Penny Mordaunt mocks Labour with 'Margaret Thatcher their new-found heroine' jibe

  • Labour has urged Penny Mordaunt to address the elephant in the room as the Commons Leader remains “tight-lipped” on rumours of a Tory leadership plot.
Shadow Commons leader Lucy Powell said: “Let’s address the elephant in the room, there’s an unusual level of interest in today’s business questions following the swirling rumours and speculation.
“Thousands of column inches written about the unfolding drama. Will she? Won’t she? When will it come to a head? Yet, she’s remained tight-lipped, ducking the questions.”
Ms Mordaunt replied: “I have briefly emerged from under the hairdryer, put down my Take a Break magazine, managed not only to find my way to the Chamber this morning but also remember on which side of it I am supposed to be sitting.
“To be present and correct for business questions, quite a feat if media reports are to be believed.”
She added: “It is confirmation that the plan is working when on Thursdays the opposition focuses not on these facts in the real world but on the Westminster rumour vortex.”

Nice to see Margaret Thatcher being quoted. If only we could have her back everything would be fine.
As for the Rwanda pricing by Labour it's ridiculous. The thing with the Rwanda idea is it has to be absolute. Arrive illegally you go straight to Rwanda with no process of appeal but I am afraid every one of the migrants will have leave to appeal which will last year's and cost millions and they will go nowhere.
It is a great plan if it's simple. Arrive on a boat then you 100% go to Rwanda no excuses. If it's kept that simple it would work. We would only ever send a few to Rwanda. Once it got around you were 100% going to Rwanda the boats would stop and there would be no cost.
However if you give any chance by appeal of anything that they could stay here free even for a day then they will risk it as they can always disappear like they do now when they lose an asylum claim. Oh and as for asylum claims that's 100% to Rwanda too and you fill in a form in Rwanda and then once it's processed you can apply for a visa to the UK if successful.
THERE MUST BE NO OPTION TO ARRIVE HERE AND BE FREE TO ROAM. Detention then Rwanda every time !
