He teaching the trick to everyone so noone gets scammed
At about 4:20, he should have said "You condition their brain to follow the first card". Not the"3" or the "diamond". When they're conditioned to follow the first card, that's when you deal from the top of your 2 cards. That's the key to the 3 card monte.
There is another version where the target card is given a slight dog ear (twist) at one corner. They think you dont know this and then you rapidly straighten that card and dog-ear another as you pick up and do the swap as well.... nasty that one!
I always teach/ learn the “throw” with the cards bent the opposite way. That way you get to see the actual card faces during the game. Much easier to visualize routine development.
was with my family in the streets of new york and we saw someone doing this. i was 18 so i was legal and my dad is telling me don;t its a scam I cannot win. Had it not been for your tutorial i would not have been able to anti-scam them. I knew the trick and i knew which card to follow. After i won twice in a row the guy got up and walked away. (After he paid up.)
They only let you win a few because they scammed enough other people. If they haven't a shill will override your bet with a higher one, and instead you will get your money back, and the shill will win if he bet on your card or lose if he bet on a different one. If this happens to you, don't bother trying again. It's very rare that you will get to win even once, even if you pick it. Also if you are allowed to win, then you are helping them scam other people, by proving they can be beaten by a non shill.
You're spot on. I am a NYer and they will have plants and gaffs all over. especially if they pull in huge money Best advice after scamming a scammer is to go hang out with NYPD and buy them a coffee. Scammers also know time is money and will let a couple hundred walk if it takes too long to attempt a mugging. They also wont risk jail for a scam they will make the money back on tomorrow. They'll be pissed but they understand losses and gains better than anyone. @Impromptu
careful, people doing this scam are criminals and if you try to outsmart them they can follow you rob you and hurt you
@@shragikriger5979 True. So Rob them if you can and find a cop
He let you win. Even if you know the scam and pick the right card, then they will do a "mexican turnover" and you will lose anyway
Interesting that his friend started a magic trick site but doesn't know any magic
Love the Piper reference " Just when you have all the answers I change the questions."
Even if your visual acuity is so high that you can follow the money-card every time, the people who run this sort of game will assault and rob you if you "win".
I don't think generally they'd do that, there are ways to ensure you never win even if you "catch on" to what they are doing, and even if you understand it they can make your chances no better than 50% really though, if you get that one 50% chance win! you more than likely aren't going to be winning again.
MrBigenstien I think they can make your odds 33% because they can do "the move" more than once.
But if you had the ability (supernatural as it would be) to see through "the move", and you persisted in playing, I suspect that you're likely to be robbed. At least, that's what I've heard, and it seems plausible.

Great tutorial. Really helps that you actually teach someone so they can make the same mistakes we would and ask the same questions. Do you know the velvet turnover and can you teach it the same way?? Good work fella
Awesome Thanks so much for the tutorial!!!!!! So excited that you uploaded!!!!! Best teacher and performer ever( btw congrats on mismags contest!) :)
Feeling privileged to learn this with David.. Virtually.
Thank you jarek 1:20. Because of you me and my friend signed up for the talent show at my school
Might have been easier, to bend the cards the opposite way, so that you can watch what the cards are doing the whole time, to practice/learn.
No! U just write the card on the back, like K◇, Q♧ etc...
Rowdy Roddy Piper! I love the little references Jarek makes
I rode the CTA in Chicago in the evening for about a year, and watched this and the shell game in amazement. At a specific station, a group of people would get on who were clearly working together, but pretending they didn't know each other. One of them would "win" then lure someone, usually an immigrant - to bet, take their money, the whole group would get off at the next stop, and catch the next train back towards downtown. Repeat and rinse. There is no way CTA security did not know this was going on. If they had a guard on the platform where they changed trains, the whole thing would unravel. There was absolutely no reason a person would make that train switch.
Things haven't changed much because I saw the same thing about twenty five years ago. I didn't even know about the scam but I was able to sniff them out. I looked at the lady and shook my head but she still got scammed.
Funny that you actually think police or security would do anything about criminals on the trains. That's racist don't you know that??
And THAT is the trick to 3 card Monty.Throwing the top card down instead of the bottom card thereby making the audience think they know where the card is placed on the table.
The best 3 card-monte I have seen was a street guy in Seattle. He would bend the corner of the card you were looking for and was kind of obvious about it. You would be thinking how can I lose with the corner bent, only one of the cards have a corner bent. But of course, somehow when he mixed the cards up the bent corner would "jump" to the wrong card. genius
They usually have partners in the crowd, when you bet on the right card, the partner goes in and bets higher on the wrong card... The scammer then says "sorry, i have to go with the higher bet" and gives you your money back. All wins they payout are to partners in the crowd. Never ever play any game on the streets.
That is cheating.
Love that ending line.
Rise Above
I have always wondered how this was done! Thanks, im gonna practice this
This was great! Thanks guys!
