- Rare Railroad Crossing On Norfolk Southern Railroad In Ohio. Loaded Continuous Welded Rail Train Gets A Radar Speed Check, Amtrak Train In West Virginia Knocks Down The Signal, CSX Mixed Freights Get Speed Checked & Fire Engine For Sale By The Railroad Crossing In Carlisle, Ohio. It is believed that there are 6 trains in this video.
We return to the railroad bypass road in Carlisle, Ohio on the Norfolk Southern mainline. I show how it works and filmed a long mixed freight passing the crossing and a local switching freight crossing it. The long NS train has an open boxcar door that Shoestring would love.
Next we go a short distance in Carlisle to Union road and film a couple of CSX trains flying past. I used the radar gizmo again due to popular demand.
Then we go to another railroad crossing in Carlisle to check the speed of a loaded CSX continuous welded rail train ( CWR ). Check out the awesome yellow fire truck that is for sale right next to the crossing. I was able to work the fire engine into the scene with the train passing it. That was pretty cool.
Finally, we take a trip to Thurmond, West Virginia to see Amtrak making a flag stop and then knocking down the signal as it left. That is just railroad jargon for having the green light drop to red as the train passes it. This is a clip that I never used and just wanted to use it instead of wasting it. The train was the Cardinal on its way west to Chicago.
Don't miss the outro with Lillia playing in a soccer tournament, the slide show and a little clip of the Live Action Pets. The soccer game was at Voice Of America park near Mason, Ohio. Lillia got a goal in that game and it finished with a tie. She also got a goal in the other game but her team lost that one 2 to 1. Chessie is also seen in her natural habitat at the JawTooth Compound somewhere in a remote area of southern Ohio.
Filmed Monday, May 6, 2024 in 1080p with 60fps. Soccer game was Saturday, May 11, 2024. Thanks for watching!
Please thumbs up and watch another JawTooth video to help my channel.

Yes, I've seen it before.
Because you Sir, have filmed on that location previously.
Have a great day Sir 👍
Thanks for watching!
Open box car door, i wonder if someone was in there riding the rails 🚂👍🏻
It was a tribute to Shoestring
Good question! I always look but they probably see me first
I bet the people in Hamilton would love one of those by passes! I would never use one unless I had to get to a hospital! Good video Son!
That bypass is an awesome idea for both worlds there. You get a good spot to watch and the ones who don't want to wait can go on their way Brian.
A fabulous mixed freight with a mid-train DPU that was long, 162 and fast! Quite a switch from the 2 car local before it. 😂 😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
Glad you enjoyed it
@JawTooth I love long trains! About 100 cars is the max around here.
Thanks! Awesome catch on that welded rail! The one you caught in Hamilton was the best, although you froze your fingers off😅. That night amtrak was really cool. Nice goal by Lilly 🎉🎉 thanks for the video Brian stay well roll on
Thanks for watching and thanks for your contribution to my gas fund! That will help a lot and I appreciate your support Mark! Thanks again!
A yellow fire truck. They’re all red where I am from and where I live now. Love the welded rail. I’ve only seen that from further away. Don’t think I have ever seen a passenger train on a Jaw Tooth video before. Lots of new cars on that CSX train, at least new ones your side LOL. Thanks JT. ❤
Another " blast from the past " video from jawtooth ! Remember your coverage of the construction ! Always in the right place for the best videos !
Regards
Thanks again!
Blast
Center beam flat cars with thick steel round bars! Awesome❤ DPU icu!
An other GREAT video. KEEP on filming Brian. You do nice work
Thanks 👍
That bypass is cool, but I'd never use it!😊 Unless it was a emergency! Thanks for sharing Jawtooth!👍
Thanks for watching
The "Dali" that hit the bridge in Delaware is probably why they''re so intermittent
That was a good mixed freight, JT. I've seen the bypass before, but this is the first time with a a train going over it. That's cool 😎 even though it's sort of short ad narrow. 😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
Talk about being dedicated. Waiting for four hours. You take the cake 🥮!!!
😁
More great trains. Thanks, Jaw Tooth.
Glad you like them!
Great trains JT. Those jumbo boxcars are a really rare find.
