HOW TO Remove a Boat Steering Wheel That's STUCK ON

We have a few methods to remove stubborn steering wheels from boat consoles. If you can see the half moon key that's inserted into the steering shaft, this method is a great option. Those keys tend to become corroded and stuck to the steering shaft and the steering wheel. Give this a try and be sure to comment below if it worked for you!

if you’re watching this and it doesn’t work, what ended up working for me was putting the nut back on so it’s on the shaft but not up against the wheel. then whack the shaft with a hammer. you’re supposed to use some leverage on the wheel too so it’s being pressured in the opposite direction but it came loose without that. the guy at the marina said it was to “shock” the corroded parts loose 🤷‍♂️

A pry bar works too, but have to be careful not to damage the bezel.
