The circumstances surrounding Rohith Vemula's suicide in 2016 have come under scrutiny again after the Telangana police filed a closure report last week claiming that he was not a Dalit and that his suicide had nothing to do with the university. The closure report by the Telangana police, as well as statements made by Home Minister Amit Shah, have faced criticism for denying Rohith's Dalit identity. This has led to accusations that the authorities are attempting to suppress or manipulate the narrative surrounding Rohith's death.The report's contents have been contested, with allegations of false and unsubstantiated claims, and a failure to adequately address the factors that contributed to Rohith's suicide.

I still remember that school boy case who drank from teacher's pot and was thrashed by him to death.
That teacher apologized and was ready to pay for the boy's treatment.
But once the boy died, entire upper caste media houses started diverting the case and made up the story that the boy died because a classmate slapped him.

what a sad state of the system!
Committee and investigative reports submitted 5 to 10 years after the incident does not serve any purpose. By time these reports are submitted, views and the ground situation would have shifted and the truth would get obscured in the process. People would have forgotten this incident as well and life goes on till such incident happens again. Investigation or committee proceedings have to happen on camera so the process inculcates confidence and credibility in the public at large. Once a matter is referred to a committee or commission with broad terms of reference and with a long time line, the purpose is lost in my view. These extended time lines without any interim reports or news conferences on the matter under consideration will give rise to conspiracy theories and other incredulous claims that vitiate the atmosphere further.

I still remember 8yrs ago, so much fuss was created around Rohit Vemula for no reason. NOW, reality is that, there was nothing behind that cooked up caste division.
Isn't his father a OBC? How did he get an SC certificate? All truth should be revealed and fraudsters should be punished severely.
His father is a OBC obviously he will get the OBC status but through illegal ways he secured SC certificate.
