My favorite this that wasn't in the patch notes is pudges e. When they first changed it to have an active it would not block damage from things that had very fast ticks but super low damage, like ion shell, heart stopper or mystic flare. on release pudge would take damage from ion shell while his e was active (unless darkseer bough literally every spell amp item then the ticks would be big enough to be blocked). Pudge was very strong for a bit and they nerfed the strength gain from flesh heap. the same time they did this they removed the min damage blocked so it just turns off things like ion shell, heart stopper, and mystic flare. I'm sure a lot of people have figured that out by now because pudge is a super popular hero but there was never anything about min damage blocked in the patch notes.
21:30 > so true. XinQ is one of the most underrated pos4 player just cause he can't speak english. Everytime I study his games is just mind blowingly informative. Such a creative mind.
Nice podcast, really great. I feel like this discussion about using bugs and "wierd/broken interactions" have been ongoing since Chen/Pudge fountain hooks. Also when there is money involved, and there is alot of it in the DotA-scene, people are gonna do whatever it takes to get more of those sweet cash. It is the same situation wherever there is competetion, but in other sports they are penalized for it
Keep these coming Cap! Avery, Insania and Quinn are some of my favorite pros/ex pros so it's superb to consistently hear from y'all. Requesting a timado and aui guest spot :)
Super great hot take SVG. The investment required from top 2000 to top 100 is exponential. It’s very obvious in gameplay knowing match ups. Like the earthshaker huskar one with Malrene
On the bug note - the only reason Juggernaut is even pickable by pros right now is because he has a bugged talent - the 70% blade dance lifesteal talent gives lifesteal on every single hit Juggernaut does, not just blade dance procs. So yeah, while it looks terrible that he is clearly knowingly bug abusing, you could say the same thing about every team that's picked jug this tournament. I agree with Cap that it's probably fair make them forfeit that game had they won it, but at the same time kicking them out of the tournament would be way way too much for that issue. Now yes, you can definitely play SD without abusing the bug so it's not a 1/1 comparison, but Jug would NOT be getting picked at all without that bug being in the game.
XinQ definitely amazing, he's not only genius in the game but also a really good entertainer. I love how he can lift up his team mates spirit in the game . Balance IQ and EQ .
Ever since they said they are having big internal communication issues, you know GG is over. They benefited from a stale meta and no real competitive teams from other regions for a while and won a few tournaments, but nowadays teams are actually showing up in all regions and there are no free wins.
Can somebody clear this for me, I remember Valve at TI talked to every team that they should be informed of every bug or portential abuse that teams have discovered and then Valve would decide if they can use it in the game or not. Was that policy only for TI? can't they apply that to every tournoment?
It's kinda hard to respect Save- when he cheats even if it doesn't change the outcome of the game or have a large effect on the game overall, I think competitive integrity between teams goes a long way and we should encourage all teams to be as fair as possible.
so when a jew literally edits the files of the game its "competitive integrity", but when a russian just clicks buttons on his screen he doesnt deserve respect and should be banned from dota 🤡
@@SecureLemons Well the question is does doing something that affects the professional scenes competitive integrity count even if its not intentional. My answer would probably be yes honestly, I think valve needs to be responsible for the bugs that happen in their games even if they tell people not to abuse them. But by that standard even if what Save- did was unintentional it would still be breaking professional integrity. I think both instances are of people that don't care about competitive integrity but one of them makes it by accident and either can't fix it yet or is too lazy to. And the other is someone who is probably using it intentionally to give themselves an advantage in a tournament they are playing in. I don't have respect for either of these but I believe that intent goes a long way and while we won't know exactly what they are thinking we can look at probability and come to relatively likely conclusion. I think you raise an interesting point even if you phrase it like a fucking idiot with bias showing at every corner. Try to look at it with logic rather than political issues because they have no relevance here.
@@SecureLemons So that depends on whether we consider competitive integrity to be compromised even if it is not intentional. I believe that it is. Valve should be held responsible for the bugs in their game as well as fixing them in a reasonable time frame. If we go by that standard though Save- is also compromising competitive integrity even if he does it accidentally. I think the main difference is intent. Valve accidentally makes bugs that affect the games that they either can't fix or are too lazy to fix, but they still work towards competitive integrity with fixing bugs and telling teams which ones to use or not. Save- is giving himself an unfair competitive advantage in a major tournament he is playing in. And even though we can't know for sure what the intentions are behind these people we can look at probability and get a reasonable estimation of why they did it. I think you raise an interesting point despite doing so with the grace of a spanner, just keep your political bias out of arguments because they are not relevant.
Should LGD have been disqualified from TI8? The reason they picked Morphling to deal with Ana PL is because there was a bug where morph can ult PL and use doppel, then those doppel illusions have juxtapose. This granted morph access to an enemy ultimate which was clearly unintended. Ultimately I believe what betboom did was wrong, but why is the SD abuse not ok and the morph abuse has never been the subject of controversy? It's really hard to explain why or draw a hard and fast line, so a full DQ over that would be a bit extreme to me.
That's the situation where they would have gone to valve and valve obviously said it was ok like they explained in this stream bc that's how valve handles ti questionable interactions
@@Seeker265729 Yeah, having Valve there to decide what's a bug and what's just a consequence of programming is the best solution. Not sure how third party TOs should handle it tbh, I like ESL's solution

1 year in your prime, not 1 year where you're a professional player. When you get on top in Dota, you need to maximize it because it won't last forever
