Once again the Green Race lived up to the hype. There were 140 racers. We had a state of the art timing system that kept time to the 1000th of a second (No more ties) The course record was broken by two people. There were many tales of victory and some tails of defeat but everyone stepped up to the plate and tried to post their time.
The paddling crew included a hand paddling tandem group and our first ever Father and Son team paddling their own boats and then again in a tandem. The weather was warm, the leaves were in full fall color mode, and a huge crowd climbed down that ridiculous trail yet again to witness "The Greatest Show in Sports".
To all the racers, though I laugh and joke, I never hope for anyone to get hurt and I will always wish for perfect lines for everyone. That said I have had my fair share of beat downs and carnage and I know it is pretty fun to watch. So drink your bootie beers and enjoy the ride. Thanks, Shane Benedict. - Sport

Dam that's the way to do extreme and have a TON of SAFETY i dont kayak at all and Id be tempted to try this with all the GREAT experienced people.

you are never too old to start, the only difference will be that you will paddle a grade lower runs
its not about what gnar you run, its about having fun, and as a beginner you have fun even on slightest wave, then you progress as much as you feel like it, some do it fast, some stay where they are
at the end, its all about having fun with the right people :)
So, what state or country is this in, jeez just the basics.

I don’t even know how these kayaks hold these people with balls this big!!! I kayak but I don’t not like this. I have a sit on top one. I think they s sport is awesome. I love watching others do this but I can’t
I'm guessing it's less of a race and more of a training session The safety crews are just spotters like in gymnastic training where you are expected to fail so you can learn what not to do. I guess if you limited this to the actual competent the race would take about 15 mins.
So out of 140 racers 95 required medical treatment, sound s like fun....
