Goku's not really dumb he just never had an education he's been living in the Woods his whole life and that's why Chichi makes Gohan study so hard because neither her or Goku have ever had an education.

@@AscendtionArc at the time, goku was 10. Roshi probably assumed that he knew those things already, as most other 10 year olds in dragonball do. Roshi probably didn't realize the extent to which goku was uneducated at the time.

and goku as a child was a very happy boy.
Goku hit his back when he landed on Earth when he landed as a baby. TFS made it a running joke that works perfectly. Making Goku dumb is still one of their funniest gags.

In the original Dragon Ball manga and anime Goku had always been a bit of a moron when it came to anything but fighting and it was always strongly hinted at that it was because of that hit to the head. It wasnt just a little fall either. He was dropped from the top of the crater his space pod made after it crashed and landed on his head all while being less than a year old. It was really only the english Dub of DBZ that took Goku's personality and tweaked it into the serious and kinda smart version he was. If you have had the chance to see Dragonball Super, the way Goku acts in that series is actually closer to how he was supposed to be in DBZ. If normal Goku is an 8 on the stupidity scale normally then all TFS did was crank it up too 11.

@@Earthling.7 you must not have watched the original dragon ball. I only say that because in the original goku is made stupid as a comedic choice. You see, the original dragon ball was mostly a comedy rather than a drama. In this way, son goku in dragon ball super is much closer to toriyamas original vision for goku than the Japanese superman version of goku that us American audiences were first exposed to in dbz.
the most impressive part is the whole section after "1 year later" was animated by TFS themselves
Goku's kinda stupid because he lived on his own in the woods and never interacted with another person until he was 12.
He had a Grandfather, but he died early in Goku's life so he never got to teach him much.
goku was also simply too young to really absorb a lot of info from gohan since well.. he got killed by a giant ape.
He hit his head as a child, as explained in Episode One. And Episode Eleven will pile on even more brain damage.
he's not super dumb in the original but TFS made it a running joke because they have so much room from the original series to put in their jokes. it would be harder if they did this on other anime but Dragonball has a very simple plot that they could add so much to it.
Original Goku is stupid. He is not really heroic either. He just loves fighting. Goku is intelligent when it comes to fighting. His fight IQ is extremely high.
The way they set it up you guys will have a couple more movies to view. They are set up to play during seasons 2 and 3. You guys are in for a funtastic time watching this series. Seeing you guys watching this makes it that much more fun. 😄 Can't wait for more reactions guys. Take care
Goku is stupid because he was raised in the woods by an old man who didn’t take him to school. He also hit his head as a baby. Goku is not as in-your-face stupid in the anime. He lacks experience with social situations in original Dragon Ball and he never had education, so he rarely displays “intelligence” outside of combat.
With regards to the apparent paradox of Goku being simultaneously the dumbest person ever and still one of the strongest and most capable fighters in the universe, outside of the obvious humour value, I've basically head-canoned it as being that 99.9% of his brain power is focussed entirely and specifically on fighting, and the other 0.1% is on food.
Come on food has a higher percentage than that.
I just remembered there are actually 8 more dbza movies in line. One of them is a Christmas movie but the rest are within seasons 2 and 3.
It's known goku hits his head by accident when falling from his earth grandpa backpack into a cliff as a kid, almost a baby.
He lost any memory from his home saiyan planet, also the bad agresive (saiyan) mood he used to have before that and probably also the answer to your question: why is Goku stupid and strongest?

Goku is actually a fighting GENIUS but he isn’t book smart and lacks social tact, that being said the Abridged version exaggerates it.
I know it's been a while (I'm just watching yall react to earlier episodes whilst waiting for the newer ones) but to chime in, Goku is a fighting savant, like, legitimately but he fails in everything else. lmao
I highly recommend watching Goku's fights in Dragon Ball Super's Tournament of Power even if you haven't already seen anything else Dragon Ball related, just to see how masterful Goku gets as a fighter. Lots of fans dislike Super but personally I think it's a lot of fun and I loved it, especially the movies (Super Hero is INCREDIBLE and Broly is pure fighting insanity) and new characters.

Hahaha, she had some good reactions, im staying 😏👌 In this timeline they defeated the saiyans and Piccolo didn't die... although that scene is Gohan's dream when he remembers Piccolo sacrificing for him was real in the movie... So idk, I guess that didn't kill him here 🤔

Although Goku isn't all that dumb in the original and is a total badass in the fights he's been...dbza portrayed him alot more dumber than he actually he is for comedy purposes...plus he would've probably become ruthless like vegeta is if he didn't hit his head when he was a kid...

In the original he has this twisted mentality when he acts stupid and goofy as hell in casual times but becomes a complete badass and smart during fighting... it's how i see it... you've seen the fight against frieza in dbz... he was mad disrespectful against frieza like how a saiyan supposed to be(dub)

i see you are skipping the older movies and heading right into one of the midway movies. nothing wrong with that.. but feel free to head back to the older ones, cause despite their lower quality (because they were in-experienced back then) they are still very funny so they are worth a check.

Goku legit is that stupid from hitting his head as a kid. Fighting and getting better as they do so is natural for saiyans, but he's a prodigy probably because of the brain damage as well. But seriously, he only first learned what a kiss was in Dragon Ball Super which is the current running series. Vegeta's literal response was "you're married with children! How have you never kissed anyone?!"
Goku is dumb cause this abridged series thinks its funny to make goku dumb for laughs....plain and simple....he has the more screen time usually in fights so the only way to make their series work is to make his dialogue stupid....or else we won't laugh much cause most of goku screen time in z is fighting which they cut around and aren't allowed to show too much of due to toei...goku is naive but he's not dumb in combat in the series...when it matters he's serious but he makes mistakes like when he let raditz tail go...
The guy who originally voiced Yamcha( the one character they showed getting exploded) for Team Four Star had an falling out with the rest of the group and as a result after getting a new person to voice him they constantly made fun of the character throughout the rest of the series as a way of mocking the original voice actor.
