    Video number 3 of my mini marathon. I don't really find myself reading other comments but, the one below caught my eye. ABSOLUTELY NO SHADE but, I think ppl. need to know that we're Greek & NO business decision comes without TONS of research. Ppl. need to know that we're blessed with financial literacy & ALWAYS look forward to becoming more efficient & profitable. Ppl. need to know that we strive to control almost every aspect of our businesses. And then ultimately we ALL know that Deb pretty much told you what to do as she's the real brains!!!! LOL!!! Oh I kill myself. All joking aside I'm excited to watch the Season unfold & win or lose you'll share the entire journey with us. Hoping all is well Bud, Dirty Jersey out!!!!
    Oh & not sure if Deb shrunk your t-shirts but, you're lookin kinda swole at the beginning of the video Xristo!!!

    We used to run a lot of liquid and while it worked well, a lot of that had to do with weather conditions and types of accounts you have. It's an excellent pre treat but no one seemed to want to pay for pre treating. It's highly corrosive compared to regular rock salt so make sure to undercoat everything a couple times a season. We bought our mix from a local company that became too expensive and in the end it made more sense to go back to rock salt. If I remember right, when it didnt work so well was any ice storm or when it was below 10F and our local guy said he mixed in Calcium and Magnesium Chlorides for cold weather

      Interesting, thanks for the feedback. Here we always pre-salt and it is part of the contract, we get paid.
      To be honest, it sounds like your supplier was the a major failure point and why it might not have been successful for you. That's why we will be the manufacturer of our own. We will also be running 90/10 blend with headwaters so that will reduce corrosion by 60%. Also the dollars don't make sense if you have to buy it. It's too expensive. It's very cheap to make it yourself, but there is the upfront capital costs obviously. Thanks for watching and follow along to see how we do with it.

    Would recommend removing the steel curb guard pieces from the poly wings on the XLS.
    They cause the wings to pull down and tear prematurely.
    Fisher Techs recommended this as well.
    We have had to replace the entire steel cutting edge and poly wings every season on our XLS the past couple years.
    Not getting the life expectancy out of the wing edges at all.
    Trust me, take the curb guards off

      Thanks for the heads up Grumpy. Did you look at winter equipment, they have a new carbide edge system for them now.

    • @grumpy1311
      @grumpy1311 Před 9 měsíci +1

      @SnowBoss yes we have tried some of the Winter Equipment setups on XLS.
      Did not solve the issues.
      One of the Winter setups is designed for the Western Wideout, which is a full blade trip system. So the XLS being just the trip edge , does not protect the more solid Winter wing set up. Also have to drill the Fisher mounting holes wider for the Pegasus kit as the Western plow has larger bolts 🔩.
      We bent the mounting plates for the Pegasus system up pretty fast while trying to be careful. The next step would be damaging the plow wing itself. So we removed that and went back to stock.
      The stock steel cutting edge wears the corners fast IMHO which then wears the poly wings faster.
      We just put a set of Winter Equipment add on plates to the cutting edge of XLS to try get it to last. But this requires more drilling because the standard mounting holes don't allow clearance for the wings to retract, then the position of the add on plates is not near the ends to protect the corner wear of the steel cutting edge.
      We will see on that set up.
      I'm going to weld hardened steel on the back corners of the stock cutting edge to see if thar makes it hold up a bit better. Also a higher grade steel edge from Winter Equipment might resolve this. Or a carbide inset cutting edge from Winter.
      I waited to remove curb guards on stock poly edges, and then they had shifted against the mounting bolts , blocking the socket 😡 , so I had to use a torch to heat the socket and melt it over the nut to remove them.
      The Winter Equipment kits for the Xv2 plows is great... but they changed the center pieces and they are catching on the center steel on the plow now. W.E. said they had to redesign the centers because Boss was going to sue them because of the part being interchangeable with Boss , Western, and Fisher... so that's BS.
      Good luck, be safe, nice Equipment 👍

    I don't care about any of the equipment. I want to know one thing. How do you get the big contracts? Tell me exactly what happened and how you acquired them. Do a video about that or just tell me

    • @bigjoesburgers
      @bigjoesburgers Před 9 měsíci

      You bid on them accordingly or by word of mouth they call you to put in a quote usually because the last contractor left them high and dry.

    • @SnowBoss
      @SnowBoss  Před 9 měsíci

      So this one is pretty easy. I don't need to do a video. Network, cold call, get on bid lists, show up at places, websites, google, post cards, talk to other contractors, sub cpntract for other contractors, the list goes on and on.

    Are you sure storing salt brine in a metal container is a good idea?

    • @SnowBoss
      @SnowBoss  Před 9 měsíci

      Yes, very much. Everyone that does a lot of brine has these tanks. They last for a long time.
