Our First Ever Safari in Nakuru Kenya Surprised Us

- Nakuru County is definitely not the most popular destination in terms of safaris. But after experiencing our first proper safari there, we can now say that Nakuru is hidden gem.
We stayed at Mbweha Camp inside the Soysambu private conservancy. This small camp offers cottage style accommodation, has a pool, delicious food and a long list of activities that you do during your stay from horseback safaris to hiking the sleeping warrior mountain and water safaris.
To book your stay at the Mbweha Camp or any other safaris in Kenya, make sure to contact our friends at Ongeri Expeditions. Let them know, we sent you and they will go above and beyond to make your adventure possible. www.ongeriexpeditions.com/
It is no secret that we prefer private conservancies over national park making this safari weekend even better. Conservancies normally have less people, creating a more exclusive experience and they have a different set of rules letting people do night game drives which we also did.

I was born in Nakuru. In the 1960s, Lake Nakuru was pristine and we used to walk all the way from the Town center to the Lake. We encountered Hippos, Coccs

So sweet right! :)
Beautiful vlog Nakuru so beautiful City my favourite deva mani 😊
Thanks a lot 😊
It's good to see you in Nakuru County. Perhaps you can visit Nakuru City itself. There are good hotels in town like "The Alps" in the town's Milimani area as well as Sarova Woodlands (which is well decorated during Christmas season along with West Side Mall in the city's CBD area). The Sarova Lodge in Lake Nakuru National Park is also a cool place.
Hey, thank you for the suggestion I will for sure look that hotel up! :)
Amazing! Thank you

Hi Dave and Tracy great filming. I am thinking of coming next year to Kenya and will take your advice an look at Ongeri expaditions . But just wondering is there another country we could fly to from England to make it a bit of a cheaper flight but also maybe have a stop off on way to Kenya. If not where is best to fly into. Thanks Mandy
That is so good to hear! Sadly flights to Kenya are expensive... Might be cheaper to flight to Addis in Ethiopia than Kenya but I am not sure.
What was the temperature when you guys were in the pool?
The outside temperature? Like 28 maybe...
16:15 do we have pygmy kangaroos in Kenya? What animal was that? It's so cute, reminds me of Pokemon. Nakuru is def underrated, I think a lot of us don't usually go there coz the traffic going there is usually a headache. Love the vlog ❤❤
I believe they are Hyraxes. Common in Nakuru and Gilgil areas
This was an East African Spring Hare.
If you're in Nakuru come to Kiamunyi mercy Njeri
We are in Uganda right now :)
Kuna nini Kiamunyi ya kuonwa?
So,how do you access Mbweha camp coming in from the Nairobi direction?Anyone knows?
We just drove there, super easy you can literally put it in Google Map.
Hi, is this video from your recent trip in 2024 after the floods, or is it from an earlier trip that you uploaded recently?
This was a week before the floods.
What's that marsupial/kangaroo-like creature at 16:14? I didn't know those exist in Africa, let alone Kenya! Somebody please tell us what that is 😮
That was an East African springhare.
Go to lake Bogoria (61km away) for them flamingos experience.
Next time maybe :)
When you were at the Elephant Bedroom Camp, were you charged for the bush breakfast? Did you have sundowners and mid morning breaks every day? We thought a bush breakfast would be included so we told our driver we wanted one. For 50.00 a person, we got to stop, sit in the jeep, and had a box with a sandwich, an apple, a juice box and some coffee. We only got one sundowner, standing next to the jeep with a bag of chips on the fender and a plastic glass of wine. We want to know if this was typical? Thank you guys, love your content.
Many camp do charge for a proper bush breakfast and by that I mean a full setup with chairs and table and even live cooking most time. But being charge for a packed breakfast in the truck, I`ve personally never heard of that...
@@DaveMani We were very disappointed in the Elephant Bedroom Camp. They were more interested in upcharging than in giving a good experience. 50 a person for a box breakfast, 35 a person for going to the villages of the native people. We told our driver that we did not want to do this. When he picked us up from the airfield, he drove us to the camp on a route with no villages. On the way to the airstrip he drove us right through all of them. This felt like sabotage to us. Trying to make us feel guilty. Anyway, thanks for answering. I thought that "bush breakfast" was not the norm. It was a rip off.
