    Great seeing Jon with you. I watched a lot of his videos (as well as yours of course) using his Flail Mower. I just bought the Frontier FL 1053. It's being installed right now. Along with my Frontier AV20F Grapple & front Hydraulics. Thanks for all the information each of you provide. Very helpful with my new toy (Jon Deere 1023E).

    Two classy fellows. One instructional moment in this video that I appreciated - Jon was talking about hammers vs. knives in the flail mower. Tim responded, "Well I don't have any experience with that." I appreciate that honesty. I'm going to be pondering that for a long time.

      Build a boat in your front yard!
      There was a guy in Oklahoma who build a 75ft steel sail boat in his front yard in 9 years …. (He just finished this year) and he had people from all over the world come out and help him…. He found hundreds is not thousands of people coming out to him and building his boat for him.

    That offset flail is awesome! At first I thought it was acting more like a tiller then realized the light made it look like it was digging in the dirt. That copper wire you tangled up with was probably discarded by the antenna contractor. Each guy cable should be grounded thru the anchor itself. Them venttracs are an amazing, all around machine that does a ton of things well. That said, as I get older the less I want to deal with mosquitoes/biting insects, the dirt and debris coving me and honestly, the heat. In south Louisiana those will make ya miserable and I mow acreage, and when I was younger a 72” deck on a Ferris ate it up quick, but I’ll tell ya, kicking that AC on int the John Deere makes it EASY. 10’ batwing, radio jamming (yeah, it’s modified. A lot) and it’s a joy to do. Yeah yeah yeah, costs 3 times what a ventrac does but did I mention it’s got AC? Lol. 95degrees here is much different than 95 in Indiana.

    GET THAT WIRE REPLACED. You don't want a lightning strike to burn through the guy wire and take down the tower while its waiting to find a path to ground.

    How come your so wide open throttle ish Tim ?
    I've been a mechanic all my life and it's never good to be screaming.
    Is 540 at that high of rpm on them JDs?
    Thanks for the good videos.
    I'm not trying to be negative. I love your channel. I just don't understand

    • @TractorTimewithTim
      @TractorTimewithTim  Před 2 lety +1

      Wide open throttle is just above 540rpm…570 or so. This is how the tractors are meant to be operated. ….such that a small load, pulling the rpm’s down just a bit still maintains the 540 rpm.
      Spent all my life on tractors. They are meant to be ran wide open throttle.
      This has been changing recently in the big ag side with the computerized transmissions which work together with engine load to maintain desired speed…but for basic tractors, wide open throttle while running PTO implements is the mfr intended operating approach.

      Different mechanic here. Kubota and CaseIH have preached high RPM operations because the emissions equipment need the exhaust heat to operate properly.

    i think our friend Gizmo2 has snuck into ur shop and painted the Ventrac's rims with his famous black paint. i would have to paint them rims ay color other than black to suit me. ha! i guess since it seems everyone now days wants black rims is why they painted them things black, i know u have no control over the color, but pass it along to them, that one of ur viewers don't care for that color.lol
