- In Ghana, car companies like Toyota, Hyundai and Mitsubishi could face stiff competition as an local brand joins the market. Kantanka is the country's first and only domestic vehicle manufacturer. But in a market dominated by foreign brands they seem to be making quite an impact. Eunice Agyare-Okyere reports.

I'm not from Ghana but I'm certainly happy for them , this is what us Africans need to do more of. Creating our own and producing our own. This is great to see
Made in china
I feel SO proud of Ghana and I'm not even Ghanaian! GO GHANA!!
I'm so proud of Ghana, such wonderful times to be an African. Love and Respect from SA🇿🇦
Wow... Props to Ghana, to founders, to workers... Setting a standard in Africa... A salute from Zimbabwe...
im proud of these men who try todo something and honestly ive liked the final products.
Kaan Erdem yes, it is a nice Chinese product assembled in Ghana
Kaan Erdem
Men have tried.
For hundreds of years.
And failed at every single attempt to develop countries within Africa.
For some reason they're "asked" to leave, forceably?
One would think that since Africa is the birthplace of all mankind.
The countries that make up the continent would be more advanced and developed?
WTH happened?

Please please please Ghanaians let's help build a better Ghana by using locally manufacturing machine's like the kantanka products pleaseee!

its manufactured in china, assembled in ghana
gino manshit no, everything in Ghana.
Ghana breaking boundaries!!! Congrats. In Kenya, they are manufacturing smartphones called 'SILK'. Come on Africa!!!
@ZionHillCalling But African products will have tough competition in Asia and Europe
@@blackflagsofpakistantheeas9109 They should compete in Africa and encourage Africans yo support each others
Black Flags of Pakistan the East no one in europe or america will even buy “african” assembled cars
@Moskat Kanze assembly plant for china made(Indian owned) substandard phones.
@@bryanzecchin9380 oh yes, they do. Many cars manufactured in South Africa, exported all over the world. Toyota, Nissan, Mercedes, BMW, etc, etc. Not sure where you live, you might just be driving a South African manufactured car.
No robotic arms used in the factory, meaning more jobs created!
@ZionHillCalling we shall see, technology should be deployed with caution. Banks across the globe laid off workers as a result of technology (automated systems).
And only 3 cars made 😂
@@mihadalzayat6957 this is relatively new start-up company, even if they make one car per day is all okay.
Hahahahahahaha! Let's hope no one puts you in charge of a modern economy!
Meaning more expenses and more expensive car.
Ghanians, please buy Ghanian made cars. I'm rooting for this company to be successful!
Am Ugandan, I cant Explain How Much I Love This.
Great work ghana....we want you to prosper in future....i hope all africa does well in future...
Hasan,

This is the best news I've heard in a long time. Hurray for Ghana!

As an American Christian I like to see this. Blessings to Ghana, Ghanaians are good people, very friendly and down to earth. I hope it all goes well and I hope to buy one some day (piece of automotive history).
Congratulations Ghanaians, those cars look really great. Love from India xx
Very very very proud... I live in South West Africa even though I feel represented... God bless you Ghana
Power to Ghana!!! Love from Singapore
I am from Ethiopia go Ghana proud of you
Am from the US and honestly id give one a try. They look pretty solid! I'd prefer that red sedan over the pick up truck but still very nice looking 👍
This are some of the things the government should support so the will be jobs for the youth.
Proud of Ghana from a somali brother 🇬🇭❤️
🇬🇭❤️🇸🇴
the only car I'll ever export I'm African American and I'm so happy for my people. Keep rising ✊✊✊💯😇💖💗
dhare07 if you ever somehow manage to get them into the U.S. let me know haha

