Yeah garnet can produce and resist electricity currents, Rebecca Sugar stated that the reason for that is ruby charging the electrons with heat and sapphire's cold making the air a better conductor.(I might be wrong, can't remember the exact quote) So far we saw Garnet deflect lightning, charge Greg's car battery, resist/strike back peridot with electricity through amythist's whip
also she made meat beat mania play while being unplugged!

All gems in the show are named after real gemstones. That does include Alexandrite, as made up as that sounds.

ruby's hot and sapphire's cold makes garnet's electricity, kinda like how hot and cool air makes storms and the friction causes lightning
I felt so bad for Peridot, all of her shenanigans are reactive. The crystal gems were the one chasing her down when all she wanted was to leave.

technicallythe only thing perdot does herself thats "bad" is try to shoot them with the ship, but i'd till argue trying to murder people is still kind of bad even if you get why she's doing. Everything else, yeah its based on what she was taught. by earth standards she's sympathetic, but not really innocent either.
if you are looking at this from peridots point of view, the crystal gems are violent traitors and should be locked up and she's the innocent one.

I believe the reason the gems didn't just tear down the door was because I'm pretty sure the house is Steven's. As in, I'm pretty sure he legally owns the house

They built the house themselves Greg says it a lot of work building a house in the extended version of the theme song
The beach house is on "Gem land". It's a real question about who owns it...since there's a lighthouse on it, it's assumed that the Federal Government technically owns the land. In any case, Gems have shown little care in respecting property, and a wooden door and wall could be replaced by them pretty quickly.
The reason they didn't kick in the door was less about being able to do so, but what were they going to do after? Somehow torture Peridot until she told them all about the Cluster? Really, Garnet and Pearl were acting as short-sighted and immature as Amethyst, while Steven once against stepped up as the real adult in the room.

15:05 Hands*, she can do it without her gauntlets, it's shown during "Message Received" when she was powering up Greg's van.
Honestly Peridot is my favorite gem, when I found out she was actually small and she was joining the crew, I got so hyped up.

I think he noted many times in season 1 how weirdly strong Steven is
He already knows, after noting stevens strength a few times in season 1 he realized it's his gem half giving him more strength than a normal human
Garnet's power of electricity appears in the first season. When they get Lapis' message, to start the car again she uses this power.
Meat Beat Mania actually. She used her powers to reactivate the machine after Steven unplugged it.

Tbf to the crystal gems, Peridot is a Homeworld gem, aka she's the enemy they'vs been trying to avoid for centuries. She first came there, she fixed the warp pad which made everyone worried, she came down to Earth with more Homeworld gems which became a problem, she was one of the reasons why the forced fusion gem shards got out, and now she's messing with the Earth. Ik she's only doing her job, but her mindset is still that of Homeworld plus, Crystal Gems are literally protection for Earth. You think they're gonna let a Homeworld gem, excluding Lapis, stay on Earth when all they've known is that specific Homeworld gem is hurting them and the Earth? She is lucky she's showing so much emotion and knows so much info, otherwise, we wouldn't be here...just saying, I see it from both sides because Peridot wants to go home but Lapis went home as well and look what happened...(not saying it's Lapis's fault, I love her, just saying if she went back to HW and accidentally brought two HW gems, what would happen if Peridot went back?

adn also the difference between shapeshifting and reforming is that shapeshifting takes a toll on the gems state while in reforming it dont

@@Scootx well the actual crystal gems themselves are the only ones you know of right now who change their form after being poofed and then do it because they have a sense of style from being on earth so they know the purpose of changing forms. You never see homeworld gems change their style tho as u can see with peridot because well....that's not what they do they don't decide to
New outfits after poofing are a type of self-expression. You'll notice very soon that Homeworld isn't really all that cool with self-expression.
So, when Homeworld Gems poof, they reform the same as before.
Which is sort of a symbol of stagnation. On the other hand, the Crystal Gems learn & grow. Thus, when they reform after poofing, they change their look to express how they've changed as individuals.
Most Homeworld Gems just don't mature emotionally. They stay the same from the moment they emerge. Therefore, their outfits don't change after reforming as a result.
We have seen garnet use her electric powers before actually!

Garnet is, to me, the closest thing Steven has to a real mom. The way they interact seems very fraternal to me. Amethyst acts more like a sister and pearl acts more like an aunt

Now we're starting to get deep into Gem lore. We're going into the stretch for season two, and it's going to get crazy.
Remember how Pearl's defiant words to Peridot about the "Crystal Gems" were lost on her: at that time Peridot knew nothing at all about the Crystal Gem Rebellion. For that matter, the fact that Garnet had no idea what kind of Gem Peridot was is proof that Peridot was designed and created after the rebellion, when the Crystal Gems had no contact with Homeworld and vice-versa.
I can't get more into it because it would be spoilery, but when it comes to things like shapeshifting, Peridot has limitations. All Gems made after the rebellion have much less "quality" than those made before it, so powers than ancient Gems like GAP might have and be able to use can be miniscule, difficult to summon or non-existent for modern Gems like Peridot.
If Garnet used her electricity powers back in the fight with Lapis and the ocean tower, she could've defeated Lapis so easily since water is a conductor, she would be electrocuted.
Peridot said this cluster is a new geo-weapon project, so they're essentially using earth as Ground Zero
