- The angel Gabriel came to Mary and told her all about how she'd conceive and bear God's son Jesus, and even when she asked how this could be, he elaborated. Wouldn't that be nice? Wouldn't it be nice to have an angel show up and tell us what God's plan for our life is?
But... that's not how it went. The angel actually told her very little. And after Mary's "fiat" ("Let it be done unto me according to thy word"), what happens? "The angel departed." That's it.
See, God probably won't tell you what his plan is for your life. Not all at once. And Fr. Mike is here today to tell you why it's actually better that way, and how we can follow Mary's example of trust.

A few months ago I was diagnosed with stage 4 Ovarian cancer. The cancer is in my liver, lungs and all through my body. God has blessed me with the best doctor. I know He is watching me as my husband and I pray to Him. This suffering I offer up to the souls in purgatory.
I still have joy in my life thanks be to God!
How old are you? Have you tried herbal remedies and boosting your immunity?

Dear Heavenly Father, I come to you today asking for your blessings as a single mom. I’m raising my children with strength and courage, despite the challenges I face with my sons being autistic. Lord as I struggle to pay my rent every month and as I struggle to buy groceries for my children. I ask that you bless me with your wisdom and guidance, as I navigate parenthood on my own heal my lupus and heart disease and continue to give me strength to keep going so I may watch my sons grow into men. ❤

For someone who's cross includes being prone to anxiety... Thank you For this "Ah ha!" moment... I often feel like I am failing because I don't know what God wants me to do.. I most often have no idea what I am doing, except not giving up.
I was putting so much pressure on "I don't know God's plan." But you are right, its not in God's plan I trust... It's in God... Thank you... Indeed I will put this into practice....
God help me be patient and go by the pace of The Holy Spirit. One right task at a time... Amen!
Consider another way to consider the matter is that one need merely be present in the current moment. Be aware of yourself, your feelings, intentions, etc. Being so focused, you neither dwell upon what might have happened in the past, nor have anxiety about future possibilities. Instead, act upon what you know, and how you might be guided by the Holy Spirit to prepare.

I am the same! Constantly worrying about the future and past decisions. I've felt for a while now that I do not put enough trust in God. Being at University, I've prayed more than ever, received the sacraments and listened to Fr Mike Schmitz which has helped me tremendously in going the right direction. Despite anxiety still affecting me, it's gotten better these last few months. I've realised that my struggles have brought me closer to the lord in ways I never imagined before. Thank you God almighty! I will pray for you and others with the same cross we carry. God can do great things🙏❤
Yes! Me too... I am not the person I used to be years ago, and I know its all because of God. I too finally turned back to prayer and going to Mass every week (or more if I can). I also listen to the Bible in a Year! And listen to Father Mike and a few other amazingly on fire Priests and Nuns. It's helped me so much to maintain.
I know God is behind it all. I cannot even tell you how I changed on my own.. because I didn't.... He did!
My issues are still here, but with Him they are manageable. I do not disrepair even on down days because I know it will pass. AND I have prayers to get me through... Plus I have powerful friends/family behind me (Our Heavenly one)... That also helps me with the false lonely feeling that creeps in now and then... God truly is Wonderful!

I ask this question alot these days.
We are called to trust in God. That is the hardest thing. We want to know, we just don't like the unknown. That is my biggest obstacle, to believe and trust God wants what is best for my soul, and not to worry. Thank you, Fr Mike, God Bless.

Well said, Fr. Mike. Giving up our will and our control over our lives is humility. Extremely hard, yes. It's true love. It's dying to one's self. You can only do it out of divine love. You do it only when you're madly in love with God.
This video just came up when I’ve literally been crying all day because I’m in a place I have no idea why I’m here and what it is I’m suppose to be doing here. I’m so confused and uncertain. I have been praying to for patience waiting in his timing.

