It seems most of her reaction at least in the immediate time after her ordeal was simply shock and perhaps the meds she was put on. Then after perhaps she simply feels like she needs to keep that up and hasnt been allowed to properly process it all and work through the reality of it and what it means for her now. One thing to have a positive mindset and attitude, another to seem almost in denial and delusional.. it didnt sit well for me, and i can just see it coming bacl to bite her if not soon, later in life.. no one normal comes out of something like that, and acts like that.. she needs counselling asap.

I agree. It's a bit of a shame how many people who comment on here don't at the same positive attitude. Having a disability myself, what I say to people is it's not exactly as if they're entering the Olympics and taking advantage of their full physical health is it? Most people are sitting around in front of the TV and may as well not have any use of any limbs all! Having said that, I know plenty of people, including myself, with paralysis who live much richer and fuller lives than many able-bodied folk.

As much as part of me really admires her attitude I can’t help but think that her mind might still be in shock/defense mode like she said her body was. Going through the pain is the only healthy way to truly recover as time goes by.
And for what she has been through I think it’s just not possible to act like this and actually deal with the extreme trauma...I hope for her that she also felt differently off camera during her recovery

You don't hear the stories of amputees going into a world ending depression because depression brings the lack of motivation to live, much less tell that said story. (See victims of mass shootings, you don't really hear about their life afterwards and when you do it's from people at a level comfortable at sharing such personal info, and even then it is normally depressing as all hell. Heck even in this example a hand full of against the odds uplifting messages can surface) Things don't happen "for a reason" all the time. Shit just happens to happen sometimes. This honestly could have been anyone. This did not happen to her because she could take it.
This girl is not the standard. She is an amazing, strong role model who rises beyond what most would do in her situation. She is hope when most would be hopeless.

Hell, we are all this girl in a way. Life can be the shark. Just because you are given a hard trial does NOT mean you can get through it as gracefully as she is at least portraying. Falling in a depression can be an unfortunate side affect. She is an example to follow. A mindset we hope to achieve when we want to fall so badly.
I wish her and anyone in a tragic situation nothing but the best, but I just want to make it clear in a case like this, this is a strong girl who got attacked by chance. Weak people can get attacked by chance. We in response, look up to strong people for strength, hope, and validation while we stumble with solutions.
I just feel saying "that's why it didn't happen to you" almost takes away what this girl did. She survived. She walked away alive (well, after medical treatment). Because somehow the universe just knew it was going to be okay? I don't know. It almost feels like down grading this attack to something much smaller than what it truly was.
