In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion. - Komedie
“Sophie took 10 minutes… to spot Patatas” is just as funny as “It took 19 minutes… for David to spot the grape” from NZ Taskmaster
*David
@@MyNameIsNeutron it took 19 minutes for Paul to spot David Grape
David Correos might be my all time favorite TM contestant 😂
Or Matt Watson to open an unlocked briefcase
@@MyNameIsNeutron I literally just watched this season I’m in shambles I got the name wrong
I think think the best thing to hold upside down is James Acaster
That’s the first thing I thought of and was praying for someone to bring him.
could you tell me why? 🙃
@@tikofelis8313 Because Greg once held him upside down on stage by the feet for a prize task. "Best thing from the 90's ? The fact that my childhood ended. I hated being held upside down." And the rest is history.
James Acaster weirdly enjoyed it though
@@cyran1886How could I forget! 😂 thanks 👍
The first thing that came to my mind is a bottle of Wine. I might have a problem...
Steve softly muttering "Pancakes...." and a hungry wormhole appearing out of nowhere is just delightful.

@@nunyanunya4147 oh damn you’ve got a point!
How does this keep happening to me? Three times now while watching Taskmaster I just happen to start scrolling through the comments and as I read a comment quoting something from the episode, that exact phrase is said in the show.
As though my internal monologue reading your comment was playing on my speakers. Three times this has happened to me in three different episodes! Spooky.
@@SquareNoggin what were the first two?
@@nunyanunya4147 makes sense, wormhole sucks up light - it is truly invisible. But now I wonder if I've seen his reflection on the dome... Thanks. 😅
I love how you can hear Alex laughing in the background more often than usual. I'm unsually invested in that little guy's happiness.
@@GarrettPDGAGo on then! 😊
@@GarrettPDGA What a weird comment.
It's often pointed out, but Alex is actually a somewhat tall man. Above 6ft anyways. It's funny that he's thought of as little.
@@SquareNoggin That's the joke.
@@somewherenowhere676 I thought it was about little horn, the beast! Perhaps it just is about his size compared to greg's...
My hypothesis is that Steve is going to win the series, because although Joanne and John are also in the running, they can't win because they are teamed with Sophie 😂.
John is going to be crushed when he loses to the old guy who's just having a laugh
goodness gracious Sophie. I love her! So silly!
It does seem so. However Dara O Briain was paired with John Kearns and Fern Brady.
Unless it's a manual labour / structural integrity based team task! 😂
I agree! Steve has put actual effort into the prize tasks and he's very clever, my money is on him winning by a very large margin
We need to get a task master season with all of the International assistants as the contestants
Wow i love that idea!
I really hope this happens.
That is a wonderful idea
Of all ideas I've seen in TM comments, that is definitely never going to happen
not the Canadian one he's awful
I just want to point out, Elon is not a scientist.

Is there proof yet he’s an actual human being?
Or a genius

You are the 2nd person I've found in the comments saying something about "below the line" and the "Big if" remark. Could you explain?
@@TroubleToby3040 They're both jokes from Alex's youtube series "No More Jockeys", a game he played with Tim Key and Mark Watson during covid.
It's like an unintentional reflex at this point
It's very hard to mind it.
Sophie absolutely smashing the whiteboard task is my favorite part of this show. You really never know what kind of situation can draw out the most unexpected victory. I love watching how each of their minds work during a task.
??? she was not smashing it, she didnt even try to take it from the wall. she was just as boring as all of them.
She didn't smash it. She got lucky. Those pieces of velcro at the bottom were doing absolutely nothing to support the star so she obviously didn't truly understand the physics of what was happening.
Haha ya'll so spiteful. Just enjoy the show.
@@ChriPhenix nah, we are just analyzing things honestly. i have high expectations! :)

