Tenor Vlad Mirita singing 'Nessun Dorma' from Puccini's "Turandot'. Bucharest,Constitution Square, September 19th 2009. Sorry for the shaking image...my hands were trembling a little :P
A natural high A that is. At the end they seemed very impressed and congratulated me. But then I was shocked, when some of them said: "What a beautiful bass voice you have". Then I understood that I lost my time in vain and I eventually left home trying to figure out how could they reach such conclusions.
With time, when his voice will darken naturally even more and he will not easily sing lighter roles he will probably consider singing the whole Calaf. You remind me of one of the "professionals" that I was auditioning for a role in a Requiem. I had a flu those days, and my voice sounded obviously darker then it truly is. I sang something easier on the voice but I did sustain in full voice a natural high la to show off a lit bit. (I'm a liric tenor with baritonal colour).
You are terribly wrong. I am really sorry. He's an obvious lirico-spinto voice. I do agree that it is advisable and affordable to sing lighter roles when one's younger, which he actually does. He does not sing the whole Calaf role anywhere and he doesn't have the intention to do that. So singing from time to time one aria is not a problem. He sings this aria particular aria, because it is a popular aria nowadays, and he shows his true potential. But otherwise he sings even light pop music.
@arua2009 But still, if you are a vocal coach than I would definitely advise anyone NOT to study with you, believe me. "He should sing Una furtiva lagrima instead! ". Well, he sing what he wants, it's his voice. Furthermore, a leggero tenor could not sound like Vlad does not even at 60 years, if the forced themselves. Furthermore, if you force you voice and darken it artificially you are not able to sing higher notes. Just pay attention how clearly and easily delivered the notes are.
@Mr19841504 the crack was a worry...I think he could do just as well by taking less weight up into his upper voice. I would rate him higher than cross over, though, but perhaps right at this point he should keep away from Calaf!
You are wrong, unfortunately, referring to this interpretation of this aria, that Vlad could sing it very well the way we hear it here. I would have doubts about the complete role of Calaf, sung by this tenor in a complete opera production, but that's another discourse. Again saying, you are wrong!
O interpretare exemplara ,cu era de asteptat din partea lui VLAD MIRITA.FELICITARI!!!!
Absolutely magnificent voice, he sounds so much like the young Carreras ! And it's to your credit that you tremble in the presence of such beauty !
Thanks dear Liana-Sabina for this interesting opportunity

@arua2009 I do think you deserve more credit than those guys I told you about, because you do admit that he is a tenor.
