This week on #PopCulturePatrol , ‪@civicstudios‬ and I tell you the story of Surya Sen, the subject of at least two Hindi movies.
Bengal ke ‘Masterda’ Surya Sen Indian independence movement ke leading revolutionary the, whose story caught the fancy of filmmakers Ashutosh Gowariker and Bedabrata Pain, around the same time. Kheleien Hum Ji Jaan Se was mahaa hyped, but tanked at the box office. The movie Chittagong on the other hand, which released 2 years later, went on to win the “Best Debut Film of a Director” National Award for Bedabrata Pain, who was a NASA scientist before he started making movies!
