ah time to start cliff jumping my fishing kayak.
One doesn’t get in a whitewater kayak, one wears a whitewater kayak.
Brother... he'll ya
Genius
I took a fishing kayak down some pretty quick rapids and it wasn't a fun time.
LMAO
Getting rid of that river should be a crime, the landscape there is incredible
truly
Ya, I'm confused, how did they see it without water?
drqazlop there probably wasn't enough rain
@@drqazlop there is a damn upstream that they release water from
Chile is in a very severe drought, has been for over a decade.
This guy is amazing. He should be celebrated way more here in the States. Such a great life to live.
Why? Cause he kayaks?
Kayak down a waterfall and wash up on some jagged rocks dont be a bitch
@@ssherrierable No. Because he kayaks at a level equaled by very very few paddlers in the entire world. Nobody on the planet wins more competitions that DJ, whether it's downriver races or freestyle. And he could probably hold his own with the best slalom paddlers as well. Dane is a world class athlete.
Who in the world thinks this is a good idea. Respect for how crazy this guy is!
Thats priceless.
Everyone with a boat a spray skirt and a paddle
@@brandonmiller3892 When I started whitewater kayaking I was told you need a minimum of 5 things to kayak safely and successfully: Kayak, Paddle, PFD, Helmet, and Spray Skirt. So every time I head off to meet at a put-in or takeout I always make sure I have the big 5 pieces of gear. But yea what you said, haha.
Why respect insanity?
@@Erin-Thor why respect mediocrity and a life of not doing what calls you .
This cat goes hard and with pure joy. I really think he is one of my favorite athletes right now. Go gettem Dane!
HE IS #1 IN THE WORLD UNIVERSE AND ALL 🇺🇸 USA
Nobody going to talk about how absolutely gorgeous that whole river is and how it's going to disappear? Alright then, bummer.
Where's it going?
@@sunnyztmoney they said in the video diverted into a pipe. Maybe a dam or reservoir? I think I would need to know Spanish or a Chilean to be able to say more about it.
@@Korzacks2nd cyka pipe ruining the waterfall :(
La is gay
sunnyztmoney most water la if I’m cali
134'!! Damn... I've used a parachute on lower jumps. Like a ven diagram of sports, he brought his drop up into the low heights of base jumping.
Insane! Much respect DJ, very impressive.
videos like these makes me always ask myself ''wha am I doing in life'
Being alive
I was going to say surviving but what markobe08 said
@@markobe08 yeah but are you really living?
not being stupid is what you are doing unless you like to bet your life on a roulette spin.
Well I was planning on attempting this drop however hearing that they will be rerouting the water I guess I’ll have to back out 😉
lol ... literally
🤣🤣
I was thinking that too
Me too. Too bad for me
Deep enough is good enough.
Or not!
That’s what she said.
Southern Chile is freaking amazing
southern chile and southern argentina are probably the most beautifull places in the world
yeah but this is like literally central Chile, I live in Linares, near Salto del Maule, tho it's undoubtedly beautiful, there are other places way more amazing, specially in Patagonia!
Talca is your launch city. This is Central Chile. Not Patagonia. Not even close.
@@nicomorales8806 thanks! I made it to Chile Chico and the marble caves, ever sense I’ve been obsessed worn the south. We went during peak apricot season, even freestyle rapped with some local kids. Drove from Atacama to Santiago too, the north is a lot different hahaha.
@@TenThumbsProductions Glad you made it! I was there two years ago, backpacking carretera austral from Puerto Montt to the marble caves. Chiloé is also a great place to relax. But Torres del Paine, It's like being on another planet, that place is totally recommended!
I was hanging on for dear life to my recliner! This young man did an amazing job!
Ever since you’ve done this stunt my passion for the sport has only grown not only are you the person I most look up to in the sport you also did this on my birthday so thx for that present !
"Let me guess. We're about to go over a huge waterfall..."
"Yep."
"Sharp rocks at the bottom?"
"Most likely."
"Bring it on."
