  • Harry Pillsbury was a tremendous chess player and a tremendous showman. His blindfold exhibitions invigorated a young Capablanca, and he enchanted people as the man behind the chess automoton, Ajeeb. His games against World Champion Lasker were always particularly inspiring, win or lose. Here is his masterpiece.

I also regret that in the early days matches weren’t standardized. I wanted to see Lasker play Maroczy, whom I like him a lot, as a few times he was only right behind or near Lasker in tournaments. And Pillsbury in the late 1890s, and Rubinstein around the early 1910s. And I wish Capablanca actually played another match between 1921 and 1927, maybe against Nimzo or maybe even Spielmann. So many missed opportunities. 😢
Thanks for another great one, Teach. 💯💯💯

Yes, the first time in a few decades since Kasparov and the PCA, and in several decades since Alekhine’s death. But at least it could be interesting seeing Ding in a match now…
      Cheers Teach. 🙂

I personally like the Saga Type series on one of the great players of the past, as e. g. Tarrasch, Botvinnik, Karpov. Also, for me as an intermediate clubplayer these older games are easier to comprehend and to learn from.
As for your Chanel, I particullary like the Clearing and eloborated language you use. So I do not only enjoy the chess but also practice my English.
Thanks a lot for your content, Sam, and good luck with your channel's growth! 🙂🤞
