Hi Ben - another wonderful video - epic wildlife shots - which expedition company was this trip with ? Despite the unforseen engine issues it seems as though the wildlife shots were excellent. I know you have gone with nature world safaris in the past ? ANy thoughts on best options for svalbard trips and which companies provide a better experience for tourism/photography/adventure ?

Stunning & inspirational images as always! One of the hardest things to expose when it comes to wildlife is polar bears with a snow background! Do you use "evaluative" metering or "spot" on the bear fur to get the true color? I'd love to know your process... thanks! ;) cheers!

Hey man! I usually have the histogram visible in the viewfinder and shoot on manual mode. My camera is set to evaluative metering but I use the histogram to underexpose and preserve the details in the fur 🙏🏼

Dear Ben, what reason made you change from Sony to Canon? Or did you specifically rent the Canon equipment for this trip?

I have fully converted back to Canon! I started photography with Canon gear and have always loved using their cameras. Sony brought some game changing features with the A7R and that was what made me change for a few years until Canon caught up. Happy to be back :)

This was a totally safe voyage and route, just had an unexpected engine problem that meant we got stuck in a super remote area for a few days while waiting for another ship to tow this one back to port. The engine is fixed now 🙂