This is the way to go lets change Africa's narrative well done Ghana well done Kantanka
Proud of my brothers in Ghana. Much love from south Africa 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
Sadly, I only saw ONE in Ghana for the almost two weeks I was there this past spring. On my next visit I hope to see tons of them!❤️
I’m 100% sure this brand is not worse than any GM product , bravo Ghana
Darth Daddy no wonder GM stands for “Great Mistake”😄
Ghanian Motors should make them a “reasonable offer”
I'm proud that Ghana is making headways in Africa..... One love
Chinese CKD assembled car ... like Innoson in Nigeria.
@Chris P Bacon PAN and Volkswagen Nigeria did that since the 70s ... how did that work out?
Kiira was made in uganda 🇺🇬
ajay.f : Yes, they assemble Chinese CKDs
Mashallah... well done Ghana. Inshallah this will be successful.
🇰🇪lots of love from Kenya.Made in Africa brands,I hope i will have my Kantaka someday✊🏿🇰🇪
Good job Ghana. Whether manual or robotic assembly, testing is integral part of manufacturing, every part assembled should immediately be tested for established gold standard precisions (six sigma) and then repeat the test at module level and complete vehicle (system test), not sure if they are doing it but the video doesn't show it
The rest of the world: self driving cars
Meanwhile: Africa's first car
Which is just a Chinese ckd-kit.
There has been North African cars before such as Laraki which is moroccan, I don’t know about the rest of Africa tho
Fantastic stuff very pleasing to see this happening hope it all goes so well for you ,just dont let the big boys in the industry try and hassle you ! cheers and good luck to you all !!
yessssss!!! about time. Africa make your own cars and keep the money in the continent. I'm excited!! No more European and Asian cars. Starting somewhere.
well this is made in china so..............
gino manshit well then I guess we need to step up some more. Total independence.
gino manshit it is made in Ghana,y say what you dont know
Nah. Ghanaians should build more domestic brands but African's should still buy asian and European cars
Heavenly Beautifully Black I hope it goes that direction but I doubt the Africa as a whole will begin replacing foreign car brands.
I'm a proud Ghanaian... Who is still watching in 2019... Ghana 🇬🇭 🇬🇭 to the world
AF's Aviation the STAR ⭐️ is for the 5star continent
Those cars realy look nice and modern! Greetings from Montenegro ( Europe).
Planning to move back to Africa soon , I will buy Kantanka
The car styling looks good
Im african american and this makes me so proud
Fantastic 👏👏👏 this is what Ghana needs not to mention all of Africa.
Way to go Ghana! Much respect from Turkey!
Best of luck . you should lead the way in this sector..
Im so proud of you brothers ✊✊✊
The red car's design is much better than designs of some of our indian brand cars. Awesome!

Africa will rise! and dominate! Proud of Ghana.
501 years probably
Abe Rum dominate? e
😂
China will buy whole africa in 2 years 😂😂😂
Dominante what? Rofl
Haha that's never going to happen :)
Only in your dreams lol..
Nice, I will buy one.
Love from Botswana ❤
proud
I'm expecting the government of our motherland Ghana to stop buying vehicle from outside and buy in the locally manufacturing vehicles of the kantanka motors.
The government should atleast provide a "stipend" of sorts for the home grown company to spur its growth but $14k-$20k is steep for a new car. They need to target the cheap cheap market like $10k but what do I know about making new cars?
Fabo Lous They look like Ford cars
Fabo Lous: this should be in the rest of Africa too.
Use your vote. Ask your MP if he's going to address this on the floor and will pressure gov to buy the local autos!
@@MichaelSmith-um2uv That is probably the biggest issue with his business model, very few of us Ghanaians can afford luxury cars, we mostly prefer commercial vehicles like the tricycle variants, mini vans and motor cycles. If he makes those, we will all jump on board.
Perfect job. I loved it so much Ghana
Yes this what I am talking about. Love you brothers and sisters.
Very proud to see!!
This is amazing. Subbed
This made my spirit so happy
Wow Amazing, it'd good for Ghana and Africa
I'm American and I'm very proud of Ghana
Great to see a decent african car. Ghana is doing great!
I am from Somalia this what we want no longer wait import
very amazing, let all support Apostle so that every one can afford to get one
Even I'm not from Ghana I'm so happy to see how Africans countries started to create cars too I hope the whole technology will be in whole Africa so happy
That's excellent. Hope it grows very much and goes international. Here in India automobile industry is strong because of the support from the locals. This is the type of mindset Africans need.
Proud of Ghana!!
African should buy African products proud of you Viva Ghana 🇬🇭
From Nigeria very very happy for Ghana
Good for them, Africa needs businesses like this to get on its feet
props Ghana 🇬🇭👌👌👏👏👏✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾🔥🔥☝️☝️☝️☝️❤️❤️❤️💛💛💛💚💚💚🖤🖤🖤
GOOD JOB GHANA🌍
Wow! That's first of all a brilliant initiative and trust me, this company will grow. It's just a matter of time. Thumbs up Mr Kantanka. Ghanaians will really be proud of you..
Africa is arising finally.....Thank you Ghana
Rebadged Chinese Foday Lion, Foday Explorer 6, Brilliance Jinbei
Deon Van der Westhuizen Most people dont know this fact....
NO WONDER THERE IS WEST ATTACHED TO UR NAME...........WHITE MAMMAL
CKD stands for Completely Knocked Down. The term has its origin in the automotive industry and refers to a form of production of vehicles. The car manufacturer exports a not-assembled vehicle in the form of individual parts that is assembled into a finished vehicle in the respective country of import and sold there. Because I am a mammal, I understand the economics of CKD. So I enlightened you. I was not emotional about it like my fellow Africans. Here in South Africa we have been using CKD's for over eighty years. We even export CKD's. Nothing to be ashamed off. Nothing to get aggressive about. Nothing to shout about. The Foday is already a cheap knock off of Mitsubishi vehicles. Or don't you know?
Deon Van der Westhuizen we are white, what do we know, after all we are the racist bigoted etc etc ones.
Mark Twain said: “Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.” Never try to teach a pig so sing, you are wasting your time, and you are annoying the pig. Maybe it is time for the West to recognize all the African inventions and pay compensation to Africa for all these inventions. I am starting a list right now. Don't wait up.
Good job and I wish them success...
Wow thanks for the education! Great for you Ghana and the Katana brand.
It's good to see local business rising up. All the best and best wishes from India 👍
Nice video
I absolutely love it ,
Respects man... Nice initiative.. wish you all success
I love Ghana from Guinéea
It’s a about time the Africans did something for their own
Great !

