thanx mate,this vid helped me.after my 2 yr old son put toothpaste in my disk tray,i tried to fix it and it worked but then my tray got jammed closed.taking the tray apart to unstick it also gave me the chance to clean up the drive belt with a babywipe to remove the rest of the toothpaste and now,it works again.THANK YOU!!
because you need a new drive belt, or refurbish the one you got. over time the drive belt gets dry and starts to slip on the motor when you eject the tray. You can clean it with alcohol then scuff it up, as well as the pully it rides on. Hope that helps!
what about a disk tray stuck halfway open? you said in your vid, showing how to repair a disk drive all the way open, that one stuck half way is a whole different vid. is this the fix for that too?
W does my drive get stuck only when I close it without a game in it? Would this fix also solve that problem? I can say I'm not going to do it because I don't want to void my warranty in case of a real emergency. Also, if for some reason someone does close it without a disc inside, what I do is similar to this. I take a flat head and lift from the bottom left of the drive face as I hit eject, takes a few tries but I hate doing it because I feel like I might break it every time.
can someone help me see i took my xbox slim apart to mod waw and i guess i messed something up an now the laser goes eeeeeeeeeek and in 2 seconds it will say opean tray and theres a disk inside it and i really neeed the help for someone to help me out so im thinking i have to buy a new laser and shit ugh

yes. you wont break it trust me. i've done at least 30 so far. its a common problem with the slim drives and semi common with the older drives

thats a drive belt issue, not a drive track issue.

I have done what is showed in the video but for for some reason it still sticks. The bottom piece wont move and I can not figure out why. Please help
