- In the new Netflix movie “Don’t Look Up,” an offbeat comedy about a comet hurtling toward Earth, Meryl Streep portrays the president of the United States and Jonah Hill plays her son and chief of staff. As they join TODAY in person, Streep reveals that Hill has been calling her a GOAT without her knowing that it stands for “greatest of all time.” “She’s the best,” Hill says.

The interviewer’s questions and attitude and her persona as a whole are spot on what the movie is satirizing.
Ikr
Ikr 😅
shes alright, plenty of worse offenders.
Not worth it , don’t waste your time
because shes part of the problem
This interview is exactly what is in the movie.
i know right lol
Especially the fart machine
Seeing This interview after the movie definitely is spot on in terms of the media watering down and downplaying import topics and I’m sure the actors wanted to show the contrast to real life wow what a brilliant thing they did, you can definitely see the shallow interviews now. A movie about the blatant disregard for urgency and even still real life interviews don’t try to change smh a missed opportunity to direct the conversation to something important and all she can talk about is the same shallow things the movie talks about. What a great allegorical masterpiece this just shows they’re deliberately disregarding important conversations and topics in real life. This was brilliant I hope this encourages positive change
Did you laugh a lot during the movie?
Exactly
Not the actors but the actual director and writers
I wish I could say it was as brilliant as the movie. Did the interviewer even get the movie’s critique of the interviewers in the movie? Soooo disappointing. And frankly, given the urgency of the matter as the movie underscores, just pathetic.
The movie makes fun of these trash talk shows 😂 i find it funny how realistic the movie is in that regard
It also makes fun of many other things, celebrity culture, social media and the fact people don't want to hear the truth, just want good news and how selfish people truly are.
"Goat.. goat.. goat..."
No discussion of our climate crises.
Well done, Don't Look Up. You nailed it.
AmenAmenAmenAmenAmenAmenAmenAmenAmenAmenAmenAmen!! If they would have allowed me to click 150 likes, you'd have gotten them all.
Jonah literally spelled out, for you, how you can help.
@@markmyers8491
Indeed: "call your local congress person and talk about H.R.794, the national climate change emergency act"
climate crisis is a lie!!!!
@@rata4428 Thank you dog profile, that's a relief!
You can tell Jonah is such a sensitive soul and a sweetheart
yeah. one of the few celebrities I really believed when he apologized for his behavior.
@@heatherbukowski2102 why do they have to apologize for anything??
7:06 Meryl doing the GOAT sound... completes this interview. HAHAHA
Ohh that was her unbelievable meryl
Ikr lmao
She's funny u gotta love her
Crazy how the movie spoofs GMA and this interview proves the movies point
I just love how humble Meryl Streep is. She’s a lion in her movies, but a warm cat in real life.
Interesting analogy 🤔😂
and Jonah always gets slammed about a couple things lmfao.... all in all, a fun interview :P
a warm cat?
@@distantraveller9876 go pet one, then.
She’s a liberal 🍕💩
HUGE respect to Jonah for bringing up hr794, using this platform to bring attention to what really matters right now. I imagine this show really forced them not to talk about climate change too much to avoid bringing down the mood, just like the morning show in the movie. Mad respect for anyone that uses their platform to take action on climate change. Just like the movie portrayed, it’s what everyone SHOULD be doing. We can’t afford to lose everything to apathy.
The fact that Meryl attended this interview even though she's only a support role in the movie speaks of her humility. What a legend
She's actually in the movie a ton - id go as far to say a third lead!
bcz meryl, like any other movie stars, is being paid to do press tour 😅
Support character ?? Yeah but after the two leads her and Jonah are the center of the film
Mckay is always nominated, that’s why she’s there
What? she's an actress, that's her job to act and promote the film.
You can see, when Jonah said "No I didn't enjoy insulting Jen" , he really meant it👌
Yes. He was rightfully taken aback by the rude insinuation that he could not be differentiated from his character. I found the host quite vapid.
Meryl is so good at Impressions, that she even did a Goat sound at the end 😂 👏🏻
That obliterated me
These interview shows are so transparent and choreographed.
As someone born in the eighties, having been force-fed this crap throughout my childhood and early adulthood, it is so painful, yet satisfying to watch these dinosaurs, in 2021, still scrambling to maintain their legitimacy in an era where podcasts and other forms of independent media dominate, with a lack of corporate/network control and their ability to have sincere and unedited discussions about whatever the subject may be.
amen
I want to agree, but a period here and there would get your point across a lot better
@@SwervinSpliffs27 Fair enough. It does read a bit like a sentence out of a David Foster Wallace novel.
