- Welcome back to another DIY Pole Barn Update! In this video we seal the concrete. It was surprisingly easy and turned out amazing. It has a nice darker, wet finish look. In real time we have had it finished for 3 months now and this sealer is EXCELLENT! We have already spilled grease and water on it and it easily wipes right up! This is a great sealer! What type of sealer did you get?
Sealed concrete always looks great! Way better than epoxy. Imo a piece of you dosent die when it gets scratched or chipped. Which always happens when you use your space! Awsome work!
+Ethan Wanzek I agree. We love sealed concrete. It’s just a “real” look. It will definitely hearts our hearts when we get a big scratch in it, etc but that’s just normal. We already use the shop so we know it’s inevitable ha

The roller you linked to on Amazon is a 3/4 and I guess y’all used a 1/2. I’ll probably get 1/2 as well

How big is your barn ? And how much did you use on one coat ?, great video, thx, getting ready to seal my barn also… doing some homework before I buy sealer
Thanks for watchin. The barn is 40x60 and I believe one coat was 4 gallons.
+Scott E Hemstrom Hey! It’s 40x60. We put enough sealer on each coat to cover everything, but there was never a pool of it left behind. I hope that makes sense. Good luck with sealing your concrete!

Looking good 👍🏼 What were the dimensions of your poles? We’re they rough cut from the property?
6x6 posts and no we decided to buy treated post from money we made selling cedar boards.
Also is the cuts in the concrete just for looks or is there a functional reason
All concrete cracks. The cuts allow you to have it crack in a planned location.

How long after it was wet with water did you let it dry before you started to seal it?
We waited for a 25-30 day cure before we sealed it. Thanks for watching.
I’m thinking you may have meant when I was cleaning it. I think I just waited like a day. There was no visible signs of water when we sealed it.

Is this some kind of resin?
+ooltimu No. it’s a sealer. Urethane modified acrylic. Out of all my research this was the best for stain resistance but also allows the concrete to breathe.