Ebenezer Appiah amen and amen
Hey! Designs of the vehicles are spot on! I like it! Congrats guys!
Great job, good to know this !
Amazing! We are Wakandans let's show the world we can do it too.
Gerard O'Brian again, who cares lol.
We aren't Wakandans.
Good luck mr kantanka hope it goes well
Wow....so proud of you guys!
This is really cool. I'd like to check out one of these cars.
The company doesn't seem to have facilities to manufacture such advanced cars. Possibly they are assembling CKD kits from china.
Aviation News and Analysis No duh!! Many countries start out doing CKD. It is a start. When the company gets the supply chain and management and technical expertise then they can manufacture more parts locally.
Aviation News and Analysis obviously, because i have seen the double cab model is assembled in indonesia, and probably india, and others then rebadged as local manufacturer, in Indonesia its used as political "weapon" as well
Agree....looks like a proxy corporation
Aviation News and Analysis that's actually what it is. Chinese CKD'S. but don't forget, Tesla got their start building a sports car on a Lotus Chassis, and look at them now
That's Tesla and this is Ghana . Open your eyes
Go for it Ghana prove to the west that you don't need them any more
Well done Ghana ! You are capable of much more . Keep improving and innovating.
Proud of you ghana!
well done. respect 👍
This 100 % Chinese technology, the Ghanean , they just assembled with Chineses materials.
Samuel Tadesse it’s 100 % Europe’s tech, China paid a fortune to the BMW i3 tech guys, to fly to China and make their electric ⚡️ cars. Europeans are simply the best
Black American here, so proud of what you all are doing on the Continent. I hope this vehicle thrives
You realize they just assemble them in Ghana. These cars are produced in China and have been driving on Chinese roads under different brand names for years.
@@OberkommandoEnvy will kill yah 😂
@@emmanuelokine7430 envying what? That they are buying whole Chinese cars, assembling some parts in Ghana, and then scamming people by making them think that these cars were produced in Ghana?
@@Oberkommando what proof do u have ??
@@emmanuelokine7430 CZcams does not allow links, so just Google “Jalopnik The Living Apostle Who Sold The Media On The Myth Of ‘Ghana’s First Car'”
It’s literally just a container full of pre manufactured parts that this guy bought of Alibaba, and then he only makes some final assembly, slaps on a new badge and then tries to scam people by making it seem as if he produced the car.
Also I’m shocked by your lack of critical thinking. Like where in the video do they show any plastic injection molding machines? Where do they show heavy steel presses needed to form the car parts? Where do they show robots needed to hoist heavy parts into place?
There is literally not a single piece of heavy machinery anywhere in this “factory”. It is literally just a simple frugal assembly plant. So how exactly did you even think in the first place that he was manufacturing anything there, instead of just making the final assembly of pre produced Alibaba cars.
We have to support and bye our home product God bless kantanka group, GOD BLESS Ghana
Bravo KANTANKA....can I order one??
Excellent! Good man! Train your people, your best investment!
James Kelman so true
Proud of you Ghana! Big love from Ethiopia.
Good for Ghana.
