  • Metal Detecting: The History Digger takes us along on a metal detecting adventure. Before he begins he asks the questions, "Why do we do it? Why do we metal detect?" The answer will no doubt very across metal detectorists but in this video Rob shares his answer. In fact he shows us exactly what he loves about the metal detecting hobby as he spends three days with his Minelab Equinox 800 and XP Deus metal detectors scouring the property of the Inn at Pine Terrace. The property once known as "Mon Bijou" (My Jewel) was built in the 1870s by Peter Schuttler, owner of the Chicago Schuttler Wagon company. At first this detecting adventure looks like it will be a bust then, unexpectedly the Mon Bijou decides to share one of her treasures? Watch to discover what is unearthed and to learn a bit about this wonderful property's history. Who knows....after watching you may even feel like you traveled through time!

There is much history to that place. I believe there has to be treasure there? The name "Mon Bijou" French? My Jewel. Perhaps, to stay dedicated, and to use different coils. You certainly have the tools of the trade to use. Thanks for the video!

Great video, Rob. Nice find! Why do I do it? Digging's in my family's blood I guess. My mom was a paleontologist and I've always ben interested in archeology and numismatics. Perfect fit for me!

Hi. Just came across your video. I really enjoyed it. Great find and loved the way you explained the history of the place you are hunting at. Also I would like to add that you filming is very good. It's smoothe, transitions nicely from one scene to the next. Your composition of shooting and stills is really good too. Your voice is very pleasant and articulate. I have subbed your channel and plan on watching your other vids. Keep up the great work. I hope that one day I can get a style similar to yours.

Good Morning. I am new to this. I just bought Minelab Vanquish 440 as my 1st detector. I live in Daytona Beach and I plan to walk the beaches after storms and SpringBreak, as well as some historical areas here in Florida. Have not used it yet, as, it arrives tomorrow. Any thoughts on the unit itself?
