Read about this episode from screenrant:
Lessons in Chemistry episode 4 jumped between timelines for some big reveals before introducing the turning point of the miniseries with Elizabeth’s new job offer. Lessons in Chemistry will have 8 episodes in total, which would suggest that the story is at or approaching its halfway point, but in many ways, it’s still just getting started. Lessons in Chemistry is based on the best-selling book of the same name by Bonnie Garmus that provides a template for the Apple TV+ miniseries with numerous major reveals still waiting to be seen onscreen.
The Lessons in Chemistry cast is led by Brie Larson, who is also co-executive producing the project, as chemist-turned-television host Elizabeth Zott. Lessons in Chemistry’s first three episodes served to establish Elizabeth as a character, her heartbreaking relationship with renowned chemist Calvin Evans, and tease what’s to come. Now that everything’s been set up, the miniseries is able to dive into the story of how Elizabeth became an iconic figure of her time. Lessons in Chemistry had shown glimpses of a future timeline in those episodes, but episode 4 started to make that timeline the present one with a seven-year time jump towards the end.
Lessons in Chemistry episode 3 was largely centered around Elizabeth’s grief over losing Calvin and the discovery that she was pregnant with his baby. Thus, it was only natural that episode 4 would continue this by focusing on Elizabeth navigating motherhood following the birth of their daughter, Mad. She was born at the start of the episode in a scene that highlighted just how much has changed with labor, delivery, and parental roles since Lessons in Chemistry’s time period. Elizabeth was drugged during her delivery, and when she woke up, a nurse advised her to name her daughter after how she was feeling at the moment, hence the name Mad.
This all being said, enjoy the scene.

Her : I work three jobs
This guy : You want one more?
Hahahah!
Woman is supposed to stay at home and cook foods for husband and family, not coming and tell the man what supposed to do, she's just a woman.
To be fair, he offered her a job that could potentially monetarily replace the two she was working. Of course pay isn’t discussed but being on television seems to pay quite a lot.
In the book she switched because she would get paid more as a cooking show host
OMG, the dialog between them with, 'My daughter is extremely well-fed'...'I'm aware, because I'm the one that's been feeding her." I HOWLED!! She made her dignified point very well, so there's nothing he could say after that. Looks like Amanda is gonna have to find herself another meal ticket...LOL!
*dialogue
@@K.Spade7902 What are you the spelling police? 176 people so far knew what I meant without correction. Good grief!
@@K.Spade7902Dialog is a "non-standard", but acceptable, variation of the word, especially in American English. (Merriam-Webster regards it as legitimate).
@@conishkeeSee my reply to K.Spade 7902. 😊
The “he wasn’t really busy” at 1:40 will always be funny to me lol.
Busy for much of us, please make an appointment, I don’t like unexpected visitors.
I thought he is going to propose her for being the mother of both.😂😂
to be honest, we thought so too :))
Hahaha
Methodical, intelligent and a woman with character! She's undoubtedly someone with little charisma but the sharpness of her mind may be an expression of genuine charisma that not everyone can see.
A friend in college noticed the bestn cooks on her dorm floor were the chemistry majors.
that's really a thing?!
@@cinematicwonders1856 If you understand the chemistry of cooking, you'll be able to do... more with it? I'm not sure how to explain. I grew up watching the show Good Eats which always took the time to explain the hows and whys of different cooking methods down to the science. If you know how something works you know how to manipulate it better.
I mean 😂 ask anyone who bakes, it IS chemistry! Cooking is art but you can science the heck out of it!!
Have you ever accidentally add just a little too much butter to a cake? Yeah ✨chemistry✨
My bestie’s fiancé is a hydrologist with a chemistry degree and MAN I love dinner at their house 😂😂😂😂
The most influential book for cooks in the last 40 years is arguably 'On Food and Cooking' by Harold McGee which explores the science of food. It's a wonderfully erudite exploration of why some cooking techniques work, mixed in with great cultural references and a overview of the World's cuisines. But it's bedrock is biochemistry, and it appeals to scientists.
@@derekfancett8218 Thank you for the tip! Just placed a hold on a copy at my local library. Popular book, it seems.
Literally came into the comments to see if anyone noticed the tupperware pot she happily took the pie in and handed over. 😂
We had that same Tupperware !
It was the kind you could “burp” 😉
I am very greedy with my tupperwares, what she did is so unimaginable to me.
Her giving them even more of her food....its like needing tree fity for the lochness monster
With all the blockbuster movies she is been doing lately, the world sometimes forget what a gift of an actor Brie Larson is, i hope she gets over her tentpole phase & comes back to those acclaimed indie gems that skyrocketed her career in the first place
Love her in this and in scott pilgrim, she got stiffed with the captain marvel dialogue
If you like her, try the show: The United States of Tara.
Using science to make m3th ❌
Using science to COOK ✅🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥
Best role she ever played
so far, maybe.
