Neal this is terrific - i’ve been working on similar finger stuff since my days with Henry but this puts it together in a terrific, logical/sensible way.
I’ve got to make a correction considering a statement I make here when I’m demonstrating the eighth note, triplets isolated, (around two minutes and 27 seconds in)….I say: “the fingers will be closed on one and three and open on two and four”! Actually, if you start with the fingers open on one, the opposite will be true!… The fingers should be open on 1&3…. In other words The hand should be open on one and three subsequently, the fingers should be closed. The hand should be closed and assuming the left hand traditional grip on two and four (2&4)!
Hey Neal. One thing you said was 'relax'.When practising your system l find lm inadvertantly raising my shoulders . Do you have any advice for relaxation? Cheers, mate.
Scott Heritage: thank you Scott for your support! As for the raising of shoulders, I know of no specific remedy other than to just consciously pay attention to shoulders and give a “mental Command” to shoulders to stay down and they will; “mind ovematter” if you will. Try it, it works!!!
I’ll just chime in (2 years late): slow deliberate deep BREATH / breathing assists in relaxing tension anywhere in the body - take some yoga classes or just focus on breathing while playing till it becomes second nature to breathe rhythmically in relation to what you’re playing - like a horn player or vocalist.
The reason this video is listed Your pets and animals well the truth of the matter is and this is the secret here although you can’t see it it’s off camera but my pet “ English”Jack Russell Terrier was taking a piss on my leg while I’m talking No really it’s true LOL!
@@rhythmfield : This is true Greg very insightful of you although I don’t know if I’m a beast in the positive sense of the word if you know what I mean😉😆
