I've always loved this one, and wanted to try and recreate it (from scratch!). I have split all the parts into four groups: flutes (pan flute x2, the second one acts as an echo), percussion (bongo, congas and tambourine), guitars (three separate guitars + pipa) and strings (viola, violins and bass). The video is made to showcase the different groups!

This picture makes me imagine that while Link is playing the pipes, Zelda is doing everything else. In other words, she's beatboxing.
You're missing the most critical instrument, the train engine.
Jokes aside, what makes the overworld theme so wonderful is how the sound effects from the train synchronize with the song.

I think that's what the percussion is supposed to emulate. Listen to it imagining the bongos(I think those are bongos) as the train.
I really believe that the train sounds are what set the best covers apart from the rest. It doesn't quite sound right without them.
Still find it crazy that one of if not the best overworld themes comes from a lesser known zelda DS game
There's a small mistake in the info. This track wasn't composed by Koji Kondo. He only supervised the soundtrack of "Spirit Tracks".
The true composer was Manaka Takaoka. She debuted in Spirit Tracks, but then became the main composer of "Breath of the WIld" and "Tears of the Kingdom".

With respect, that’s also incorrect-Manaka Kataoka (Tominaga at the time) was indeed a big part of the compositional team, but only wrote a few of its tracks, like Chancellor Cole’s theme. Most of the tracks, including this one, were written by the lead composer, Toru Minegishi, who was also lead composer of Twilight Princess
This overworld theme has had me in a choke hold ever since I was a kid playing this game, and now I get to listen to it in a whole new way! The way the instruments all blend together so perfectly is nice, but sometimes it stops us from REALLY hearing all the little subtleties of each part.
I cant begin to express how much i love this, as both a Zelda fan and a music lover (those two feel synonymous)
To hear someone who has such keen ear help me better apprciate how fun and whimsical one of my favorite Zelda songs is.

Feel bad for anyone who skipped out Spirit Tracks just because it's a DS game.
This is incredible. I've always felt Spirit Tracks was underappreciated so it's awesome to see it getting some love.

I LOVE the overworld theme of Spirit Tracks and the chugging of the Spirit Train. Its my childhood

I always thought the train engine was the best part of this, though... Like a baseline that doesn't stop! Makes you feel that you're a part of the music, because you are!
