  • Standing proudly amongst the pantheon of cycling’s most revered mountains, the Stelvio boasts some of the longest and most challenging climbs in bike racing. Relentless switchbacks over impossible gradients beneath extremes of weather. It is on the relentless, technical, and often treacherous slopes of the Stelvio where the most famous and revered battles have decided the fate of the Giro d’Italia’s coveted Maglia Rosa.
Jon Shubert explores the history and legends of the Stelvio and the surrounding regions, meeting people whose lives have been shaped by the mountain, and ex-professional Adam Hansen joins him as he makes his own attempt to conquer the coveted mountain.

Did it in 2023 on Stelvio Bike Day. Had sunshine and very little wind, was unbelievably good. Recommend for all who love climbing on road bikes, it doesn’t get much better.

It's a great climb. Hopefully you'll get to ride it one day 🤞

Stelvio can be extremely hard if you are to fast in the first third of the climb. Especially people who don't just want to get to the top but also with the best possible time tend to be to fast in the beginning. A sustainable speed feels slow. In the second, steepest part of the climb, you learn that a bit slower in the beginning was a good idea. The third part, turn 24 down to 1, gives the full view to the top and can be a wonderful experience or hell - depending on how much power you have left.
If you like going thru hell, give it a try, be probably 5 or 10 minutes faster and proudly publish it on strava. You got the bragging rights for the years to come.
If you like fun, keep the speed sustainable and make sure to reach the top in good condition. Be happy, you got 10 or 20 minutes longer fun than the other guy.
