- It's bizarre how the episodes "The First Investigation" and "Jake the Starchild" contain almost the exact same scene, but with a completely different script. I synced them up so you can watch them side by side.

probably one of the best portal-opening sequence I've ever seen in an animation. It's super cool. Until this episode I had hoped that jake would also developed that specific ability of opening portals throughout the show's run, but then it was explained in this show that he only inherited Warren's stretchy abilities, and not his portal powers.

@@jgamer2057 remember that the pups powers come from Jake AND Lady Rainicorn. Rainicorns have tons of powers including some kinds of portal creation. Kim Khil whan can teleport, though he doesn't make portals.
@@jgamer2057might have been sort of “unlocked” by the rainicorn dna, we know they’re magic, and based on some of the info we got about the Pup race in some concept art, seems all of them have some sort of unique magical power, in their natural state at least,.
It's kind of impressive that they didn't just reuse the whole segment and made a second, close to identical one instead.
Yeah, especially when the art-styles are basically identical too. Normally you'd only see a rehash if the art-style had changed enough to justify it.
A show making different scenes for different episodes....

@CarlosGonzalez-pe8qr It's the exact same sequence of events, so they could have just reused animation or lines for the second depiction. That they didn't shows a willingness to invest time and effort, as opposed to just cutting corners, which is commendable.

@@CarpeVerpa I don't think it would be wrong to do so if that were the case. If you for example had to type essentially the same thing twice, would you not also copy and paste, and alter as needed? I think it's a missed opportunity to do so
It has a slightly different art Style in Jake the star child, it's a bit more cartoony and Jake is more small and his eyes are more Big(?) But it's crazy how the shapeshifter just looks tired in tfi and in jtsc he looks like if he was about to die

I appreciate the effort but I do find it bizarre that they reanimated the scene and even used some different backgrounds, while using a slightly different script. Since both episodes were produced separately but around the same time frame I'm going to guess they both had access to the same rough animatic for the encounter, but had little in common production team-wise.
By the loks of it, it seems like they also use for the episodes to work better as standalone.
A lot small context points are presented in jake the starchild.
Context that will have been redundant and not flow great in the first investigation do to the whole episode prior already have provided it.
Also the one of the first investigation doesn’t try to build up what would happen in jake the starchild as much since it is not needed.
Edit: also the one of the first investigation refers a lot to what happened in the episode. Which that isn’t needed at all jake the starchild so to keep things clear for the episode they took away that part
@@alewalls991 Yeah I think you're right - for example, first thing I noticed was the "must be a leftover time ghost" line being in TFI, while it wasn't in JTSC just because... it wouldn't work without context of the former

Okay, here’s a theory/head cannon as to why the scenes are different. The scene’s are the perspectives of Finn and Jake with The First Investigation being how Finn perceived it with broken windows and the Alien being bigger to emphasize his concern and how he believes Jake could be in danger while Jake the Starchild is how Jake’s more chilled laid back personality saw it as less dangerous with the window simply being opened and the alien being smaller.

0:29 when Jake turns blue, the broken/open window is open/broken in the opposite videos, for some reason, then goes back to broken/open. Possibly just an animation error? Odd that it happened the opposite for both

Finn ans Jake have complete trust in each other, thats what i like about their characters as a pair. Like, yeah, at the beginning theirs a little distrust, but by the end theirs non, not even the slightest ounce of questioning.

I feel a bit disappointed because they nerfed warren, if he had stayed as a mysterious shapeshifting beast it would have been more interesting, the fact that they gave him a more human personality and a goofy ahh base form on his planet seems to me like wasted potential for a character with that lore.
The title StarChild has such deep dramatic meaning to it, it practically screams destiny
I like the effort they put in, they could have just reused the assets they already made but they went through the trouble of reanimating it.
