    Looks like an awesome trip. The Kermit-the-Frog style “yaaaaaaay”s whilst going around turns was a nice touch. 😎🤘

    It's cool to see y'all riding MTB! I too am a newbie and am finding it to be a wonderful discovery. For me, it's not about "shredding the gnar", more like trying to tread as lightly and as gracefully as possible. It really is like a dance. Plus, there's an element of skillbuilding, and it's nice to see that progression. And finally, it's a helluva workout!

    I like the subtle way you showcase the difference between gravel and mountain biking. I like to receive gravel bikes as road bikes with teeth. I wouldn't do any big down hills on them, but some nice laid back single track is always on the books.

    I passed through Whitefish in May of last year after starting a Glacier National Park on my ride home. One day I hope to ride over the Whitefish Divide. Oh, and check out the grav-grav between Lake KooCanUsa and Pipe Creek Valley (N of Libby). You won't need any more hints than that to figure it out.

    Hey! 46 is _the_ perfect width for my drop bars, wider I just don't feel as comfy.
    Have a pair of definitely-too-narrow-and-crashed 42's hanging around. That might do the trick.

    Bear bells are great for bear country. I have one that you can easily turn off or on. Early on my buddy and I would occasionally yell, hey bear. you get tired of that, so a bear bell is easy and not too expensive. Love the video!

    Hey Russ, I sort of think putting a bunch of touring bags on a MTB might hinder your mountain biking experience. I'd imagine it affects the steering and handling unfavorably. I understand you needed the bags for your fishing gear, but maybe you could try a few short rides with the MTB naked and make a video on your reaction or include your thoughts on it in your review (if you do one later). Some people might be interested in buying that MTB just for hitting the trails fast and not so much for loading it up with bags so your thoughts on how it rides naked could be very useful. You might enjoy the responsiveness of the MTB without any baggage on slopey trails. At the end of the day though, it's your ride so just ride how you like. Great video!

    • @michaljambor7772
      @michaljambor7772 Před 4 lety +1

      Some people just don't care about "fast" in mountainbiking, and thus "responsiveness" bears no relevance to their riding style.

    • @robinheil
      @robinheil Před 4 lety

      I agree that even if you're not trying to go fast, a large bag like that might hinder your experience. But it's all about the experience you're trying to have. If you wanna go out to a lake somewhere and go fishing, have a picnic, or make coffee, then having a large bag like that makes perfect sense. Personally, I try to keep things as light as possible so that I can focus on having fun! Unfortunately, this has led me to use a jersey. Those pockets are too damn useful! Otherwise, I have a very small frame bag from Outershell that works great. It's just big enough for spares, tools, an Otto lock, and a couple bars.
