      Tom, you’re a great teacher. You simplify and explain and it makes sense. You have helped my game tremendously. Other instructors often attempt to over address each subject in their lesson, making their style of teaching sometimes difficult to duplicate. You make it appear simple when we all know how difficult golf can be OR we individually make it. To many of us do not understand how to practice. Watch how Tom is teaching and follow his lead.

    So I stopped the vid at 3:48 got up and gave the club a swing. You see as an amateur golfer I always wondered why I took to the sport quite quickly, my hit to miss ratio was decent, as the hits would fly and carry sometimes (keyword “sometimes”). Played a decent amount of softball and hardball in my younger years. I know you just added 40-50 yds to the driver just by the practise swing in the family room. I have never generated, repeat "never", more strength, power and stability in my swing. You Sir Saguto are awesome and a genius at your craft. 🍻

    More thoughts on tilt and waggle. Tom, you don't do a waggle. The waggle, for me, gives a quick visual of the arc my club will take. As every club takes a different arc, it helps me to see the angle my shoulders will rotate on. At set up, there is a natural cupping of the left wrist. Imagining the circle the club describes as the shoulders rotate and bringing the club head around allows me to naturally flatten the wrist at the top of my back swing. The waggle, as The Hogan might say, reminds me, before I turn, to keep my arms tucked in. The big thing for me with the waggle is visualizing the circle that the club describes and knowing as I take the club around my wrist will automatically flatten.

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  Před měsícem

      I have not issue whatsoever with a properly executed waggle as it provides a mini rehearsal of the backswing path.

    Soooo True Tom !
    I think the body winds and unwinds along the same path. So if you incorrectly Horizontally ROTATE your left shoulder on the backswing, it will horizontally unwind by rotating on the downswing causing OTT ! However, if you turn left shoulder DOWN on backswing it will unwind UP hence solving the OTT problem !!!
    Need to get the left shoulder DOWN. In fact, this has really helped me, I focus on my left shoulder to start my backswing, it's the hinge of the golf swing door. The 'feeling' is LEFT SHOULDER DOWN and SWING WIDE (arms straight) feel STRETCHED.
    I would recommend YOGA Trikonasana pose to help train these key golf muscles. Just do it halfway if you cannot touch your toes.
    I also think it helps trying to keep the clubface along the Target Line as long as possible on the backswing when turning, without disconnecting arms from body.
    Really helpful tip, thanks again Tom ;)

      I sincerely appreciate your kind words, Dennis, and I'm very glad to know that my lesson content is resonating well with you and providing clarity in the muddied, overly-complicated, oft-conflicting realm of golf instruction.
      This body-friendly, powerful, consistent, low-maintenance Stack and Tilt swing system is designed to provide a lifetime of great ball striking, and since it is rooted in physics, geometry, and human physiology it does not discriminate by age or ability - from kids to seniors and everything in between, and inclusive of the best players in the world. I give all credit where it is due - including Andy Plummer and Mike Bennett for analyzing and interpreting the science, and to those who preceded them with their empirical observations of the game's best ball strikers and all their subsequent chalkboard number-crunching. I just do my best to take what they have built and convey it in my own simplified teaching style (which is fully on display in the comprehensive, structured, sequential learning platform of my online school - saguto.golf ).

    I've been using this method since stack and tilt got popular. I smiggidy smoke my irons but 3H 3W and 1D can jam you up because maintaining that tilt with the longer clubs is crucial and easy to lean (head) towards the target at top of backswing and easy to get too upright & shoulders too level at impact with longer clubs. Gotta have spine tilted away from target at impact. I have a little different thought for my 3 least lofted clubs. Pre tilting and swinging around that tilt and the feeling of tilting for my irons which really gives me that compression of the ball feeling

    This is amazing--when I video myself from face on, employing left shoulder tilt at the ball, it FEELS like a big tilt but looks about like my old conventional backswing. But then when I switch the video to a 45 degree angle or from behind, suddenly I see a tilt very similar to Tom's. And incidentally, when I tilt I hit it much crispier, which is the real test. Great video!

