I like how Goku reminded Yamcha he matters to him after learning of his dark future. That was very sweet.
That joke and the callbacks are so good 😂 The joke is SO dark, and really only works BECAUSE they have Goku call it out with “…dark”.
And then the follow-up “Yamcha? You’re my friend” is both funny but like, really wholesome 😂 He genuinely wants Yamcha to know that he’s there for him

oh yeah, at like 28:00 they go drive cars (there’s a filler episode where they go drive cars) but Goku is singing “I’m on a highway to HFIL”.
In the original english localization of DBZ, there was a lot of censorship, including all references to Hell. If you’ll remember Goz and Mez, the two German guys in Hell from season 1, well they’re both wearing shirts that literally just say “HELL” on them 😂 So they were edited to say “HFIL” which was claimed to stand for “Home For Infinite Losers”.
So if you hear them say “HFIL”, that’s what they’re referencing.

Fun fact, T2 was recently in theaters when this part of the Manga came out in Japan. So people often speculate that this Saga was inspired by it.
Apparently the Yamcha joke was much darker originally. If you go back to the Namek saga when Vegeta's rage broke from Gohan stealing his dragon ball, they actually revealed who Trunks was and who his parents were. Trunks hears Vegeta screaming through time and says "Daddy?" while sitting in front of Bulma.

@@MarijnvdSterrethat scene doesn't, the creator commentary videos that are currently being done, they talked about how they originally wanted that scene with Yamaha and it was much much darker.

May be my favorites abridged so far. I ve been rewatching this 3 times already.
The terminator vibes is understandable by the way, its know Akira Toriyama really enjoyed western fictions, works and movies. Since the real thing behind this arc parody aired 1992 in Japan and the terminator 1984 and the second part 1991, there's high chances the plot got some influences from there.
Even in the original Dragon Ball we had Sargeant Mettalic, which is 100% Schwarzenegger xD

Man it would’ve been so much better if he did, besides being a much cooler looking sword in my personal opinion it would’ve made much more sense and been more impactful if he had been trained in swordsmanship by yajirobe and had his sword, instead of the non existent explanation in canon and the dumbass tapion explanation from wrath of the dragon.