😂😂😂 is that from the emporers new groove? Lol
@@BassPlayer9000 yeah, man, what a bloody throwback
I'm so happy that went through someone else's head ahaha
Some people.... are simply just bad ass! Dane is definitely one of them. Kudos Mate! That was simply incredibly beautiful to watch.
I know that zone very well and can tell how awesome this is... That place is also know as "Valle de los Cóndores", an amazing place to rock climbing.
The BEST part of your feats is how you describe them. Concise/genuine/and enthralling.
Wheel Chair Material.
Fr Lol
Well you could still kayak
@@sunnyztmoney I work at a seakayak renting place and we actually have a person in a wheelchair that comes down to paddle in her own boat, ya wouldn't be able to do this stuff though, even if you could get the same safety in rescues, you need those legs to keep you in control of the boat when in freefall
Lol
What the: Surprisingly I’ve never heard of a competent whitewater kayaker getting paralyzed doing this stuff. Numerous deaths however - almost always due to getting pinned underwater - not from the impact. The only thing that makes these drops possible is the highly aerated water at the bottom - it’s the perfect mixture of air and water. Pure water would be way too hard of an impact.
Wow, breathtakingly beautiful! Congrats on that amazing run!
Awesome video of my favorite kayaker.
Taking a stroke in the drop (7:02) says something for Dane. I can remember Eric having Dane in a kayak doing ferries at the Nantahala after a slalom race. He was maybe four, armpits just over the cockpit
This has changed my understanding of kayaking.....
facts
You rock bro... That was badass. Keep livin ur dream no matter how hard it gets, just keep goin..
The "pink kayak" rocks too..✌😆
Amazing Dane! History in the making! I was on the edge of my seat as you went over. Seeing all those rocks, and not knowing what's to come at the bottom; I suddenly had this well intended thought: Football Style Facemask. Great drop, awesome video. Sad to hear they will be cutting off the water supply.
"you gotta make sure you respect the drop" 3:20
This is an absolutely insane thing to do and is awesome but the fact that he understands the risks just makes him seem like such a more human and real person, someone just like us and what we could be if we tried hard enough. Props to you bro that's awesome!
This made my heart cry.
Just wow!!! The limits we push!😯🤯
ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!
You just have to really want it like Dane!
Fantastic 😁
A great watch. Thank you.
Excuse me, did he say *second* highest he’s done?
I think he said second largest done
10:21
“second tallest drop that’s been run in the kayak” could be his 2nd biggest or second biggest ever idk
Biggest is Palouse falls, been done by multiple people, first was Tyler Brandt. Not sure if Dane has done it though.
9:50 he's talking about being happy he measured after, so because I was HIS highest fall and knowing that might have thrown off his confidence at the time.
Man of steel. And Humble.
This was amazing. If this were a series, I'd watch it!!!
He has a CZcams channel, you should subscribe to it, all his videos are pretty epic
@@ITSjustWOOL Oh I'm subscribed, and to all the Senders. I just want outside TV to make a series, haha
the giant rock he grabs as he comes out of the water could have been the one that killed him.
Probably 20 feet away from base of falls he would have had to been trying to hit it
I don't think u get how waterfalls work lol, there's a massive hole at the base where the water has been pounding down for 100's of years.
@@imluvinyourmum It takes more than "100's" of years to wear down rock.
@@QuartzGolem it also takes a waterfall:)
@@QuartzGolem Depends on the water composition and the pressure per square inch. A short drop is going to put more pressure on the base, thus the dug-out will form quicker.
24hrs a day for 500 years is going to have an affect especially if it's mineral rich water.
Very underrated and thank you. This is now on my bucket list
Better make it the last one
Flako never
Flako literally been stuck on sea surrounded by jellyfish and have gone sky diving
Amazing to watch him standing at the top of the waterfall visualizing the jump before he even does it, seeing it with his minds eye...
WOW I AM SO HAPPY TO WATCH THIS VIDEO
YOU ARE AMAZING SUPER HERO
AND YOU DID IN MY COUNTRY CHILE
GOD BLESS YOU. SUPER COOL.
❤️🙏🏼
Awesomeness! Glad you made it., your very brave! Alway say a little prayer for safety!