"I think my intelligence may lie in manual labour" 😂
"the enthusiasm of a turn of the century mill worker" This is why the UK TM is unbeatable, no matter how well-designed the tasks are in other franchises. The magic is in the studio banter, stirred by Greg & Alex's chemistry and Greg's amazing way with words.
2:07 Alex is getting bolder, Greg few years ago would not let him get away with this. 😂
I know LAH has a mouth this season lol. They’re acting more like a married couple
2:14 would've had him backtrack for sure, but here he doubled down. Confrontational like a frustrated married couple indeed! 🤣
I think it's sweet, it speaks to the genuine friendship those two now have. Obviously Alex knows how far he can go to tease him, and he's taking advantage. It makes for a more fun dynamic too
What are you talking about, poppet.
19:15 too- good shout, Greg-apotamus 😂
Greg saying “Is it?!” to the team of three’s performance is the most genuine delivery I’ve ever heard
“You ought to have seen the state of us on the day…it was carnage!”
as Aisling Bea would say: "Dignity intact".
She does not have dignity.
@eddiek8179 clearly not familiar with the reference... where Aisling sang that over and over.. dancing.. in her underwear
@@notforyou7834 Don't assume. She was on a boat in her briefs. I saw it. She lies a lot and is a bit of an idiot thus no dignity remark despite what she thinks.
“Oh, Bloody Nora! I’m flyin’!”
“Beige blobs soil his shoes” is the best line since “he shat himself inside out.”
Steve brings in one of the best prize task prizes of all time… and finds the punchline in two other prize presentations as well.
Steve did not come to fuck around it seems
I knew of nobody on this cast before this show and wondered if I'd warm up to them, and in true Taskmaster fashion, it took exactly 1.25 episodes for me to fall utterly in love with every member of this new cast.
Hey everyone. Found the only person on Earth who didn’t watch “Ted Lasso” during lockdown.

For the strongest adhesion of Velcro, always place the strips vertically. Overtime, horizontal strips will fail.
Even when all you have is the hooks side and no loops side? 😂

The thought of Greg having all those teddy bears takes on a different air if you've heard the legend of Blue Ted.
Production team, I love you guys. So much great work staging, filming, and editing. The best in the business, clearly doing a job they love.
They truly make me respect just how much the people who do the filming/editing shape the entire show.
Kudos to the editors who truly brought the greenscreen task to life!
Taskmaster is on a another level indeed.
Back in the day, (ostensibly) unscripted reality TV was largely uninspired trash. But with Taskmaster, they've not only elevated the genre immensely but have been making easily some of the most creative and engaging light entertainment out there.
We've come a long way from Big Brother and Survivor and the like.
It makes me proud of the motherland, a little bit. Never been to GB but as a Canadian I think this show has helped me cultivate a little bit more of a kinship with em.
James Acaster is the best thing turned upsided when Greg lifts him
Brilliant conclusion by Sophie there -- a thing which is already hanging on the wall should be easy to affix to the wall.
Right. Just like a car will roll easily if you take the wheels off.
So disappointed that no one brought James Acaster for the prize task
I love Nick's commitment to the vampire character during the tasks.
I love how he even wore a cape for his costume.
And here we are two episodes in, and *no one* has mentioned it yet on the show! :-)

just finished rewatching season one, and gosh it's incredible to see what this show has become
Rewatched it recently too, and while the differences are apparent, I was pleasantly surprised by how well the entertainment holds up. The studio banter is top tier!
@@swordsman1062It's definitely lost a bit of that raw, renegade "I can't believe we're doing this wacky s***!" magic, but the production value is on a whole other level now.
It is fantastic, but on the other hand, we don't get things like Josh tattooing his foot for a prize task or Romesh detonating a watermelon on the floor anymore.
Gotta say, I love John's jacket.
According to John it is a handmade bespoke copy of Freddy Mercury's 'Webley '86 magic tour jacket.
@@ilonad4907 that's awesome. I love it even more now! Thank you!
He told Ed Gamble he had to have two made, just in case.
@petebarger2149 they always have two (or more) of the same outfits for production reasons. If one of their outfits gets dirty, they put on the other outfit while the other is cleaned. It can sometimes be seen, like when Sarah Millican put Alex in her second outfit for the rubber chutes task.
The Patatas task is my new favorite version of the "Reserving one of the contestants to show last" gag.
Sophie is going to be the most “shown last” contestant since Paul Chowdhry and Ivo Graham.
40:22 John proves in this moment that every dude is always thinking about the 1995 cinematic masterpiece Heat
I see we're back to Series 1:
"When in doubt, tell Alex to do the Task for you"
I'm proposing the team name for Steve and Nick: The Mild Boys. They're just such a comfy vibe
What about Stevie Nicks?
23:46 - 25:44 OH MY I haven't laughed that hard in a long time 🤣love Sophie and I love the moment when she jumps and we see John and Joanne lmao
John’s pained/surprised grunt floored me. :-)
“Ah’m flyin’! Bloody Norah!” Is a phrase that I have been savoring for days now.
Steve is an absolute monster so far
Based on the timing of cutting away from her + the way she seemed to be leaning in I was *sure* they were going to reveal that Joanne's head went in the dome at 11:29!
Closing this video and having it start again at 3:16 was quite the experience

I'm surprised Greg didn't comment, " I used to be a school teacher why are you explaining the calculator?"

One of the things I love about British comedy is that sometimes all it takes is a facial expression.
To be fair he was a drama teacher lol
24:14 has to be the funniest thing I’ve seen in a while. Sophie is a wonderful kind of crazy!