Very well written and acted!!!! Thumbs up!!!! 😍 😍
one of the best mini series of the last few years, no doubt.
At that point he’s like can I pay you to provide for her please
Stuart can't afford that
Amazing, love the show!
I object to the title, no way those two girls aren't friends!!! They share lunches so the better one gets eaten way faster, and the crappy one gets ignored.
well, I haven't spoken to the girls so I cannot be sure, but your theory seems plausible.
Brie is great as a weird, robotic but caring intellectual. Where was this energy when she played Captain Marvel?
Acting...
you know, the story is important
Poor script and story. She is an Oscar best actress.
it is a marvel movie after all... they're all damn cringe and stupid
She didn't like Captain Marvel as much, and she is stuck in the contract lol.
So this is what Gale Boetticher was doing before meeting Gus Fring.
I kind of think it is the perfect approach. Very pushy with her presence but never directly insulting the father. It's like playing on a knife's edge between socially acceptable persuasion and bullying.
This whole scene actually makes me miss my mother dearly, who I have not spoken to in many years. Our relationship is broken.
Why is it broken. If you miss your mother, clearly she's a good mother for you to miss her.
@@martinqizeaq She’s stuck in a religious cult.
@@martinqizeaq missing a lover does not mean they were a good lover, nor does a parent does.
Call her. Life is too friggin' short.
Oooooh..... maybe just call her and say you love her & miss her.... then get off the phone. If that's what you need... ❤ I'm sorry, that's insanely hard... 😢
And you see the real reason why the daughter really didn't want to be in the same room.
I love Brie Larson❤❤❤
how can anyone not love her?! she is so sweet!
Brie is fantastic.
true words.
Couldn’t finish the book…
why not?! it is a fairly written romance. is it not?
@@cinematicwonders1856 I found it boring, elitist and predicable.
@margo3367 Elitist? Wow. Just proved Elizabeth Zott's/Bonnie Garmis point. IMO (Bookworm for 67 years, here)
@@xstlady52 I was expressing my opinion also. I’m a bookworm too. I was also a secretary for 40 years and I resented the hell out of the way she described her protagonist’s support staff. If you’re into that sort of thing, where the beautiful lady has it all and things just keep turning up roses for her despite life’s little inconveniences/tragedies well then, have at it. But, I couldn’t finish the book. I thought it was drivel.
@margo3367 I agree the book started slow, but I stuck with it and Zott did NOT have everything 'coming up roses.' She was sexually assaulted by her faculty thesis 'mentor. Her work at the institute later was plagiarized. Her partner died and she struggled as a single mother in the 50's to pursue her profession and raise a daughter.
What happened next with the daughter?
no spoilers, sorry :)
Lol thats was the mlst unconventional and funniest way to approach the parent of a child stealing your childs lunch. Is there a reason your child dont like her food....heres how to cook some real food lmao...jesus i have to do everything around here lmao
Who else watching this wants chicken pot pie?😊
❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
❤😢❤🎉🎉❤❤❤
we are with you Nessa, we are with you.
Is this a personal attack or something
But he is not the bulky, his daughter is. She handled nothing. Jeez.
And there is no "bully" in this situation. Mad gave her her lunch because she wanted a friend and the other girl has a single father who is both overwhelmed and a hopeless cook.
@@Mourtzouphlos240 wow, why would they call him a bully at all? Just to make brie look better in this little clip? How pathetic
As an adult you don’t confront a child, you go to the parents who will then handle their own child.
the same parent who help bring up such a child? right@@spareaccount1969
Unless you see a child bullying or hurting you kid or another kid..a responsible adult would stop it right there and go talk to there pearents.@spareaccount1969
Does Brie Larson ever use any other facial acting other than RBF?
A typical feminist leaning series. They kill off her husband early on, so she has to go it alone.
well, if her husband were alive, they would be a happy family, and happy families usually don't make it to tv series. you know what I mean?
@@cinematicwonders1856 👍
This is based on a book and although I’m against modern hypocrisy of feminism but this series is really good. There was no politics or agenda pushed in this series.
A totally "meh" show.
come on! be fair!
@@cinematicwonders1856 I thought I was being very fair. Don't get me started on that ridiculous TV cook show, she starred in.
Okay, FINE!!! I'll admit it!
The show wasn't "meh."
IT WAS MORONIC.
At least I sat through the whole thing.
Don't count on me watching it again though.
Not going to happen. Not even with a gun to my head.
@@user-cw1gd2em6j cry 😹 🫵
So Brie Larson plays this robotic i'm-better-then-everyone character in EVERY movie and show?
Great She was a scientist and don’t watch a Television.
what’s next?
A Flying Energy Blasting Woman?! 😂
i wanna watch this show so bad but in cringe already.
Why? if this show was in 20th Century then …
Scientists were more in touch in Television and show production than u think 😂.
When someone studies for hours everyday then ends up with two jobs, a partner and a child, there’s no time for television. Anyone who’s even remotely that busy doesn’t watch tv.
