      Hell No the Hatbox Ghost does not ruin the Haunted Mansion...I'm glad he is there since he was there when the ride opened then returned in 2015 and I love seeing him in the current movie.

    The reason why he appears next to the endless hallway, is because that is where we first see him in the new Haunted Mansion film. Technically the Florida mansion is Crump Mansion, so he can go wherever he wants and is not controlled by Leota. They’ve done a subtle treatment of exactly what they did with Jack Sparrow in the POTC ride.

      I do think that makes sense as an explanation for why they did it, but I don’t think using movie logic is a great idea since the ride isn’t telling story of the movie. I guess we’ll see what they end up doing

      @@DisDrewShow I definitely agree with you on that point. I really wanted him to be in the attic for that reason too. The seance was the point that really scared me as a kid, specifically because of the '...and are beginning to materialise'. It really stood out in my mind that the ghosts were coming out now. Buuut, Disney. They are so desperate to get the next franchise movie set underway and are obsessed with linking their rides to movies now. I really do think that, because the WDW mansion was used as Crump Manor, that's why he's placed in the endless corridor. Disney logic. Yaaay. :D

    Actually, the hat box ghost does not own the mansion. He’s the one that came through the rift after the owner wouldn’t stop doing the séances

      Ahhh yes you’re right! I got it a bit mixed up

    I have a theory that maybe the imagineers are trying to tie something from the new movie into the ride. Who knows? Maybe they’ll make the hatbox ghost more of a looming threat in the whole ride like you said. That would make sense

      Would be fine with that I just need it to be articulated in the ride, I don’t want you to need homework (movie, guidebook, etc.) to understand why he comes before Leota!

    I see others here have noted that his placement in Disney World has something to do with the film. Since the Florida mansion was used for Crump’s residence, it makes reasonable sense. I would just be happy to see him, PERIOD. I missed the original one in Disneyland in 1969 by a matter of weeks. I relocated to Boston from the SF area in 1994 and now live in Louisville. I have not been back to Disneyland, and as Orlando is closer, I am pleased I won’t have to go as far.

      I think most casual fans are also just happy he is there! Honestly, the explanation Disney gave us at D23 is good enough for me at this point.

    I like your theory but I still don't like his placing. I don't think guests should have to know outside information for a ride to make sense. If they manage to explain it within the ride itself, I can't really complain though, I think he's a really cool ghost.

    • @DisDrewShow
      @DisDrewShow  Před rokem +2

      Definitely important that it’s explained in the ride itself. I can head canon it or learn from a book just fine, but the ride needs to stand on its own, not everyone is gonna read a comic book to understand the ride. Granted, most general guests probably don’t even realize the ghosts don’t appear before Leota, but that doesn’t mean you just throw the story out the window.

      @hey.austin Před rokem +2

      @@DisDrewShow yeah that's a good point. If someone knows that the spirits only appear after Leota, then they're more likely to know the rest of the canon.

    Technically the original intention of the Bird was to narrate, not be a silent guide. They never got really into the details on why they thought it was best it was a "Ghost Host" instead and not have the Bird narrate, but the bird actually was supposed to talk originally. I'm guessing that more than likely it's a space issue (or simply more convenient) and that's why here's at the Endless Hallway. If they wanted to put him anywhere else they'd have to remove a different AA, or a bunch of other props/set pieces for him to fit in with the ghosts portion. Before the announcement I assumed they were going to remove some items from the attic (because it's packed) and place him there, but now seeing where he's place, it seems clear to me they just want to throw him in there just to say they've done it. It's definitely one of the easiest places to put him in with minimal effort.

    In the early years of the Disneyland mansion, my dad always told me the Ghost Host was the disembodied voice of the Hatbox Ghost. Since the host ALSO appears, at least audibly, before Madame Leota summons the spirits, this supports the HBG showing up so soon.

    • @DisDrewShow
      @DisDrewShow  Před rokem +1

      That’s a fun headcanon! Although we do know who the ghost host is, but it’s all implied lore anyway

    What's the big deal? There is NOTHING outstanding about the Hatbox Ghost. It's much ado about nothing.
