Dietrich's performance was an outstanding success, with fourteen curtain calls. At the end, she said to the audience, "We have suffered, you and I, during those terrible years [of the Holocaust]. If there is any consolation or comfort for the incalculable suffering of your people and my people, your warmth and affection has restored in me my faith in humanity. I love you dearly

Marlene's great legacy was being a force of reconciliation after ww2 and building bridges with Germania. what a great story. thank you Burt Bacharach for being part of that legend and celebrating it.
