While living in Asia I traveled two hours by bus every Sunday morning on my way to the nearest McDonald's for their breakfast. Their breakfast meal was a feast and their coffee a real treat. No offence but Starbucks coffee was streets behind a McD's cuppa!
Went to McDonald’s yesterday. I haven’t been there in a long time. I had a coupon for a free soda and med fry with any large sandwich. What surprised me was the prices. All the meals were over $10. No prices were shown for individual sandwiches. They must be ashamed of prices. My 1/4 pounder with cheese was close to $7. Really, if I’m going to spend over 10 bucks it won’t be at a McDonald’s. That burger was not worth the money. There were more workers there than customers. Not posting prices was ridiculous and the workers barely spoke English. I won’t be back unless I’m on a road trip and nothing else is available.
I wouldn't expect to be able to feed a family of 2 or 3 or 4 on burger flipping wages. It's ludicrous for people to expect this. There's a reason that these jobs historically went to kids and college students. If you're flipping burgers and bemoaning your inability to pay your rent....you should probably be spending your time on regretting not studying enough in high school.
if everyone went to college, the exact same of amount of people would be working at mcdonalds. the only difference would be college degrees would be worthless mcdonalds make more money from the people that work there than what they pay them, so why not pay them more? why should the money go to the people who need it least?
They use those people as slaves, or indentured servants if you will. Then you have the common man putting them down because they didn't use the opportunity to get a degree, as if everyone is suited for college or manual labor. They don't even have to do it themselves, these corporations, they have idiots like this who attack people working on min wage and consider them beneath them.
You're forgetting that in today's economy, going to college, even in a "profitable" field like law or computer science, doesn't guarantee you a job when you graduate. And college graduates have to pay off those loans somehow.
@Nicolas Martin I support the idea of the minimum wage and raising the current one over a period of time, but people forget that different areas of the country have different costs of living. $15 gets you a lot farther in Mississippi than the Bay Area. As you were getting at, people care more about their emotions than the actual economics of it.
I remember my first McDonalds burger about 1960. Still love them better than any of them. If he gave all $15 million to employees each would get about $71. They don’t understand that.

I afterwards go to my other job and work as a housekeeper at a local hospital at night Monday through Friday. Enjoy both of my jobs. You get what you put in. Enjoy what you do no matter what!
Mcdonalds food hasn't tasted good since the 90's: Apple pies were crazy good. The big Mac was a great burger. The Fries were universally considered the best. The food even used to smell good. Now? The food stinks literally and figuratively. Sometimes I'll have a craving for mcds and I'll hit the drive thru but when I get about 5 bites in, I go ahead and accept that it's disgusting and that my "craving" was more nostalgic-- wanting what I remembered mcds tasting like in the 90's. On another note, does anybody remembr when Burger Kings breakfast croissant sandwiches used to actually be on a REAL croissant (buttery and flakey)? Those were hella good. Only fast food burger I trust now is IN and OUT (Please stay private IN and OUT, so u dont start cutting corners/quality to thicken profits).

This make me feel good. My favorite job was McDonald's. It was always great to have the owner in the restaurant an right there cooking with me. It made me work harder an want to be a better employee. I learned so much there.

@Nizzle FoShizzle Yea im sure he earns that $10 million and the next board member deserves $7 millon and the next board memebr deserves $5 million! They earned it right?!?!
That's 100% a myth. Fast food restaurants already run as economically as possible meaning they hire the minimum number of people needed and have them work the minimum number of hours they need. A higher wage doesn't effect the staffing requirements of the restaurant and wouldn't result in firings or in hours cut, it would simply result in higher costs for the company and eat into their enormous profits.
The have innovated at all? They have only gotten worse over time. In the 1980s they had great food that actually tasted good. They have slowly worked the quality out of their food and even if they change now I doubt they can shake the image of being the lowest quality fast food you can get.
*"No its 100% TRIMMINGS"* Why not just beef!!! I have boycotted you all for 6 years now and my Son used to cry for chicken nuggets... now we enjoy a *ALL BEEF* Wendy's or Hardee's Burger or Tenders. Smh LIARS AND WORD PLAY!
This guy looks like a friendly guy. Unfortunately, that doesn't do anything for his employees living in minimal wage conditions, and below the poverty line..
Interesting, MCD does offer a competitive package besides wages they offer: tuition reimbursement, health insurance and opportunities for advancement with increased pay opportunities that overshadow min wage subject. Not bad huh?
+Julian Jackson the Ceo of large companies don't regulate or even get the chance to look at what the grunts make an hour. all of that is determined by McDonald's board of directors and their legislatures, only they set that bar for what the people make not Don Thomson. and if your not into making 9$ an hour then maybe you be more interested in making 8 cents a day in Indonesia or Thailand.