Most of those are used for auto parts. Could you imagine having one as a shed?
The trains you caught in Carlisle, Ohio on 6 May 2024 were interesting, Jaw Tooth! I seemed to me that all the traffic that was using the bypass at the Norfolk Southern crossing at Central Avenue appeared to be coming from north. The continuously welded rail train was unusual in that it had mixed freight after the CWR. Usually, a CWR train is only has CWR in the consist.
CSX long train with DPU & 42 mph CSX both great catchs & worth wait IMO! & love welded rail CSX train.
Thank you very much!
Lilly moves around pretty good. That's good for her. Hi Lilly, I've been watching your dad for about three years now... i', in Wyoming, Michigan... use to drive down in your dads area years ago.
Hello from Hillsdale
Oo
That Amtrak horn echoing reminds me of Brunswick, Maryland. Wonderful 60’s.
Happy Hump Day!! Stay safe my friends..
Thanks! You too!
That is a nice train bypass but you still have to wait your turn going through there since is only a one lane, another great video of awesome trains in Carlisle Ohio, I really enjoyed seeing trains and station there in Thurmond West Virginia which I saw both on your video and Shoestring's video when he was there, I always enjoy of course seeing the awesome live action pets with Chessie, Loki, Brandi and Norfy, that was a nice firetruck and a great slide show as well Thank You Jaw Tooth.🇺🇲🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🇺🇲
Thanks for watching and commenting Roger!
Love the echoes of the train horns in the mountains. Great job big buddy!
Thanks 👍
Just wondering if the bypass was the original road before they put the bigger highway in
Nice video JT thanks and greetings from Scotland 😊
Hey jaw tooth live action son. Awesome trains. Wish the bypass wasn't there. I definitely would always use crossing instead of bridge. Have a great railroad day 🚂🙋♀️
Always enjoy your videos JT my Father was born and raised in Chicago I'll he had a love of trains steam in his day
That was a very cool show 😎 Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
JawTooth
Great video
Stay safe
Cool on the Amtrak knocking the signal down. If you get to Strasburg this summer check out just west of Lancaster Pa. the Huge MOW. Tie changer. 1320 feet long this monster is. This belongs to Amtrak.
Another Great Jawtooth video!
Caught the signal dropping on Amtrack! Love the dusk/night shots.
Glad you enjoyed!
This was a super mixed freight JT, with about half of the train consisting of continuous rail. This was one of the trains of my dreams. I love these rails trains ❤! It was preceded by another long, fast mixed freight. Thank you very much!!! 😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤
Cool, thanks!
@@JawTooth Absolutely!
Thurmond looks so much like a Western ghost town that was plopped in the middle of the Appalachian Mountains.
Great video. Enjoy your day.
Thank you! You too!
🎶🎶🎶🎶🐔🐓🐔✨🫵🏼Great catch my friend
Thanks 👍
This was another spectacular video, JT!!! Great trains, narration and scenery. I can't say enough about good about your productions. I hope you expect to continue at least as long as I'm alive. The clip of Chessie was cool 😎. And was that a photo of you on the beach in your younger days? If so, you were a good looking young man. 😊😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤❤👍👍
You need the tanker to go with that pumper. Just think how fast you could water your lawn. Excellent video, liked it much! Thanks JT!
Thanks 👍
Great video...I really like the slide of 910 and the fire truck...
Thanks 👍
What can I say? It's Jaw Tooth, it's good! Thanks for sharing! 😀
Glad you like it!
Another great video Jawtooth keep making more videos because my dad will watch it forever and he’s a big fan of trains and also railroad crossings!!
Thanks! Will do!
Wow the Radar Device I really enjoy it when you check the speed. Awesome video JT👍👍👍👍
Thanks 👍
@@JawTooth Thank You👍
Another awesome video JT so you stay safe out there my friend and watch your back and we’ll see you on the next one
Thank you, I will
Good morning 🌅🌄
Good morning
Great video. Thanks for posting
Glad you enjoyed it
Amazing videos Jaw Tooth keep up the good work
Thanks! Will do!
Good morning Jaw Tooth.
Hello William!
Good morning enjoy the video👍👍
Good morning!