A Tudor queen back in Oldy Worldy Times… sounds familiar 😂😂
Bosh!
Patatas is back!❤❤
He’s a bit of a Punt tbh…
Good thing they were able to rescue him after Richard Osman left him in the tree.
I had the same reaction, but said it in Catherine's voice 😂
What have we learned today?
We've learned that if you're lonely enough, a calculator can have a surprising vocabulary. We've learned that the Tudors had a lot to say about toxic msculinity. And we've learned that if you want pancakes, all you need to do is think hard enough to call on a servant who's been trapped by a wormhole into a game of Jumungo.
We've also learned that the fantasric winner of Episode 2, is STEEEEEEEVE PEMBERTOOOOOOON!
Excellent! I was going to write a comment whining about no words of wisdom from Greg. Thanks!

The team of three had a huge advantage for the live task, with twice as many guessers, but that was a really fun task!
I cannot overemphasize how much I love UK Taskmaster. Greg and Alex are absolutely amazing, and the contestants are consistently great sports.

Team of 3 had an unfair advantage in the final task, with two people guessing…
Yes. They should have taken turns for it to be fair. but in some tasks the 3 have an advantage in some a disadvantage and it’s nit a serious gameshow anyway.

I've never heard of Steve before but he's great! Loving this whole group!
He’s a brilliant actor and writer. They do amazing things with his best friend Reece Shearsmith. You should check out his dark anthology series called Inside No.9 or the iconic dark comedy The League of Gentleman
@@user-qy3qy9kd3w I looked him up and... umm... dark does not sound like anything I want to check out anytime soon.
This is no personal criticism of you, more of a consideration for myself really. But it occurs to me that recommendations should be given without "you should watch". They should be given with "if that's your cup of tea, this person has done this and it's brilliant".
There are exactly two shows that i will always watch the full opening theme of. One is Game of Thrones and the other is Taskmaster.
I have enjoyed every. Single. Season. This show is just brilliant.
This cast might not be as weird as the last one, but they are remarkably clever.
And really, who could be as weird as the Series 16 cast? That was a league of its own.
Right?! I adore Series 16

With the task taping the heaviest thing to the whiteboard, I would've just taped Alex' hand to the board. Nothing said it had to be hanging off the ground, it just couldn't get loose before the time ended 😅
I would have taped my own hand in case Alex didn’t comply.
@@giabarrone7422Haha, I had the same thought. "I don't trust Alex."
"heaviest thing that sticks to the board for 1 minute wins" Doesn't say anything about hanging, doesn't say anything about the board being on the wall. You just have to make gravity not be a factor: heavy thing resting on the floor or board resting on the floor.
I would've took the board off the wall and taped it to the floor, nothing on Earth heaver then the Earth
As I said in a post to Episode 1 - during Steve Pemberton's "egg" movie...you could briefly see the missing cat poster next to the door of the caravan. I wonder if the task was going to take place inside the caravan originally...
Oh wow! Or maybe they put little easter eggs for the contestants as hints to later tasks?
I heard they post QR codes in the other-location tasks where passersby can scan and watch video clips of the tasks filmed there, so I certainly can see them doing that.
@@BeccaB529 That's a lovely little tidbit. Strangely, the moment that comes to mind is Doc hucking stuff across the creek toward the shopping trolley because he can't see bridges. I doubt he'd like it commemorated.
@@irisblue2332 Lol. Poor Doc. He seems like the only contestant to genuinely have disliked the show.
@@BeccaB529 he didn’t do all that poorly, either. I wonder if both he and Jon would have fared better if they had been in a later season when it was fully established that no one who participates escapes looking ridiculous.
Near the end of rescuing Patatas I realized 'patatas' is Spanish for 'potato'.
Back in hippy-trippy 1971, I had a cat that had a litter of ten kittens and we named them after anything resting near them. It included one named Soap and another named Bowl, but there was also one named Potato. A girl, I think.
Back when the seasons had a central item (egg, frozen peas, et cetera), Patatas showed up in the potato season. :-)
Also, how cute for the cats! :-) Pet names can be so fun.
Patatas is also Italian slang for lady parts 😉
I know they’re likely gone now but I’d sail across the ocean if potato or bowl or soap needed me to
Now that TM AUS is done, I'm so happy OG TM is there to fill the hole
I want John and Little Alex Horne to play the golf course next door.
"Ours was just more... better" Damn, I don't think there's a better way to discribe the difference between two videos)
Have y'all noticed that Alex is explaining the rules more and giving more hints this season. I don't remember the last time he said "all the information is on the task"
I love that Alex can't help himself anymore and has to respond to any "if" statement with "Big If".