It's not a scam !! you have 33.3% to win !! even if you did not follow the right card, for example you were watching the sky. the scam is when they put 3 queen cards and telling you to find the king card.
Love your channel btw! :P
A long time ago I got scammed out of $60 in NY while on a date. Strangely it makes me remember the date vividly all these years later lol
Thank you! Heading to my kitchen table now to practice this trick.
dude, great tutorial, thanks!
is that kid from 1990?
thenikkhazami
Lol that old school Michigan sweatshirt is nice though.
Really needs a better haircut.
no hes a jew!!! listen to him its all about the money lol
Right?
The hair helmet..thought that went out w the 90 s
10yo video with better quality content of almost any video this days
so, i'm thinking...... what if you chose the card you DON'T think is the one ? wouldn't you stand a one in two chance of being right ?
So this dude owns a magic shop on the internet, but doesn't know how 3 card monty works? Really dude.
TheYummyBurrito also doesnt know what a hair cut is
Nathan Devine oh shit
He is slow because these cards dont say "Credit" on them.
lololololololololololololololololol lol
This student sucks; he can't even hold the cards correctly.
Guy doesn't even know what a swing cut is, but has a magic website?!
I wasn't talking about Evan, i was talking about David
Ok lol
I have followed u for Soo many years from when u started urban channel
I'm wearing the exact blue shirt as this guy...you just earned a sub!
Haha this is one of disturb reality best videos, funny and good
this was uploaded on my birthday, and i love this scam :D
scary how easy this scam is, much less practice than a typical magic trick
thank u so much it is such a awesome trick didnt think id get it but its so simple.
I'd like to see you do this in NYC, and try to scam back the three/four street cons - by telling them to watch the spade.
so basicly, if you know that theyre doing this trick, you can fool them, by watching their fingers, so you know which card they actually throw, thats even better to know, than the trick itself, so you can scam them while they scam
Kevin derpxD Remember if they're doing this in the streets, all the people losing beforehand are in on the trick and you're the target. It's a gang. If you win, they will probably gang up on you, beat you up and take your money anyway. If you see this game on the streets, walk away.
Nivesh Proag thanks for reminding me... got a little excited there :S
@@niveshproag8660 also if they notice you got the right one, someone from the crowd whos in on the trick would top your bet and theyll say something like "highest bet counts" and yea
No because after the "hype" (top card trow) they teach the scammer to switch fingers on the card. So you can't determine if it's a bottom card trow or a hype.
NO--they won't pay. Ever. You can't scam them, "fool them," nothing. You point to right card, their shill will top your bet. It's not a trick, it's a staged production. Anyone saying they beat the game is pulling your leg.
Excellent video. Thanks.
This tutorial is overly complicated in my opinion, I learned this track when I was 12 and never practiced 'picking up 2 cards with one hand'. Just pick up the 2 black cards using thumb and index finger with each hand and practice picking up the red card using your thumb and middle finger with each hand ( while holding the black cards ) . Show the red card , throw it to the other side , pick it up with the other hand , show it , and throw it back to the other hand , show it again. >>>
Thank you I actually amazed my kid like six times👍your awesome
2:21 just here in my garage but what i like is these bookshelves but whats better than that is knowledge the more you learn the more you earn
+Abram Porras hahaha
Lmao good one
That dude looks like he just walked out of the 90's
the disturbed reality dude makes glasses look good.
I told you what happens if you pick the right card by chance. The scammer will not let you win unless it's about peanuts and he figures a small win will make you or others bet more. They don't play fair! And if you think you can outwit a professional scammer... well, let me know how that works out for you. If it weren't for people who think they could win, these guys wouldn't have an income.
DUDE THATS AWESOME!
Fuckn love that hair David
for the performance the first one he got wrong i still got i noticed a really quick switch!
I have never lost at Monte, it’s really easy to follow the card even when they do the sleight of hand.
No it isn't, not if they're good at it, even you could be fooled. Guaranteed.
its not! if they do it well you cant!!
Beautiful routing
great video...love it...awsome!
you can change the "question" otherwise, i accedently did it while i was trying this. when you have 2 cards in one hand and trew one on the table you can trow it to the left(or right) side in stead of the middle, if you do this fast you wont notice this.
you make good video's ill try to watch them all :)
i think i just learned the trick 3 times over.
I have watched this video once and I already tricked my mom ! You rock! ;)
If you actually find the right card, one of the stooges is going to bet more money on another card and the dealer will tell you that he only accepts the highest bid. You literally can't win.
