    Tied rebar on standoffs is so much better than hog wire. The wire even on stands offs tends to sag to the bottom under weight and walking on it. The concrete mix is way to dry. If you pour it wet so that it basically self levels, screed it, float it, trowel it, then cover it with plastic to dry slow it will be bullet proof.

      Yeah I wonder how much good it's going to do putting wire mesh on the bottom of the pour.

    Looks like the remesh stayed on the bottom…whoops…I hope that I am wrong though.

    That wire mesh that is being used instead of rebar never was raised during the pouring of the concrete. And even if you did raise it, it was then stepped on so much that it would be pushed back down,

    u gota pull the wire mesh up though. if I did that didn't pull it up in my vids the wire mesh police would be all over me!!! good job, always set the board after u know if u got enough mudd, so u don't have to plus back on another truck. that vapor barrier makes it go slower too

    • @GRUBB-MUDD
      @GRUBB-MUDD Před 2 lety +1

      just keep the truck square incase u r short

      @@DesertHavaGarden How do you keep the mesh up if you are walking on it as you are doing the level set? Getting ready to do mine.

      @DesertHavaGarden  Před 2 lety +1

      We just pull it up so the concrete/gravel settles below it.

    cheap screening is just going to sink to the bottom... concrete looks to dry.move quickly.....you got to put it on little standoffs or use real rebar much much stronger

    It appears you poured the concrete around the vertical post . Is that correct? If so did you treat the post first?

  • @JSMachine1
    @JSMachine1 Před rokem +1

    Why not pour the slab first? I can't understand this. Seems that all the pole barn or barndo builds are done this way

    • @DesertHavaGarden
      @DesertHavaGarden  Před rokem +4

      It is mostly a financial thing. If we could have afforded to have the whole slab poured first, we would have done it that way.

    • @troyholder1
      @troyholder1 Před 6 měsíci

      because you pour the pad around the posts, which actually helps hold the concrete together.

    • @mikeydee8398

      Maybe because they need the actual building before the floor.. I’m doing mine this way in sections until it’s done .. I have equipment and tools I need to store, I can worry about the floor later.
