Jerry Reed's talent was immeasurable. Always made those ridiculously hard guitar parts look like a walk in the park on a Sunday morning while singing and making jokes was unreal.. What a performer and inspiration !

The Southern Nights counterpoint licks. An unfair balance of talent, charisma and humor. What a monster.

Mind Blown. UNBELIEVABLE talent. He must be the the most underrated guitarist in history.

Jerry Reed is my favorite guitar composer and player of all times. Each one of his songs is a wonderful puzzle even for advanced guitar players. I think he was a rare gem and was hardly recognized as he should have been. Too bad the mob prefers cheap pop songs.

I like this one even more than the studio version

Completely agree. He's using the intro of Stumpwater as the intro and as a 2 5 in the verse. He has been playing it a few years at this point I guess. Great performance from a seasoned professional and one hell of guitar player.

2:01 is my favorite moment on CZcams. Jerry absolutely knowing and feeling that he's slaying it and giving himself 2 seconds to get all the way into it. Perfection.

Jerry Reed is such an inspiration, love the song. This is one of my favourite guitars he plays, it has a real nice tone. Sounds like a cedar top classical, probably from the studio.

Jerry Reeds signature riff if there ever was one. Also on Eight More Miles and his version of Don't think Twice its alright amongst others (such as stump water like you mentioned)

@@FatLadyKiller he plays a lot of E, E7 and A7 and B7 compined with C# and F# and of course he always plays his signarue lick which you can learn on you tube..
The downside is he tunes his guitar a half step down for this song