      Golf is indeed a very difficult sport, Douglas. But if we can simplify the swing so as not to rely on timing and/or exceptional hand-eye coordination - and we can - then we will be able to achieve consistently great results without having to continuously work so hard. So we put in the time and effort on the front end to build the swing, and then we can enjoy low maintenance, powerful, predictable, body-friendly ball striking bliss for the rest of our lives!
      By the way, if you'd really like to get on the fast track towards properly learning this swing system in a comprehensive, sequential platform, please consider my online school. I started doing the stack and tilt this past week. Mixed results, as expected, but overall, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm 60 and have been playing a ton of golf the past 3 years and have been looking for something like this that is simple, yet effective. Still feels weird, but will continue working on it. The driver is the issue right now, as I feel all over the place. The irons are okay for the most part. Thanks for your teachings and humor!

    Thank you, Mr. Saguto. Best day at the range today after watching this video. The mental picture of maintaining my tilt throughout the swing, by imagining the wings of a plane, helped to keep my body in a great position for a more effortless swing. This kept me on an inside to out path and allowed my arms/hands to release naturally and gave me the great feeling of an effortless swing with great ball flight and distance. Every shot was solid and would have been in play out on the course. Thank you for this!

    • @SagutoGolf

      That's fantastic, Chris!! I'm glad to know that this episode resonated well with you; you've obviously done an exceptional job digesting my lesson content, incorporating it into your swing, and taking ownership of it!!
      I do my best to convey different "feels" or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible because we're all unique physiologically and psychologically, and something that resonates effectively with me may not necessarily work for you. Furthermore, a feel or thought that performs well for you this week may run its course or get overdone and not play out so nicely next week, so it's good to have alternates to call upon if needed. The key takeaway here is that no matter the variety of suggested feels/thoughts offered for a particular element of the swing, they are all directed at getting different golfers to achieve the same desired motion or position. (It's like a multiple choice test with no wrong answer!)
      Thanks for sharing your success and keep up the great work!!

    I watched my golf swing on a video my buddy shot of me in a tournament. Wow! what a revelation!!! I could not believe that this was the swing that I have been working on for 30 years. Yes, I was a 10-12 handicap for over 10 years. Yes, sometimes i could get a good round in the high 70's but not repeatable and add in the occasional high 80's was not uncommon. Very
    Frustrating to be playing all these years and not scoring consistently in the 70's! Long story short... I started watching Tom's video's... a lot. He has a simple method. not too many swing thoughts. I had immediate success getting into the 70's many times this spring. then I reverted to my old chop over the top. High scores again. I stuck with the videos and I have been shooting in the 70's often. I have been in the 70's 4 out of 6 rounds recently. In summary, His method works. Stick with it. It works. down to a 9.6. Now if I could putt and chip! Thanks Tom.

    Tom...I just got Bennett and Plummer’s Red Book. Tremendous read.
    On page 56 they expand on tilting the lead shoulder down by saying...
    “there is another aspect of the spine action that must happen on the backswing: The spine must rise up out of its address tilt toward the ball. To understand this, look at it this way: If you only tilted to the left and turned your shoulders, your head would move down, changing your distance to the ball. So as you tilt to the left , you must also fully stretch your spine, from tilted forward to vertical”...Page 57 has a great pic of Snead from behind. His spine position illustrates this perfectly.
    Personally I’ve been trying to switch to Stack and Tilt for a few months now but I’ve still been somewhat inconsistent. I think I’ve been over-exaggerating the downturn of my lead shoulder, moving my head down, and changing my distance to the ball.
    After reading the above passage in the book a light bulb went off. I immediately went to the range and worked on turning my left shoulder down AND stretching/extending my spine at the same time.
    It felt odd to try to synchronize both movements at the same time but as I developed the sequence (turning shoulder down and stretching the spine) my ball striking got KFC Super Crispy!
    I feel that this stretching of the spine was my missing piece to the puzzle and that I’ve turned the corner on my swing change.
    Can you address this ?
    Thanks so much for everything you do! You are the best golf instructor on CZcams hands down !

      @gordon ritchie,
      I routinely recommend the S&T book as it serves folks well as a textbook reference guide for the swing and is highly supportive of what is taught here and in the online school that you are enrolled in!
      I've addressed the extension of the spine in various channel videos, though sometimes it comes disguised as a "feel". For example, early in this particular video that you are commenting on I talk about keeping your head in place as you tilt. If you do that, then magically you will summon the two other body motions of turning and extending!
      Chapter 2 of the Golf Swing Simplified course in the SagutoGolf online school provides plenty of detail on the tilt/turn/extend motions, and it will track well with what you referenced in the book. I suggest that you review this chapter and supplement your learning there with the book as needed.
      I'm very glad to know you are beginning to experience the crispy contact that is a trademark of this swing!
      Thanks for your kind words and support, and stay crispy my friend!!

