Stage 18 of the Giro d'Italia goes over the iconic Passo dello Stelvio, Italy's highest paved road. The wintery conditions on the Stelvio often cause problems for the Giro d'Italia (think 2014 "Descent-Gate"). The roads appear clear for this year's pass, so sit back and enjoy the stunning scenery as Andrea Nicosia takes you over the final two climbs of stage 18 of the 2020 Giro d'Italia.

I'm 70 and in September I drove the Stelvio from Prad again. Unfortunately, there were far too many motorcycles and cars on the road that showed little consideration for cyclists. But I was happy that I could still get up there on a racing bike at my age. At the top I also ate a Salsiccia (Sausage)

I agree....too many cars and Motorbikes in August and September! The best time is Early June!

Great memories from my ride up the same side many years back(probably 1991?). The altitude definitely makes your legs heavy near the top. Stunning road with all the hairpins. A must for any fan of cycling climbs.

Rode up from Bormio back in 2011. 1st week in October, +17. The cycling gods were with us that day. Epic climb, must come back and go up the 48 switchback side.

Ride the Colle Agnello from Casteldelfino. Same height as Stelvio but much much harder. Last 10 k are at 10 %.

Yes, The last 10 K of the Agnello are super Hard...but the Stelvio middle part is brutal as well!

I rode the final 21 km on RGT Cycling.... now I need to try it on FulGaz. Alas, the year I was at Lake Como in October there had already been snow and freezing temperatures on the Stelvio, so I've not had a chance to ride it in reality.

The giro is way harder than the tdf, its a victory just to finish the giro imo, am i wrong? I found the stelvio much easier than last time and im over 110kg .im SO glad i did it last year as part of my triple stelvio_gavia_mortirolo ride, it was epic, the gavia was a "private" road .awesome dosnt even begin to describe it. I hope there is a vaccine so we can all return to il miaesta! The stelvio.
