Hairpin legs is so 1950's, love it. With that said, a 6 degree bevel up to a thin flat edge to the upper face on the lower side would make this mid century for sure. Nice job Matt.
Like to recommend that you use veneer for the back, especially with MDF. The wood veneer top will move depending on environmental conditions and the bottom MDF will not and will result in unequal tension and the top will cup. You can use an inexpensive veneer as a backing. Contact cement is designed for plastic laminate not wood veneer. Contact cement never fully cures and is quite soft. This type of adhesive could lead to creeping or adhesion failure later on. Regular PVA glue is a better choice with the best choice using a veneer glue such as Unibond 800. No creepage. You only apply the glue to the substrate and not the veneer. Cheers, Brian