Subscribed !
why the make it this hard, turn them around, fold them (bend) the other way around and perform the trick cards open, so you see how you scam by throwing the different one over
Agreed. There are three elements here - I'll call them the grip (picking up two cards in one hand), the throw (dropping the first or second card, seamlessly), and the shuffle (obvious) - and all three can be practiced independently, with the cards face up (bent the wrong way) so you can see what you're doing. You don't have to learn and practice the entire trick as a unit - learn each element, practice each element, start putting the elements together, and THEN turn the cards face-down. I practice false cuts & shuffles with the top card face up so I know immediately if I missed and can stop & correct it.
you should have included the more complex version, where a "random" person makes a small bend at the edge of the card and you can STILL scam the person("the mark")
@MRDYSE13 Yup, be in the Santa Monica/LA area from Jan 4-18 with plans to move out there soon after that.
But how do I do 3 card monte like steven bridges?
You didn't mention the other part of the scam. Usually, the dealer states he must always take the highest bet from the group of observers. So, if by chance you figure it out, and want to bet on the correct card, someone else in the set-up team will out-bid you in order to make sure that the scam team doesn't ever lose. You never ever have a chance to win your money back.
Very nice tutorial.
That kid's hair tho!!! And the hairline!!!
That's the real magic!
Showing trick on the table-tennis table :D
I have been doing this one for 20+ years. It is impossible to detect when done properly - even for those who know the secret. In the very beginning, I quickly swing the hand holding the 2 cards under the other hand, concealing the release of the top (or bottom) card.
9w9pw011
Ja Son what if someone guesses? It's hard to switch the cards without the spectator getting very suspicious
its 0.333 for him to guess right, not so much...@@lukesymmons
perfect!
What happend to David Castle? I used to follow him and then a few years ago he stopped posting videos
I knew where the spade was when he performed the monte scam.
I have not watched it before but I realised that if it is a a scam, I have to know all the time where it is... I knew everytime where it was and then I learned the trick for myself in the way I think it's done... I have only watched till 2:07
Dear Dave, using your scam I paid for my University fees! You're awesome, and I love your friends buffoon, it reminds me a lot of Amy Winehouse, may she rest in peace.
nice, did you scam your tutors for free lectures or what? 😅
very good video . thank you
What's happened to David Castle?
I used to watch his magic videos but there's been nothing from him in about 8 years. Why? 🤔
much appreciated for this vid...so now my next question would be, can you "win" now that you know the trick and take all their money or is it still to hard to "win" on the street? (yes i never played this in vegas/NY/cali)
its depend on how much the scammer do it well, also if he recognize that you knew the trick he can throw the bottum card and stuff like that.
For demonstration purposes wouldn’t it be easier to do this with the cards face up?
When you think that you know where is money card, dont pick it, pick different card. Then you have 50:50 chance haha
I see that IU shirt in the background, you Indiana too?
So how do they do the trick of bending and unbending the corner?
Actually, this is not how the really good guys do it. Some do it like this, but if you watch you will see some where long sleeves. They use a method that cannot fail like this one. They play with two black jacks and a red one, and also show the cards and mix more along the way. When they want you to lose, they show both the red and a black jack to distract you, then they slide another black jack down in place of the red and pull it in after palming it.
So in a nutshell; get the mark used to seeing the 3 drop first then pull the ol' switcheroo by dropping the king first.
Now I know how 3 Card Monte works.
No, you know how one very old and known method of monte works. There are lots of sleights that are used in three card Monte and I could even fool you into thinKing I did that switch move when I actually hadn't, thus making your little bit of knowledge your weakness instead of an advantage to you!
I don't think this give you an advantage over the 3 card monty hustlers... So basically now you have to guess whether he's throwing the top of bottom card.
well done!
Thumbs up, enjoyed!
Is this a full length feature film?
It forever amuses me when people say things like "this is supposed to trick people?" on videos revealing how something is done... But, anyways, Disturb Reality can you provide any tips on the release of the top card? I constantly clip the bottom card as it falls, or have it fall on it meaning I have to slide it out from beneath, or it all goes well, but the card spins slowly and lands at a telling angle >.
what if i just play like twice and then stop
I remember this game at the Indy 500 party,I was played out of $20 and was pissed.
Very good, thank you.
I had no problem following the three of spades, I was surprised the stooge picked the wrong card.
i only get to go to a magic store 1 a year for b-day so i dont like to bend cards how can i bend them back????
cool im getting the hang of it thx for the easy tutorial :D
Nice crib down there :D
Around the world I'm a magician no one can beat me in any type of trick...I know everything it's blooming. .
That's why I always say "don't hold two cards in one hand" because as you think the bottom card is being dropped, he is actually opening his fingers around the card over and slinging it down as if it's the bottom card being dropped. After he drops the first card the card left in that hand is always the odd card.....or better yet....good Palmer's actually switch out the card and there is no odd card...I beat New Orleans street hustlers by grabbing both outside cards and flipping them over and saying "middle card". Money taken, game over😎
No! Its just the throw , the way you hold em doesn't change!
Awesome!
dilemmix i
EXCELLENT VIDEO....Thanks....
Best tutorial for three card monte
good teacher!