Not just sometime , but " EVERY TIME" there's trouble in a company " a black man or women we don't see or hear from until things are terribly wrong , gets dug up to take the blame for everything.I bet they gave him a promotion ,they were glad to get " of course " but at the time didn't tell them the bad news.. I BET MANY OTHERS knew BEFORE HE DID.. ( IT'S CALLED PASS THE BUCK)..
Anglo saxons and their hierarchial nature's...never seems to go
And that mcdiabetes
Hard work makes u humble and it pays off
Bring back the old seasonings. Those nuggets dont taste the same anymore. Honestly believe McDonalds lost they flavor. I'm keep rooting for this man. It nice see a African American man being the CEO.
#BLACKLOVE ✊🏿❤️😍 YASSSSS
He resigned 2015 after sales went down 4%
He got sacked after 5 months, he was NOT CEO he was no 4
They didn't asked why you purposefully designed an ice-cream machine which brokes every other day 😂😂😂😂
This make me feel good. My favorite job was McDonald's. It was always great to have the owner in the restaurant an right there cooking with me. It made me work harder an want to be a better employee. I learned so much there.
I do like all races but what I mean no black I mean by peoples character not by SKIN COLOR NO!!!! HOW WELL ROUNDED ARE YOU!!! THIS GUY I LIKE!!! HE HAS MANY CAPS!!!
He ran it into the ground and got thrown out, bottom line.
MCDONALDS KILLED MY DADS COUSIN IN 2001- HE WAS 44 A MANAGER TOO
A SMOKER, FRIED FOOD , GREASY BURGERS
IT KILLS PEOPLE
It wasn't his fault. The company was on a decline before him and he couldn't stop it. The company still isn't doing that great.
The number one McChallenge is finding a reliable ice cream machine.🙄
I wish the CEO could see in the real world how dirty McDonald's is when they don't know he's coming.
Grew up poor, made it big. Doesn't want to give back to the little guy. Greed at its finest.
U dumb
Stay poor my friend. Those who work smart, hard and believe make the money. Keep blaming others for your lack of money
@Nizzle FoShizzle Yea im sure he earns that $10 million and the next board member deserves $7 millon and the next board memebr deserves $5 million! They earned it right?!?!
thats HIS money what does he owe you? nothing.
No one gave him handouts. He worked his way to the top.
Ppl Don’t realize that a $15 an hour wage is likely to be the reason half of them get let go or get their hours cut.
hours will get cut for sure, same as in other retail
That's a myth.
Lies they cut hours cuz they not fast enough . Hard workers get the hours, trust
It's because of GREED
That's 100% a myth. Fast food restaurants already run as economically as possible meaning they hire the minimum number of people needed and have them work the minimum number of hours they need. A higher wage doesn't effect the staffing requirements of the restaurant and wouldn't result in firings or in hours cut, it would simply result in higher costs for the company and eat into their enormous profits.
Put real beef on the Big Mack and your problems will start to go away.
looks like a wholesome, hard working couple.
Mad respect McDonald’s continues to innovate and triumph.
The have innovated at all? They have only gotten worse over time. In the 1980s they had great food that actually tasted good. They have slowly worked the quality out of their food and even if they change now I doubt they can shake the image of being the lowest quality fast food you can get.
Mc challenges try filling the large fries paper containers up stop cheating all of us
I agree IF IT IS PHASED IN SLOWLY THAT IS WHY WE HAVE TO WORK HARD!!!!
Why doesn't McDonald's not offer a basic burger/cheeseburger? You know with any combination of lettuce, tomatoes, onions & pickles...
The headquarters is so old. They need to renovate that building wtf
BOO_HOO!
Underground Jukebox he said “100% beef trimmings”
Wendys has always been my favorite meat.
Dee Loc more like this ceos phat Italian sausage has always been your favorite meat
Where's the pink slime? She responds: we don't put "that". Effectively admitting its existence and proving her awareness of it as well
It got too expensive,
save 20% on Wendy's deals
The Dr. Martin Luther King portrait above Don Thompson's right shoulder in the conference room...profound shot
I’d like to order a McMc please
Hey
Hands doun breakfast is best the very best.
All Macdonald food is premade and just get warmed before serving
Except for French fries and chicken nuggets
I now completely understand why McDonald’s is no longer an American hamburger change like the one I was used to when I was younger
Serving diabetes with a smile 😑
This guy looks like a friendly guy. Unfortunately, that doesn't do anything for his employees living in minimal wage conditions, and below the poverty line..
Interesting, MCD does offer a competitive package besides wages they offer: tuition reimbursement, health insurance and opportunities for advancement with increased pay opportunities that overshadow min wage subject. Not bad huh?
How does that overshadow getting paid below the poverty line?
+Julian Jackson the Ceo of large companies don't regulate or even get the chance to look at what the grunts make an hour. all of that is determined by McDonald's board of directors and their legislatures, only they set that bar for what the people make not Don Thomson. and if your not into making 9$ an hour then maybe you be more interested in making 8 cents a day in Indonesia or Thailand.
monstercichlidkeeper 🖓🖓🖓🖓🖓
They want $15 an hour but cant get the order right 90% of the time.
Not sure if this man is still the CEO of McDonalds but he seems like a down to earth individual who seems to cares.
Actually, he stepped down as CEO about six months after this aired.
@@billbilly8709 hmmm didn’t know that thanks for the info.
