This year I had played mainly lot of fps and competitive games and this game was a nice change of pace for me. Like you said It's not special or ground breaking in any areas but just enjoying the music, the interactions with people and scenery was enough for me.
I'm looking forward to playing firewatch.
I finished this game in game pass. Took me 7h. I have a mixed feelings. To me it is like an average game with a plus which is I gave me this relaxed feeling through the first week of driving the delivery truck (this sadly wear off later on, and become boring).
It feels like number of things or choices do not really matter everything is barely scratching the surface. In one instance I deny a further conversation with a character and the next they it continued like we did have this conversation and agreed upon something we never discussed.
If you already have game pass you might give it a try, if you are not a big fan of walking sims - stay away. As I mentioned to me this is an average experience (5/10).
And I liked many games like: SOMA, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, Firewatch, What Remains of Edith Finch, The Stanley Parable that all might be classified as walking sims.

Sounds like a laid back game. Slow walking in any game is irritating.
It seems they could have really gone with a little more detail, even accounting for the simple overall design of characters and environment. There are some things that take me out a bit of the game, like the water, shadows etc
I like the game it gives a nice relaxing escapism with a hint of truth we all want to reconnect with our childhood friends memories and experiences and we all know that one cat lady since having a child my friendship bubble has shrunk dramatically not that I’m bothered it’s a part of life and growing up but I’m lucky my childhood best friend is still my best friend and we often reminisce on old times this game captures this aspect and after playing it you want to message you mate you haven’t spoken to in 20 years and meet up for a beer and a catch up the game itself isn’t perfect but the essence of remembering youth and good times is what it’s about and I feel that is lost if you just study the game mechanics
Was a cool game to chill out.

The walking speed would kill me !!!!!!
Just started this game because it's leaving gamepass,I'm enjoying it so far but one thing that sticks out to me is how slow the walk and jogging speed is,I get it's suppose be relaxing but I feel like I'm a grandma walking I feel like Mildred would smoke me in a race
Mildred is a total badass. It's no shame to be beaten by the best.
Great game ,I enjoyed the demo , but guess what I can’t buy it now , because I can’t find it on the store front , searching for lake , doesn’t bring it up, and under new games it’s not there , so I guess we don’t get it here in Aus

Playing this on Xbox one.it’s alright.I was a little excited to finally play it , but gosh, not much going on for the frame rate to tank so bad.The first State of Decay plays faster and better with much more going on. A lot of stuttering and a little ugly on the texture front.needed a little more optimization before release.
