I am in the "excessive" category. You'd faint. I can't do 52 polishes. I love too many finishes and nail art, stamping, etc. However, I do like your logic and system.
FYI, I love Essie too! Off Tropic is one of my FAVORITE greens that I own! Swoon in the Lagoon is hard to find and the collections' name sake. I suggest you keep it...if you really don't want it get paid in a destash.
I love a range from dark to super light. I can wear any shade and a lot of flakie bombs and unique shades, pruglies. Etc... Enjoy!

Nail polish thinner. Changed my life. Sally beauty, or online Amazon, etc. I just watched you go through your collection. 😀you saying having more than 52 made me clutch my pearls. Ha ha. However, to each their own. You opened me up to mall brands like Urb. Out. I will try them. That lighting blue was gorgeous. I said, "Keep it." You said maybe. I replied, "NO!" Like you revealed to me, you're my long-lost father, then cut off my hand. It was way too deep. Anyway, you took me on a roller-coaster. 👍🏼 can you tell I have too much free time.

When I i discovered the world of indie polish, my collection exploded. I've been collecting and accumulating polish for about 3 1/2 years now. I have no idea how many I have at this point. I stopped counting somewhere between 3-4 hundred. I've gotta have well over a thousand by now. I'm not trying to brag about it or anything. The reason I wanted to write this is because your collection is just so small from my perspective, and I thought it was funny that you thought a hundred was absurd. My collection is actually pretty small compared to many people I've talked to in the indie polish community. I've talked with some people who have upwards of 6-7 thousand. Soooo, just saying, there's absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to keep 100 polishes. That's just not what you're personally comfortable with. Another note; my polish friends and I would never discard a polish just because "it's old". There are ways to revive polish if it starts to get a bit dried out, mainly by adding a bit of a good polish thinner to the bottle and giving it a good shake. I've saved many bottles by doing this.
If you are interested in the indie world of polish, I'd recommend starting where I started; with ppu, aka polish pickup. The site only goes live once a month. They sell polish and other items during the first full weekend of each month (Friday to Monday), and it opens for wishlisting the Sunday beforehand. It's a great place to get a sense of what's out there. There are probably about a hundred different brands who participate. Each month we vote (in Facebook) on a new theme and each maker creates a little work of art based on some inspiration they found fitting the chosen theme. They are all limited batches, made by hand in the makers' homes, not in factories, so many of them are capped at however many the maker thinks they're capable of making in time. Many of them do sell out before the weekend is over. I just love ppu because you get a chance to try many different brands and only have to place one order. The makers are very creative and they make absolutely stunning creations. Its always difficult trying to narrow down the wishlist to something feasible. The combinations they come up with using flakies, shimmers, glitters, holos, color shifting properties, magnetics, thermals, etc, are incredibly gorgeous, and once you get started, it can become addicting. I started out trying to get one from as many brands as possible, just to give them all a try, but over time I've discovered certain brands that I just absolutely love. Most of these brands also have their own sites that they sell on as well, and they create their own collections. When I really love a brand, its hard to resist the temptation to buy everything they make, but it must be done because there's just way too many amazing brands out there. If I focus on just one or two too much, then I miss out on so many others.
There are other sites that work in a very similar way to ppu, but ppu is probably the largest one. There's also hhc (hella handmade creations), pgb (polish gamers box), lboh (little box of horrors) and more.

Just did a St Patrick's Day manicure while watching this 😊 A shimmery olive green on most nails with shamrocks on a white base on my thumbs and the Irish flag on my ring fingers. I was applying my Sally Hansen Insta Dri top coat as you were talking about how good that formula is!

Not going to help on this front but Holo Taco sounds right up your alley. They have a youtube channel and so many pretty yellows and fun types of polish

I've heard of that brand! From Simply Nailogical right? The next time I buy a nail polish I'll definitely look there first :)

@@JuleInTheRough21 yep! The yellows greens and blues are always the bottom sellers and I dont get it cause they are gorgeous. Linear holo and the shifting ones are my favs.
Nail polish thinner helps when polish gets thick too btw. Was shocked how good the first time I used it
