@@alexkera47 I made that comment about 5 months ago before I knew and understood the difference between closed-throttle compressor surge and open-throttle compressor surge. The simplified version is thus: Closed-throttle = not killing your turbo. Open-throttle = RIP your turbo. If you hear a brief amount of surge when you let off the gas, it's OK. If you hear surging when you're stepping on it, you've got a huge problem.

@@alexkera47 Also the Stu-stu-tu-tu sound is made when the metal compressor blades are spun back wards. Imagine a fan in your house, it only spins one direction, but when the valve is suddenly closed the air that is rushing out already have no where to go other than back where it came from, thus pushing the fan to spin the other direction causing the tu-tu-tu sound.
A proper turbo spool and blow off is a whining noise, then a psssshhhh.

Love how people think turbochargers make your car faster than a supercharger can. It's a matter of the rest of the build.... What motor are you running and how much work has been done to it? They can bring the exact same performance. It just depends which torque curve you prefer. That's the only difference
Swipez yes and no there is definitely a place for each as you said but turbos can make more torque and power than superchargers if you are comparing 2 that flow similar amounts of air. Even then it's hard to compare because there's no tangible gauge to really compare the 2 exactly. Too many variables. With that said turbos can make more power reliably because they are a more efficient pump, don't have nearly as much parasitic loss, and don't have a giant belt beating the hell out of the bearings.

And you forgot you can choose lot of turbo types...like Rally cars 300Hp/2Litre engine and 600-700Nm in low rpm ,with Supercharger you cant make same numbers..

With today's electronics it's gotten a lot safer. They have wheelie control built in. The bike's ECU won't let the front end come off of the ground.

It's all personal preference. both have pros and cons. for me I'll be with a supercharger because it's easier to install, more reliable and no lag.

I like to hear both sound, i like the "stututu" sound the turbo make and i like that supercharger engine sound mixed with some whining, ooooh that sounds pretty satisfying
The ultimate decider in a race is not the engine, it's the gearing. Your gearing must match your engine's power band.
If all your power is down low, then you need a closer ratio rear end like a 3.31 to 3.55.
If all your power is up top, then you need a wide ratio rear end, like a 4.10 or 4.30.
Your transmission also must have ratios that keep your engine in its power band.
A roots type supercharger is best for engines with their power down low.
Centrifugal superchargers and Turbochargers are best for high revving engines.
Depend on engine type/turbo type/supercharger/Total HP,1000Hp car with long/short gears is still very fast but stock 200Hp car with same gearbox have very different numbers..
That's not really an apples to apples comparison.
A a big block or a diesel engine that makes gobs of torque below 4k will fly off the line with close ratio gearing, but a high revving engine that makes it peak torque over 4k will bog out.
HP is an irrelevant number when judging performance. Its all about torque, and where you make it, and then selecting your gearing based on that criteria. Because two engines that make the same torque, but at vastly different rpms, will have the same whp if the gearing is done right.
And if all other factors are the same, IE same vehicle, same weight, just different engine, and properly matched transmissions, they will put down the same ET.

From a sound/musical standpoint, the pitch of a turbo relative to the engine it’s attached to is independent from the engine. But with a supercharger, it goes up and down with the engine, like a sort of mechanical car harmony.

Main difference is the tuning capabilities of the two different platforms... With a turbocharger, you have substantially more fine tuning ability with a variable wastegate PSI, whereas you have low boost and high boost pulleys. It's also easier to change the spring combination in a manual wastegate than to have to pull the belt off, change the pulley, then put a longer or shorter belt on.
P.S: I am biased towards turbochargers, as I have a turbo ls7 swapped Volvo wagon, tried a supercharger, but have since found better on the fly tuning capabilities from a turbo.
