    You are my hero sir! Your the only channel to explain how to use the vsynth step by step. I didnt get the manual cause it was a floor model so I gave up trying use it for Years until i came across your channel and now i can't stop playing. thanks again for your videos it has revived my passion for making music! I've been telling all my friends about your channel keep up the good work!

    Thank you so much Roger. Your V-Synth videos are the best out there. You really showcase the brilliance of this synth. Keep the videos coming!

      Thank you so much for your kind words.
      I'm indeed planning to upload more V-Videos. Switched to another camera to make better recordings.
      And yes...this unit is from another world.

    In my opinion, this is the simplest and most accessible explanation of how to work with such an amazing synthesizer as V-Synth, thank you!)

      Sorry for the extreme late reply on such a wonderful comment.
      The V-Synth is an amazing machine and I will make more tutorials.
      Thanks again!

    Fantastic video, Rogier! as we discussed before, the manual is almost always the solution to every problem (if only it was the same in life sometimes lol!). When you can't figure it out using the manual, a video like this; extensive and clear, is exactly what you need to make it work anyway. Bravo! Thanks for creating and sharing this video. I'm looking forward to building more patches with my own samples with in mind that I don't lose them in the future. Your videos are an asset to anyone that interested and working with synthesizers. Until the next video and again, thank you for the effort!

    You got awesome videos of programming the v-synth. I finally dusted off my v-synth xt, made use out of it for the first time in a long time as I was looking for tutorials in CZcams. I'm so happy I came across your amazing tutorials of the v-synth couldn't ask for anything more

    HI Roger thanks for the latest videos on the V-synth they are super helpful!!! I never would have thought the Varios patches could just load in to the V-synth--awesome!!! Your right the JayB set is really amazing, really generous for the guy to make it available😁

      @theMIDImaniac  Před 3 lety

      Hey Vincent! I'm a bit behind on all comments on my videos.
      Yeah, funny right, regarding the VariOS patches.
      And the JayB-set is gold to me. I learn a lot from his sounds.

    Your excellent videos have me craving a V-Synth again. Wouldn't it be nice if Roland reintroduced the V-Synth as a portable module that could run on batteries? Or as software?

    Super helpful Rogier, really glad to see this.
    I was just reading the manual about file structure, and thought I need to empty it to get maximum space, so I was glad to see it confirmed by you before I did something crazy.
    Can you get a gt please?! I’m having to translate and I’d love to see what you’d squeeze out of it.

      Great that it is helpful.
      Getting a GT? What shall I sell? JD-990 and JD-800? That GT is sooo expensive...🙈😅

    Love the v-synth content, have one coming my way shortly and have been watching to get a grasp on things and hit the ground running. Question - you load the v-synth empty with no patches for this video, would this erase the factory presets or whatever presets are saved to the v-synth's internal memory?

    • @theMIDImaniac
      @theMIDImaniac  Před rokem

      Thanks a lot and congrats on receiving this beautiful instrument.
      And don’t worry, the internal factory presets are always there when you need them.
      They are baked into the unit itself 😉🙌🏽

    How do you select a key to play a sampled sound on Roland V Synth V2

    These videos are all great! I thought I’d check in here as I’ve not had much luck anywhere else. I’m trying to update my v synth to the 2.0 software but receiving a screen saying “error - program data is illeagal” … using the os files from the official Roland site. Any ideas would be very welcome!!

      Hi,
      Thank you for your comment here.
      I saw your issue also of FB.
      Let’s see, you’ve issues with the 2.0
      Version. You’ve downloaded it from the Roland Website. You have downloaded the correct 2.0 version? I mean, not the GT software but the V-Synth 1 software, right?
      And what kind of computer do you use?
      Is your V-synth still working or is it bricked already? I mean, can you start it and play with it or is it giving errors already?
      Can you put it in USB-mode for updating?
      Thanks for sharing more info.

      @@theMIDImaniac Hi Roger, that is correct, it is still working, I can operate OK on the original OS, and I can enter USB mode to update. The V Synth is popping up as an external drive on my oldish macbook, but then receiving the error after I attempt to run the update after disconnecting the computer and pressing 8 as prompted. Thanks for the reply!

      Hi! I also didn't know the GT had a different structure.
      So, you're not able to load PRJ from the V2.0 synth?

    (Job interview: there's this gap in your CV. what did you do from 2016 to 2019? - oh, I was learning the file structure of the V-Synth!)

    When I got my OG V-Synth 2.0 years ago, I got a PCMCIA SD card reader and 32 GB (maybe only 16GB, but it doesn’t matter really) card, thinking I’d never run out of space…but unfortunately, I only had luck with very old, small capacity cards like 512mb-1.0 GB. From some poking around online it seems like CF might be a bit better. I’d really love to add my own samples to my V-Synth. Do you have recommendations for PCMCIA adapters and CF cards to work with the V-Synth in 2023?

    • @theMIDImaniac
      @theMIDImaniac  Před rokem +1

      Hey!
      At this very moment I'm preparing a video and I will show you which CF-Card I'm using.
      Will be uploaded this week :)

    Roger what the Heck are you doinng over there man ....... VSynth with No Sounds in it........ Wowww man you really are in the Twilight Zone right now ....... i had been trying to do this so i can put my own sounds in this but i got lost and didnt want to mess up anything ....... well 2 things can we hear some of the other sound packs that you downloaded ....... and how can we load just the sounds we want from those Sound packs or ......make up a Project with our favorite sounds from the sound packs and our own samples ....... also most dont know that you can hook up an external keboard or sequencer and use the vsynth as a sound module with various parts on different midi channels and using midi progam changes to change each sound on each part
    ...... man an empty vsynth and loading the sounds you want and using the vsynth as a sound module would be EXTREME if we could get all that to work ......

    • @theMIDImaniac
      @theMIDImaniac  Před 3 lety

      Sorry for the late reaction...
      I'm now discovering how V-Synth Librarian works to create indeed a project with favourite sounds.
      We're still on the top of the iceberg ;-)