Great effort from Dane. Also great effort to who ever flew that drone. One time shot only, nailed it!
Madness but still amazing!
This is NUTS....what a legend....great footages...
Aliens watch this guy eating popcorn. “Look, look at him go!”
I' Chilean and i didn't know about Salto del Maule, wow!
Oh my god...you did it ! so happy you are safe ! the rainbow ! awesome !
Amazing footage with the drone!
last big drop I remember is Tao at Banff, and I remember seeing Dane on the Ottawa in a custom boat, respect
I know tao personally🤘 he’s a family friend.
what a great video! I miss kayaking... my Perception Lucid is still in storage so perhaps....
You got some balls bro. That was beautiful and the 🌈 in there was awesome...Thanks
Actually, his father, Eric, says that Dane only has one ball. It's apparently a big one, though. Impressive preparation and paddling down to the lip.
AMAZING, BEAUTIFUL PLACE, CHILE
Subbed. You are the man
That was so epic!
Shout out to the drone pilot for that shot when he went over the edge at 7:42!
Getting a birds eye drone view of this drop makes it so hard to believe the world record waterfall drop in a kayak exceeds 200 ft. It's hard to imagine such a fall even being possible when run perfectly. Put I'll say this drop looked even scarier than Palouse Falls, which looks much deeper by comparison. Makes me wonder whether Dane did anything to gauge the actual depth at the base of the drop?

Wow your so Brave! Stay safe have fun
buenisimo!!
Dope! Balls of steel!
Damn. Insane. Good job bro.
This dude's got stones!
That was insane
this needs more views
Amazing, wonderful performance congratulations 👌👌👌
One of the most epic swims in kayaking history... Hope Dane chugged a beer out of his shoe that day
This guy has such great balls👍👍👍👍
Awesome 🔥 🔥 🔥
Wonderful performance congratulations 👍
Is that drone or RC plane footage at the start?....looks awesome I like the tilt and roll....sick! 👍😎
Fpv race drone
Great drone shot..
The FPV drone footage on this looks sick! Especialy the dive at 7:42. I'd love to know who was the pilot.
10:47 FPV Drone pilot
FLOW MOTION AERIALS, RAPHAEL BOUDREAULT-SIMARD
Do it again! He didn't stay in the boat, he's gotta do it again! and before March too.
You all think he has steel balls for going over that waterfall, but what _truly_ proved his legend was casually holding his phone over the edge of the cliff.
Wow what an amazing video, i felt so much nervisiouty like it was me dropping off that waterfall
He's got that Justin Geathje Vibe.
Nice one Dane!
Sorry if this is an ignorant question, but why does the feed cut off for the drop? Then back on when he's in the water? Is it possible for go-pro's to get overloaded or something?
Unreal ! Who the frigg would downvote this ?
Incredible
wow this is sick.. balls of steel
Bravo!
Rocks to follow!!
He is a freaking madlad 🤯🤯😱😱😱😱
Was the water cold, or just really clear? Had to have been midsummer in Chile in February.
I’d like to see you go Up it! That would really be something 👍🏼
well, this isn’t about being crazy but got skills and understand very well the move of the water under similar conditions. Was pretty beautiful
Dude. Four king awesome.
Good shit!!!! Man! I wanna travel!!!
Go for it man
Awesome story hooray dane
👏⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐excelente
Vous êtes extraordinaire
Crazy in head !!! That’s a lot of water pressure
Balls of steel.
Dope.
This is worthy of the go pro awards of the year.
Bad ass dude
What are you use drone and action camera type? I am from Indonesia. Thank you very much. You are amazing and cool!
I usually learn of these adventure-seekers through obituaries in the New York Times.
reasonable is not the word that pops in mind when looking at that cliff
Looks fun
What's the lid for?
Had a quick look through the comments and can’t find anything does anyone have a definitive answer as to whether this drop still exists?
Respekt....That was insane
This guy is a freak of nature. Sub to his channel. Awesome content.
Some kinda WILD and CRAZY guy. 🍃🌎🕊
