Right! Professionalism applies to all parties in any formal situation! Therefore, customers are expected to act in a certain manner as well. Try calling a call center and screaming at the rep. They will let you know that company guidelines allow them to hang up on you. I used to worked in a call center in undergrad.

The problem the tenants had is when they gave a nasty attitude, they expected her to not give one back. You get what you give. You want respect and professionalism, you give it first. The second the tenant decided to give attitude is when she decided she didn’t want professionalism. She wanted to fight.