@@ragtag8226 😂 but I was being facetious. You are absolutely correct. Mainstream media is dying at a rapid pace! Everything I watch on JRE seems much truer to life and authentic (I also watch startalk and tim dillon show for laughs) in comparison to television "news" which is really just opinion with no differentials, no broader picture and no room to criticize. Unfortunately, I bet MSM will try to adapt and make their own podcasts to regain viewership, if anyone even cared to watch. At the end of the day, the people want independent information without the interest of big gov't, tech and corp.
@@SwervinSpliffs27 HAHAHAHA!!
Jesus Christ, this is why the movie hits home. This interview is exactly what happens in the movie and in our world. Could we get serious about saving ourselves and this planet?????
So .. on a film about an ongoing worldwide existential crisis, which humanity is actually currently facing at this moment, host is going to lead with .. nicknames.
"Don't Look Up" is so much more devastatingly accurate than most will ever want to acknowledge.
As Lily Tomlin used to say, No matter how cynical you get- it's never enough."
And Jonah mentions climate change with a smile on his face, a story about a fart machine, and an anecdote to a single phone call to congress, and ironically adds, “after the fart machine and that, my job here is done” 😂
Did you think the movie was funny?
@@RoyArrowood As a pretty accurate satire, I thought a lot of the very dark humor worked well, and some less successfully so.
Given the subject matter, I thought everyone did a very good job.
I found myself laughing a lot during this movie, but on the other hand I also found it very serious and 100% accurate. It really does send a strong message if your willing to see it. This is a 100% accurate representation of how we would act in this exact situation, and it’s truly is scary to think about.
@@sharksbitestuff4240 Yep. Sad, but true.
In addition to HR794, HR2307 is another good one to call your member of Congress (MOC) about. The whole point of the movie was that we need to hold governments accountable. Individuals can’t stop a comet, and on our own we aren’t sufficient to stop climate change either. Jonah, you are the man for giving such sage advice during this interview!
Thanks for that info!
Such respect for both ! You can tell they’re very good actor , they played those two punks so well and they’re so nice and sweet in real life
Jonah's looking extra cool these days.
He’s prepping for the role of Jerry Garcia
Protect Meryl at all costs. Legend.
GOAT
Have to admit it’s weird to them on the same type of Media the film satirizes… I sometimes wonder if these actors are just empty headed drones regurgitating lines
Long life to Meryl!!!
Grow up.
@Frank Lopez uhm have you seen the devil wears prada?? Go home dude

I just finished watching this movie. It was a great satirical film. And the acting and performance of Meryl and Jonah Hill were both great. Especially Jonah Hill was the MVP of this movie lol
"She'll come back"
I timed that baby perfect.
Woooaaah....
Watching it rn
Their energy is lovely 😊💛✌
you know what, would love to see another movie with these two together as mother and son 😂
Don't look up is a pure masterpiece... It's really a steal if it does not win a couple of Emmies or Oscars... it's truly made me laugh and cry...
Amazing movie, great message to all of us.
I'm so happy this movie is a huge success and the fact that's making people talking about at least ONE of the topics we ALL should be talking about since decades.
The movie is brilliant but it could be about anything so, it really didn't make people talk about climate change. If the actors hadn't come out to mention it I'd still think the movie was about Covid and how governments handled it. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people out there thought the movie was about an asteroid hitting earth.
It's like I'm watching "Don't Look Up" interview scenes all over again.
Jonah is an AMAZING actor, I been waiting for ppl to stop hatin on em and show him the respect he deserves cuz he can hang with all these actors he's no rookie
He’s a riot on SNL
Their characters were almost too triggering and enraging to find humorous in this scene. They are both great actors.
Yeah I hated them, they did a great job!
That's how I felt about the whole movie: it's brilliant, but everyone's actions (and how unfortunately realistic they were) had me frustrated and angry and depressed the entire time, and for the rest of the day after.
Jonah is a smart kid, he knew Meryl wouldn't know GOAT, so he respects her, but he also used her to get a laugh.
How remarkable of Jonah to always so subtly slip in the climate change legislation. Thank you Jonah. Humanity is indebted to you for your contribution. its time for US to activate.
Lol the world is ending in what year now???
@@traindr12 Don't be so obtuse. There are ppl around the world already being affected by climate change and it will only get worse.
@@traindr12 many thousand people died this year alone, and more to follow, world will live, we are dying, and soon most places will be unlivable with no place to go
I love the fact that they are on a light, daytime news type show, promoting a film that savages light, daytime news shows
I feel like if I’m watching the movie with this interview !!! This is hilarious 😂🤣
Funny how the movie was mocking this kind of interview. Instead of talking about the serious issues the movie tries to draw our attention to, the interviewer asks Jonah Hill if he brought a fart machine on set. These people have zero self awareness.
Thank you for posting this bonus scene!
This is an iconic duo. ♥️♥️♥️
I'm only watching this movie for Jonah Hill. He seems naturally funny and down to earth. Most people in Hollywood seem like they try too hard to be a certain way in interviews to try to get the public to like them. He is someone you would actually want to hang out with.
