I don't understand people coming on here to criticise Aretha, for if she's not all that, why show such an interest, unless they are just trying to wind people up. If you have nothing nice to say go and troll elsewhere. All her peers, politicians, and millions of people around the world are paying tributes to this outstanding singer who was rightly crowned "The Queen of Soul". Aretha suffered yet still pulled out all the stops in her performances up until the very end, and kept soldiering on with great bravery. I certainly respect Aretha Franklin, not just for her incredible voice but as a human being as well. My condolences to all her family for their sad loss. RIP Aretha.

I am telling my age, but I remember we weren't allowed to play the stereo in our home. That was for "company and functions." My favorite song at the time was Aretha's "I Say a Little Prayer." The radio would play it only twice a day. I would come in from playing and lay down on the floor next to the radio waiting on that song. Aretha's powerfully gifted voice and spirit set the tone for so many aspects of our lives. It got us through some difficult times. She is truly an irreplaceable icon and national treasure. She will be missed.

May God Comfort and support us all as we grieve the loss of our undisputed "Queen of Soul" Aretha. These titles that get attached to entertainer's sometimes are just an afterthought but in her case...she is truly "The Queen of Soul". Stevie's allusion to "Until You Come Back To Me" and how she poured her very essence into that song touches me even more now. It's always been my favorite and to hear him speak reverently of how she "took a song" is indeed validation. It's a Stevie tune where everything meshes together in unison and perfection and the bass line never stops. Another is "It's a Shame" by the Spinner's. Magnificent writing/arrangement skills Stevie and thank you Mrs. Franklin for not only that song....but all of your masterpieces of sound. You are truly one of a kind and have gifted us with a tremendous...tremendous legacy. Rest in Peace dear Ree Ree....

She brought such a great feeling to the music industry. They wont ever be able to replace the feelings they had for her. She was a true friend and shoulder to lean on. A part of the music industry has been jolted now and none of the singers left behind know what to do to make up for this huge void they now feel. When Stevie Wonder a true genius in his own way has difficulty even speaking of a true talent, you know its a huge loss.