      That's awesome, Matt! I'm very glad to know that this lesson resonated with you; excellent job incorporating it into your swing and putting it into play.
      With regard to your lower back and hips, when properly executed this swing is very body friendly in that it does not rely on creating resistance or torque. It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. For example, having both feet flared out approximately 20 degrees, and the knees similarly angled outward are prescribed setup features of the system I teach. This orientation provides for an unrestricted 45 degrees of tilted hip turn, at which point we only need to add another 45 degrees of shoulder turn for a full 90 degrees. Add the weight-forward component and the result is a centered, stress-free motion back and through, and a very consistent, powerful swing.

      It's crazy fun, and even our kids have grown-up together. We're pretty tight.
      I play drums/sing with my buddies classic rock cover band, "Trailer Park Heroes" 😉 (also almost 20 years), but not AS much as yesteryears.
      I'm a long time bow hunter and it's deer season right now. It'll be too cold for golf by time I get the freezer full.
      But, I do plan to cut back on these things enough to ACTUALLY PLAY come spring.
      I have a set of Pin Hawk SL irons because I suck bad with anything over a 7 iron, but oddly enough, I'm pretty decent with my driver. ......?
      One question;
      On one of your fairway woods (3wood?) lessons (you were trying for over the fence😁), every shot was a huge draw.
      Was that intentional, or is it just the nature of the club? (I don't own one).

      Thanks again, I'll be signing up for the online lessons soon.

    I have studied golf and videos endlessly for years and I have to say that this one tip is probably the easiest to execute with the highest rate of success in the swing. I did it today at the range with about 100 balls and I exaggerated dropping my left shoulder down, keeping the weight on my front foot, and my left arm straight and swinging on a slight in to out path. And as you said, it is effortless and magical, and I don't have to swing hard to get good distance. I agree with your philosophy that we should never swing 100%. Anyway the proof is in the pudding and I wanted to ask you why this particular move of dropping the shoulder works on every single club including the driver. I'm very interested in understanding the physics of what is going on in a swing and I'm not quite sure I know what's happening here. I found that if I drop my shoulder in an exaggerated way it created a huge back turn and even if I forgot to keep my arm straight or swing along the path. The ball continued to go straight. Can you shed some light on the physics of what is happening and why this single move works so well? I am 69 years old and I think my handicap is around 15.

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  Před 2 lety

      Physics, geometry, and human physiology. Combine them in a complimentary manner and you'll have a powerful, consistent, low-maintenance, body-friendly swing with which to truly enjoy this great game for the rest of your life. Accomplishing this through simplified instruction is what SagutoGolf is all about. I don't have the time to get into a deep scientific discussion here, but I will say that bringing the hands inward activates the tremendous power source known as "angular momentum", and turning the shoulders in a circle back and through provides for the consistent, direct path that enables us to harness that power with a repeatable ball flight. Remember back in the day when nearly every football kicker used to approach the ball straight on? (I don't, but my dad tells me about it...) They don't do that anymore, and it's not because they're all converted soccer players. It's been proven through physics and geometry that the angular approach produces far greater force and accuracy, and as a result in the modern game field goals of 50+ yards are routine now.
      While I am unable to cover many of the minute details here in this free channel, for those who wish to delve into the finer points of the swing I suggest enrolling in the SagutoGolf online school. Infact I start my takeaway with the feeling, "left shoulder vloser to ball" and that puts the club in mition all thecwsy to top! Ball strikjng has changed so much...need to work on dtiver too...great video

    I tried the Tilt Golf Swing and it was pretty powerful. Shots were crisp going onto the Practice Green, but some went right, and some left. I think my arms are not close enough together and kept straight. Thank you for sharing this golf tip. Will continue to practice. Playing the course tomorrow and hope my scoring is good. Golf is a hard sport but this tip is a winner.

    Had some issues off the toe yesterday which I noticed with chipping by the marks on the face. Started tilting per concepts on this vid.. problem solved w/chips and dramatic difference on full swing.