Love this location, JT!
Thanks for watching Mark!
It would be great if every crossing had a bypass crossing.
We have one in a nearby village, but though some drivers use it, it was installed primarily for emergency vehicles so they wouldnt be delayed by long trains
@tedsownchannel3554 personally that's how they should be used having a separate gate which opens when said vehicle is nearby
I love this video. Happy Wednesday.
Thank you! You too!
Jaw tooth could you do a little haunted History my kids are asking? Your History and videos are better than whats on T.V we are watching your videos as much as possible great 👍 Job buddy keep it up!!!
The by pass at Carlisle and the signal drop Amazing video
Thanks!
Nice vid, I be been over there before.
Thanks 👍
I like this video for bypassing the train tracks
Great video and a salute to shoestring awesome thanks Brian
Early here. Good video, Brian.
Morning!
Would you do a video about what radio equipment you use, and what frequencies you have programmed into it.
Keep up the good work. I enjoy your videos a lot.
Take care.
I was thinking JT, they need a bypass crossing just for emergency vehicles in La Grange to save them waiting when a train comes, but dont know how viable that would be. I love Carlisle for watching the trains you get them really booking through there. Excellent as always JT, ❤😊👍
I don't know how they could make one there. It would be expensive and they would have to take some land to do it. I'm wondering if they dispatch another department when they get stuck by the trains. Thanks for watching and have a great week!
@@JawTooth that's great thinking, there has to be another department nearby over the tracks. If they radio & ask for assistance they would surely get it JT. Have a great week too! 😊👍
@@Carolb66 Sometimes when I go to Lagrange I program in the county EMS and Fire frequency. Next time I go I will listen in and see if it happens
@@JawTooth that's a great idea JT. 😊👍
Awesome video jaw tooth, that opened boxcar was hobo shoestring saying hello.
Yes it was for sure
Wow! Excellent catching all the trains in Carlisle, Ohio, I like them, @JawTooth, Brian, thank you very much.
Glad you like them!
@@JawTooth Thanks, Brian.
The CSX train at 10:16 is a Wisconsin Central boxcar. That train had a few old cars on it.
I've been at that auto bypass in Carlisle.
Great video ❤ Stay safe
Ok thanks!
Cool video and I really like the location and the unique railroad crossing and the fact drivers can go under the bridge to avoid the crossing
Thank you very much!
Great catches cool capture and nice video
Thank you very much!
Another very fine video JT. I go sometimes 5 to 7 hours without a train. Past train day I had 13 trains in 24 hours.
Wow, that was a busy day!
Thank You Jaw Tooth!
cool videdo and great catches!
Thank you very much!
I like this crossing really cool wish there was one we're I am at live action wooooo
Merci beaucoup pour cette très belle vidéo ! 👍🙏
Nice fire truck sun bet you could fill a swiming pool pretty fast with that pumper truck 🚒🚒
You got that right!
It's a sad morning Jawtooth, a person in Sidney New York was just struck and killed by a NS train. I don't know the details yet.
That is really sad. I wonder how that happened.
The person intentionally put themselves there
Prayers
@@BeyondtheRailz A couple days ago a man did that in one of my favorite places to film in Walton, Kentucky. The train was blowing the horn and he ignored them and kept walking.
Shame. 😞
Thanks
Wow, thanks for your support Carol! I really appreciate it and that definitely helps pay the gas! Thanks and have a great week! You are a top supporter
Thanks JAW tooth are you going to do some haunted history videos that would be cool because l like the history of the towns you share thanks again great videos also l am surprised that these long trains dont have more engine s for control
Maryland Midland cement car, from my neck of the woods!
Awesome!
One never knows where Jaw Tooth may show up.
Good morning Steve!
6:18 switch broom.
Wow, that is awesome that you noticed that! I saw it when I was there. I should have pointed it out
There is a similar crossing and bridge near where I live with a single track, though the height restriction is 8ft.
I wonder how many vehicles have to back up in the by-pass because they meet someone coming the other way?
At the bypass crossing both crossing gates swing the same direction. You don't see that very often.
Awesome 👍
Thanks 🤗
@@JawTooth You're welcome Brian 🤝🙂
Good video Jawtooth
Nice Video
Thanks for the visit!
