why did dubov resign? he could continue the game and as far as a4 pawn is concerned he would be able to stop it on time. I request anyone to please clear my ambiguity. it'll be really helpful
That was such a cool game, such a perfect positioning from Dubov, Nakamura claimed for the end game and then Dubov plan was so precise it allowed for a premature forcing of a draw, great game
I am not sure about that. It's a good question. But I can point out some of my thoughts: - Bishop pair in an open endgame would be great - Naka has a passer, probably hard to stop him from advancing with those bishops. - The knight is indeed strong in an outpost, but c5 is sort of week (if you play d6 you'll have to spend some more time getting your dark bishop and your strange rook on g6 to decent squares) - Bh5 might be coming with tempo But I am not sure about that decision as well.
Clearly a brilliant prepared line by Dubov! 17... Qxe4?! is an automatic move but in fact black has 17... g6! and white's queen is very badly placed. 18. Qg4 h5 and now white probably has to give the queen with 19. Qf3 Nxf3+ 20. Bxf3 which is lost though in a blitz game white has some swindling chances
So many biased comments about how good or calm Dubov's play is. Dont forget that Nakamura is one of the strongest speed chess player, and he's the runner-up twice in speed chess championship held in 16 and 17. The draw is composed by both, not by Dubov himself alone.

Dubov is terrifyingly calm 🙃
From first to last move
that calm demeanor and extensive knowledge of chess is why i think Carlsen values him on his prep team
Both watching themselves in the eyes exactly same time the end both knowing immediately it’s a draw

@@camran19 well no its a draw by perpetual check. Qg4 check, qe4 check. No hanging involved here

Interesting line and certainly a nice finish, but the best thing about it is really how Dubov sits there and makes his moves.

What about Rc6 instead of Rxg2+ which holds the pressure on the c line..
This guy will be a big one
I think dubov have a great gameplay

black game plan was very intersting, I don't know why he wasted alot of time for clear moves and he really deserve to win this game

Then black plays Nxe2+ followed by Qxe4 going up a piece.

yeah right lmfao dubov forced the draw on the annoying patzer you fool :)
They played to a position where Dubov could simply force a draw, what's your point though?
Or just a Dubov fanboy passing by then?