I definitely needed this. It says if God truly knew that I needed to hear this. I'm 29 years old Going on 30 and I'm in nursing school. I just failed my second semester in a row and it left me frustrated seeing my friends go even further and me being left behind. I was praying for God to show me his will this entire week whether to stay in the program or to keep moving forward. I've recently made the decision to keep going on with the program until I get that degree or I fail out. It was with great hesitation but I did it because I don't have a plan B at the moment. I am a RN and got my PN first. There were a number of times I almost failed. Nursing school was the hardest thing I've ever done. It wasn't my original plan, either. Long story 😊. God is with you. Ask for His courage and trust in Him. I know it's so hard. Hang in there and prayers for success and His will to be done. When I was in school at times I looked like the last person to be a nurse.
This is the reason I am becoming a stronger Christian 🙏🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽❤️❤️❤️
I'm having a very hard time with this. I must be doing something wrong, because I just can't seem to let go and let God right now. The holidays have been difficult. I am grieving a staggering loss which has unearthed tons of past pain. I can't even figure out what to do in the next hour.
My heart breaks for you!! Sometimes it's hard to just breathe in and out. Mary knows where you are. Trust and ask Mary to keep her arms around you. I will say a rosary for you today.
I'm sorry for your loss! I'll pray for you, sometimes we need only to know what to do next. You're so precious, be kind to yourself, your feelings and the time you will need to recover and figure everything out. God has so much love for you, you're never alone 🙏

I never asked God these questions. I don’t think I did, at any rate. I’m old now. I think He wants me to do, everything I do and say, and think, motivated by love of Him, and to do them WITH Him. That means doing everything I do with LOVE for others and Him. That means I have to be awake!

Father I’ve asked this question in prayer countless times. And I think God answered it in a way, well kind of. You see, one night during adoration at my parish, I was sitting there, staring at the Eucharist. VariousThoughts flooding through my head, but there was one that stayed present: “what is my mission.” I was at a low point in my life, I had done a few things I wasn’t proud of and I had just gotten out of a relationship, I was just not in the best of shape mentally, emotionally and spiritually. So that thought of my “mission” kept poking me over and over, and I stared directly into the Eucharist.
Then I heard it, a voice as commanding as thunder, yet as calm as the sea. It said to me “You are loved, Go and serve me”
I was completely engulfed in tears and emotions, I didn’t know how to wrap my head around it at all. In fact I thought I was called to the priesthood!! But all I knew for certain was that I never had to ever again doubt if anyone loved me, because I know that the Almighty Father does.
I did go to a vocation retreat this summer, very beautiful I met many Salesian brothers and Preists who live up in orange, New Jersey, but I felt as thought it wasn’t for me. I know God wants me to serve him but I’m still figuring out how, exactly.
So true. The true joy is giving your whole trust in God and do what gives you joy and peace in His name.
I surrender myself to God everyday and knowing that He is in full control. And acknowledging this gives me a great sense of comfort, happiness, and joy. I AM A CHILD OF GOD AND ALL IS GOOD. AMEN.☺️❤️🙏✝️

Saying yes to God is a recipe for Joy, not for pleasure nor for avoiding pain and suffering. In fact saying yes to God may increase our sufferings, that we may grow-as in growing pains.
Wow it’s straight to the point as every other Ft. Mike’s video. That’s so true! I was so annoying Jesus, asking Him that same question over and over again. And then one day a few years back, in front of Him in adoration, I heard Him with such a gentle voice: “Martina, you’re asking hard questions”. It instantly made me laugh and then He said: “Be here where you are.” Meaning, stay here on this path, follow me, and you will know in time and place what’s next to do. I loved this explanation Father Mike! Thanks for sharing!

My prayers to God are usually for the immediate future. I'm good with knowing one step at a time. Sometimes I may ask him, if I've messed something up or gone down the wrong path, to help me fix it. If God told me what my life purpose is, I'd be overwhelmed.

