  • The family of the victim of alleged racism at Stellenbosch university says the perpetrator must be made an example of. A white student, Theuns du Toit, urinated on Babalo Ndwayana's study materials including a laptop. Du Toit has been suspended pending an investigation. And Ndwayana has laid criminal against him. But Ndwayana's father, Mkhuseli Kaduka, says it should go further. We're also joined by Asive Dlanjwa from the South African Union of students.

Issues of diversity and inclusivity trainings stopped during Mandela and Mbeki presidencies, even though during that time, white people refused to attend the workshops and training, they missed the opportunities to know each other, they continue to refuse to be educated in the issues of diversity, even the way they teach and teach learners from african culture is so degrading and patronizing and that reflects their ignorance about diversity and inclusion in education.

Without prejudice, I invite SUS & SRC to immediately read and revise all the institution legal documents: Equality Policy, Student Conduct Policy, Behaviour and Learning Policy, Disciplinary Policy etc. The institution will pose penalty as per disciplinary policy then afford him a right to appeal. If the fabric and the culture of the institution is questionable; then more needs to be done. Institution needs to publicly condemn the act.
The court will apply the law: guilty mind (intention) + guilty act = criminal act
guilty mind to degrade, humiliate, cause emotional and psychological distress, deprive someone his right to education (damaged material) etc
guilty act - taking himself to the victim, position himself in such that he could do his guilty act, open the trousers, expose himself and then urinate, thereafter covers himself and go.
For the point of argument: He may claim that his state of mind was not alright at the time; what can be done?
If found guilty, the record must stay for ever, the International Office report this act to all international offices and the UN; that's not blackmailing but evidence to this extreme violation of human rights. Mind you, the perpetrator will go abroad and study.

I can't believe all of you adults are so so hateful. Please take a look at your language, your thoughts, your feelings and tell me if what you are saying and feeling is any better than what you are accusing this boy of????? This video shows a young man who is EITHER half asleep or very DRUNK having a wee. Many many many of you will know that you have nearly pee'd in your own bed thinking you are on the toilet. Many many of you will confess to having pee'd on the floor or in the wrong place under the influence of alcohol thinking you have walked into a bathroom. If your mind jumps immediately to racism and hateful thoughts then I think you are the one with the problem and should have a look at your heart. The boy is innocent until proven guilty and you should find out about him and his character, his friends, his attitudes and lifestyle and his family before accusing him publically and all over social media. He is not being hateful. He is not being mean. He is not verbally abusing anyone. The boy who took this video should have also kept the camera on while questioning him. To then stop the video and ask the boy questions and then speak on his behalf is not only putting words in his mouth it is being dishonest. The TRUTH will eventually come out. Until then why don't we all be agents of peace, unity, forgiveness and understanding.