A friend of mine has restored a 40's and a 50's rust bucket firetrucks to pristine, shiny parade vehicles.
Awesome! Does he take it on parades?
@@JawTooth Yes. I've driven it a few times. Oh, by the way, he's 90 years old.
Another great video. I am curious if you know what the cylinder-shaped items are that were on the Center Beam cars on the first train.
I don't know what they are. Thanks for watching!
From my understanding, that bypass was supposed to be for emergency vehicles only.
Another great video. I am curious if you know what the cylinder looking items are that were on the center beam cars on the first train (at 3/50,)
I'm not exactly certain what they are perhaps to be machined into something else. Within the last 6 months go back and check the videos from Scott Taipale and he has two or three that will be on the NS in the Cleveland Industrial District. It is some really fine footage and this is maybe where they came from the last customer on that line
Good Evening 🌆🌌
21:02 Amtrak train station 🚉 on the way back to the FLORIDA.
👋
How many runners do you get at the crossing at the railroad bypass? Also, great video! Keep it up!
None. I don't think I have seen any there
I change my channel baby, and I'm back for another Jaw Tooth video
Yay, thanks for coming back to my channel!
Photo locations that are tried true and tested and like the autorack @2:39 said things can get Hektik (sic) @3:07 the Conrail auto parts boxcar with pretty nice upper paint @3:50 the three Center beams with the metal lading when 99% are wood loads. A nice compact local with the SD40-2. Then the CSX. Freight with the empty aluminum ingot flat cars make their frequent appearance. By @10:18 the GTW boxcars are about 1,000 numbers apart and notice the design has changed and also by putting the number and Reporting marks on the top there wasn't room so the CN emblem had to be repositioned. @10:30 the TTGX autorack appears to be new or reconditioned while the rack is TINX (upper left corner) The exterior panels seem to have random graffiti like it was salvaged off of another car or is this possibly an attempt to cut down on graffiti because traditionally they don't paint over someone else's work. We finished off with the eight hi-cube auto parts cars plus nice shiny rail from Steel Dynamics capped off by the lonely Amtrak train with the simple but Vivid lighting. Phew! Exhausted just watching the action
Is that bluish grey thing alongside the track a catwalk over the bypass or does it have a pipe on it. If it is a catwalk is it railroad property or public access? Great videos as usual.
They where moving pretty good pace 41 42 34 mph wow great video? Any haunted rail areas reading a book right now about haunted rails
Yes, Bobby Macky's in Kentucky is right next to the railroad tracks. I filmed there a few years ago and that place is haunted . There have been numerous television shows about it and Ozzy's son Jack was there a few years ago. They are going to tear it down
I know another haunted railroad bridge near Louisville, Ky
How does the cars merge back to the opposite lane, the cars headed toward you ,they would be on the wrong side ?
If you live around here, you learn you don't take the bypass for a short train coming from that way. If traffic is backed up, up top, you can get stuck there waiting for everyone else to get by before you can go.
What's a flag stop, JT? 😊😊
Who would buy a fire truck? It might as well go to a museum.
Maybe you could trade your pickup for that fire truck, JT. Does any other railfan on youtube drive one?
What do you do while you're waiting, JT? Do you bring a magazine, or a book to read? This is, if you don't mind me asking. 😊😊
Sometimes I bring a magazine but usually I look through the comments on my videos. Sometimes I walk around the area looking for better angles. If I don't pay close attention a train will show up when I'm not ready
@JawTooth Thanks JT! I just wondered. 😊
Hey, Jaw Tooth,
On those trains with continuous welded rail on cars, How do those rails traverse a corner?
Great video as always Brian 😊 one question this bypass is it unique in Ohio? Do you know of any others?
Not sure in Ohio but I had a viewer tell me about one out west. I forgot where it was but I looked it up on Google maps and it was very similar
Finally back for one of your videos. Always interesting to watch. I’ve under the weather with my ALS, but today I felt not that bad. Always interesting to watch and entertaining also. Hopefully I’ll be back more often. God bless you, your family & your channel. See you on the next! 🙂👍🇺🇸