Thank you for this message! As a battle cancer treatment, it’s been a rollercoaster of emotions, but I tell myself I trust in His plan for me! I have learned throughout all this that I have to take it one day at a time and just thank our Lord and Savior for one more day of blessings. I know He has a purpose for me, but meanwhile I will serve as testimony of His love! He was there during my surgery, there during chemo (just rang that bell this past Friday 2/09), and He will be holding me tight during radiation! I trust in you Father Almighty! I know one day I will say I am cancer free!
Thank you Father Mike. What you have just shared can be understood only by going through such situations. By knowing Jesus - by having a relationship with Him makes a world of a difference in the life of a Christian. We are so blessed to have such a wonderful & loving God. Life is worth living because of Him.
On a practical basis: if you go to mass every Sunday and daily if you can, confession frequently, pray the rosary and especially have a devotion to Mary under the title of Our Lady of Sorrows, and surround yourself with good people to mentor and guide you and be friends to support you, God will move things around in your life to give opportunities to understand His Will vocationally and in every other aspect respective to your state of life

God shows us the next step one at a time.
Heavenly father is compassionate. Numerous times, I had answers to prayers, long before I recognized the spirit was telling me that this is the path Heavenly Father wanted me to take. It was only years later, I changed course and listened to the promptings of the spirit.
I think often times God is willing to guide our path. We just have to be receptive and willing to hear him.

How true. When I was low, lying in a hospital bed in a city where I really knew no one, so sick I couldn't hold down water, the phrase "Your will be done" kept rolling through my mind. It wouldn't stop. Then it dawned on me. I had said those words thousands of times without really thinking about what they meant. I looked around and I saw where my will had led me. I got it. I'm stubborn and willful, but I got it. I said okay God, Your will be done. Right away I felt a weight lift. I wasn't practicing my faith at that time but I was smart enough to know what I was doing wasn't working, so I decided to go on a quest. After a while I figured out it's an ongoing quest, one we never really get to fully figure out until it's our time to go home. I'm a work in progress, and it beats being a piece if work all the live-long-day. I'm still so far from where I want to be that I wonder daily if I truly am worthy, but then I remember: "Only say the word and my soul shall be healed." That's enough for me. I need to keep it simple, the faith of a child.

This now helps me a lot. I have been doubting and despairing for almost 2y because I didn't know what God's plan was for me. I was dating a good woman, she was not a practicing catholic and had some conflict with some opinions of the church. I was in despair not knowing what I was called to do. My desires and what I thought was God's voice were in conflict. I wasn't sure what to do and what was going to happen to me. Ended up really depressed and anxious.
Now this is freeing. I was following my desires so much and didn't even think about what was beneath them. I didn't even consider it. If I have just stopped, calm down and went through this, I might have been able to see things more clearly. Maybe I would have been able to see what I needed to do for the relationship to thrive or to just cut it off sooner.
Now I will go through this. I'm in a state of reconnecting with the Lord, since He gives me all the peace and freedom I need to thrive, be myself and grow.
Hope I can go through all of this with confidence and that I can be free. I won't dismiss my desires and do some deep soul searching.

I am blessed to have experienced this. I was engaged, in graduate school and focused on making a career in academia. Everything was going wrong. My car was stolen, my advisor was controlling, my computer crashed (early 2000s), and my job required I work long hours. One day during my adoration hour, I knew God was telling me to stop going down my path, get married because I was going to be blessed with children, follow his path for me and he would take care of me. I left the chapel, told my fiance and we got married 6 months later. So many blessings outside of the wedding came from the ceremony and the reception. I became pregnant two months after we married. My life took a different path, but I finished my degree, have three beautiful children, don’t work as a professor but still work in academia. It’s been about 19 years, and I am so glad I trusted in God. I would not change a thing about my life. His plan has given me a sense of peace that I did not have.

God only gives us short term directions because it tests our faith in God. We have to blindly trust that the creator of everything might know what is best for us, even if we can't see into the future.

We are created in God's image , but as amazing we are because of that , we are going to be FINITE creatures forever - even in heaven. When i was about 16 yrs old I couldn't imagine a TRUE heaven unless All mysteries were understood , but later i realized it's not our 'portion' as humans . With our Blessed Mother being completely free of the effects of sin and ignorance , i believe she perceived all experiences on such a profound level of understanding , that the will of God for the moment was always clear for her. For our part , it's working to stay in the state of grace and pray to the Holy Ghost for enlightenment at each turn. I love my heavenly mother & my salvation literally depends on the multiple times she's rendered grace to me , and calm resolve to go to confession and repent.
