Thanks to the safety team of Chris Baer and Chris Wing, and Rose Wall for allowing her footage of the rescue to be used for educational purposes. I think this video also illustrates the importance of the rescuer using calm and clear language during a rescue. Often rescuers immediately begin yelling orders once an incident has occurred, often when such yelling has no benefit to the rescue at all. Props to the instructors and swimmer for keeping calm and being direct and composed throughout the entirety of the rescue.

Truth speaking!! Most people freeze when a situation is escalated with panicked behavior.

She absolutely is a great roller. That was about as high stress of situation as you could experience and in those situations, it's not uncommon to see regression in technique. One of the reasons we recommend playboating to practice under duress and disorientation!
But to answer the question about her merit, she 100% belonged in that venue and we were intentionally trying a more difficult move. Sometimes the outcome of experimentation is going to this, that's why we set safety!
