On my first day in Colombo, I almost got scammed by a guy targetting tourists roaming around city center. I also encountered and experienced a couple of unexpected things making it an eventful day of filming in Colombo, Sri Lanka. I hope that you enjoy this one!

In 2013, I started my solo travel journey, leaving Indonesia in 2016 to become a full-time traveler and CZcams creator. My background in International Relations has fueled a profound interest in exploring different countries. My content focuses on exploring different cultures through the lens of a solo female traveler, aiming to capture real-life interactions and experiences.
My travels kicked off with a five-month trip across Asia, after which I moved to China in January 2017 to work as an English teacher-my first time living abroad. I left China in 2018 to fully commit to creating videos on CZcams, where I share my travels and the cultures I encounter.
Living nomadically since 2016, I settled in England in early 2022 after marrying my British husband, David. Now based in the UK, I continue to travel and share my adventures on CZcams.

Small tip - If someone tries to sell or offer anything (Something you're not interested in) just say "No Thanks, I'm Good" and walk away ignoring (don't even look again) that person. It's the best way to avoid scammers.

Visited Srilanka in 2011. Went to Colombo, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya. Loved every bit of it. Tea gardens in Nuwara Eliya were fantastic. The people were nice and friendly. Loved the food also specially fish made in Srilankan style. Would definitely love to go there again.

The 3 wheeler Drivers and Taxi Drivers should get a map and learn the areas if they do not know. Especially when foreigners use their services. The Sri Lankan people know how to get to places so they are able to instruct the Drivers. They could get a map book from one of the Book Shops.

Can't believe he is the same guy in the Blue tee-shirt at the beginning of the video who tried to con me and my friend when I was in Colombo last year in August. He started with Hello and all with a big smile and then he introduced himself saying he works in the Movenpick hotel and other things nearby. And then he wanted to show us around by telling "Today is a full moon day and therefore is a good day to buy gems." We said a plain NO, thank you. And he left with the tuk tuk waiting for him. It's a duo who works together. The entire personality changed moment we said "no thank you." 😅😅 Nostalgic anecdote.

If you need directions use google maps or ask normal person srilankans are very helpful and they can understand English or else ask it from a police man.The way you handle the people are amazing you know how to handle bad guys in perfect way.

...hmm, interesting experience watching this... I felt the uneasiness of the big city life, and you also were less relaxed and happy than usual was my feeling... I lived in a big city (Berlin) for 15 years, and loved it, but thats now a while ago, and I don't miss it... small towns, villages and a lot of nature is 'my poison' now. Specially in Colombo city like taxi drivers & sellers.
Suggest you to visit some other beautiful cities such as Kandy, Ella & Nuwara Eliya and feel the differences.

I've Been to Sri Lanka last year and was veeeery annoyed by tuk tuk drivers. As long as they saw that you are a tourist, they were always chasing us, talked to us and such..I didnt want to be unpolite, so I tried to be kind. smile at them and say "no no thank you, we dont need tuk tuk, we will walk..." But they didnt listen !! I felt veeery uncomfortable 😔