Meryl, the one next to him, fits that too..
Meryl played a supporting role in this interview. Interesting that she was asked only one question and it was about J.Hill
Great actors
best improvisational actor of our time
I ADORE MRS MERYL STREEP... SHE and Blancett are phenomenal!
Great movie. Watched it last night. But the irony and topic of the news media is totally lost on all of these tv programs. It’s like they don’t know, that we know, they are so wrong and deliberately leave out the important stories.
Meryl looks better and better each time I see her…wtf?
Period
Babies
It's botox sis
She’s smoothed and tightened the canvas. Just a tad.
@@panikoittouki620 nope, skincare, genetics, and general well-being
This movie really helped me to watch on Christmas day. And, this is a great interview!!
Don't Look Up is a perfect metaphor for Climate Change. Well done guys.
And republicans n trump
@@shayminmilo6937 actually the the president in the movie was a hybrid between Hillary and Trump. Both of them take boat loads of donations from big Oil. This isn't just republicans
More like a Metaphor for COVID and global disasters in general. Played down until big companies find a way to profit, only for things to get worse, and they decide to double down. We have double the amount of covid cases since last year, but it seems the rest of corporate America couldn't care less
@@cybervoid8442 having her son on staff and Jonah quote “if she wasn’t my mother…” was pretty direct, I gotta say
It's really the best metaphor. Climate change is killing a lot of people right now. Heart attacks, myocarditis, and blood clots are WAY more common now. People need to start taking it seriously.
This movie is really great and spot on!
The movie is amazing! My spouse, and i loved it. Superb cast🙆♂️👏😁
Meryll would be a good president though in real life 😅
Meryl Streep, Jonah Hill along with Mark Rylance really sold me on how much they got me to hate these characters. I've never wanted to punch my screen so badly. A testament to there acting prowess in this film imo.
yasss especially that Mark Rylance ugh he made me say a lot of bad words watching him... lol
MS looks 20 yrs younger than her age. She looks early 50's.
"I thought 'goat' was because I was chewing the scenery." lol
Looks like a great movie! Can't wait to watch

Meryl is so gorgeous till this day
I agree.
I love this new look from Jonah Hill
She look so great!
Great Movie 🎬 🎞 🎥
Thanks 🫂🌈🫂❤🫂
Love Jonah Hill and Leo DiCaprio in movies together😍
Meryl is so lovely
I love this dude. I think he would make a great director.
That goat noise at the end did me in 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Iconic actress !
No matter how much I like Jonah, man....
Let the GOAT speak....
Smh
Say that to Savanah. She focused more on telling Jonah how he felt rather than asking him. Then continued to focus on him with her questions. I think she is a decent person but she sucks as an interviewer and always talks over people never letting them get a full answer out.
Meryl's Goat noise 🤣 at the end!
Nice plug!
Oh MG! This movie is so good! Recommend 100%
This movie portrayed exactly what is happening with the current society we are living in. Despite multiple warnings from scientists across the globe about global warming and how we are entering an irreversible path to earth destruction, we kept downplaying it and leaders only put focus on the stock market and fame and power and how to have a higher YOY GDP, it’s so sad
Meryl with the goat sound at the end killed me lmao
The goat noise at the end…legend
This is actually a pretty sweet movie
Meryl. ❤️
He was really funny in the movie
Love Meryl Streep!
Third interview I've seen, third GOAT story..😂
This movie is great. Watch it. It’s worth your time.
A mere mortal among a legend
What a tag team!
You know you are doing a crappy interview when you asked your subjects to repeat the stories that they've already told on other talk shows. That was horrible.
It's one of those movies you'll keep coming back to
I love Meryl. Shes a real goat.
Such a great movie!
the interview shows us that we are not focusing on the right things..again.
Great tandem, Meryl Streep and Zack Galfanakis.
Jonah sure frontloaded that interview. Let Meryl speak!
that's the interviewer's fault, she asked him 2 personal questions that he had to answer, and before that just 1 general question about the movie which meryl answered.
I know what a flake
Maybe she wanted him to do all the heavy lifting to sell the movie. Just showing up is a lot for someone as famous as Meryl Streep.
Great job talking about the movie and not the cheesy jokes that were played out on the set
The camera work and stage direction of this interview are absolutely comical.
I loved that movie
The movie was outstanding.
She looks amazing and seems understanding of the younger generations humour. Water of a ducks back type of attitude.
I would not trust a person that didn't love Meryl Streep. She is just one of the most sweet, beautiful and genuine people out there...
FANTASTIC MOVIE °
amazing movie!
Great movie. I loved the ending!
Thanks for all your love and support, where are you watching from?
Love both
Really loved Jonah in the movie.
Oh my god the goat noise Meryl made at the end
Everytime I watch their interviews, it looks like in the movie.
i love theeeeeemmmm.
